Here's something every actual Christian learns sooner or later... Don't try to appease those who are not of the Faith. One, they will ridicule you if you try to. And they will actually lose *more* respect for you the harder you try to appease them than if you had remained true to your faith to begin with, and had not catered to them at all. Looks like a certain Christian learned that lesson early on.
