Extra talented--actor, singer and songwriter--wrote the 'Diff'rent Strokes' theme with then-wife Gloria Loring. (Uh-uh, don't ask me what I am talking about).
There was this one episode that Alan character and Kirk character were talking serious I think it was a drug episode and Alan put his hand on this son thigh massaging it. Kirk almost broke character but he seemed caught off guard by it or uncomfortable.
I miss that show so much. I grew up watching the reruns after school but also the new episodes weekly. This is a show that definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves as one of the all time great family sitcoms.
Brings back such good memories! I loved growing pains and still enjoy the re-runs when I catch them on tv today. This show talked about real things kids go thru and families deal with. There just isn't tv shows like this today. So glad i grew up in the time I did.
miss concerts at stadiums, @ drive in movies bummer for me had to go to all boys high school i didn't have a choice my dad was a football coach it was free
80's and 90's had a lot of the most awesome shows especially family shows that taught family values and the love of a family like this beloved shows. We will never have awesome eras like those decades ever again.
Growing Pains is without a doubt the greatest family sitcom and greatest show ever! It's funny and serious the acting is great it has fun storylines it teaches important life lessons it addresses serious topics all while being funny and it has a fourth wall episode called Meet the Seavers that's very creative and so brilliant my favorite part in the episode is when the set guy carries Ben over his shoulder it's seriously the perfect show!

RIP Alan.I am chinese, for chinese in my age(born 80s), Growning Pain is the first, and most popular show in China. I had so many great memories. Jason, Maggie, Mike..... just so many memories.
timmyyyt 0 why would you say its bootlegged ? china acutally bought the copyright to play back then. And it is shame for you to say so while you have no idea what you are talking about.
This show has a special place in my heart. It was a massive sensation in China when it was aired. They become household names. Of course Mike is every girl's first crush. Wow so many fond memories
Growing pains was a great show back in the 80's.Its like a real family, but a laugh as well and how the young stars reunited 1st time..."It's so fantastic"!!!
Your scale of success is relative/subjective. I think most, if not all the members went on to have some degree of success in different areas of entertainment and life in general. For example, Joanna Kerns is a successful director and Kirk Cameron has had success as well.
Leo has a gift!!! They were all wonderful and some have managed to have success beyond the show, but I would say Leo has definitely gone beyond being just a pretty face to showing he has a real talent!!!
Me too.I am a woman but she seemed very beautiful for me..Joanna Kerns was gorgeous in the 80' s and is still fine..Tracey Gold became a lovely woman as for her and the youngest brother is cutest than when he was a kid..times have changed!
Peace: Good to know that. I am a kid of the 1980s and hardly remember before 1990 but could sing it too. Watched it to workout this winter on treadmill and was amazed by how "chill" their show was by tv standards.
Actually, Alan Thicke co-wrote the themes from Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts Of Life. He and his then wife, actress and singer Gloria Loring, wrote those themes. Also, the Sever family had a little girl (Chrissy Sever) in the final seasons of the show played by Ashley Johnson, who never seems to be mentioned.
Ditto! Those were the good ol' days, good television shows, beautiful creative music on the radio, hanging out at the malls on the weekend, awesome school teachers and friends; and people actually socialized in person. The early 80's and 90's will always be unmatched. It was the beginning of an ending era. Glad that I got to experience it.🥂✌🏽
This made me extremely sad. Back then I had to go back to my father's hometown due to his obligation towards his goverment. I remembered I was informed only around a month prior. I was raised by the awesome 80's in the states and have such great and fond memories then. I missed my friends there dearly.
This DAMN jingle comes in my head more than any other!! It's madness I tell you. And I listened to many different types of music growing up and watched several different shows, BUT, this 1, is the headringer of HEADRINGERS! Ok, I will admit I love it as indirerctly as possible though.
I love Growing Pains!!!❤❤❤ I has so much great sitcoms to watch growing up in the 80's. It had love, happiness, sadness, humor, family values...I totally loved it.🫶🙌
@@jake23058 That kid was Ashley Johnson she is 36 now lol and she did the voice for one of the best video game characters and most beloved off all time and was Ellie off The Last of Us, she has another little game ;) called the last of us part 2 coming out and it going to revolutionise acting and stories in video games.
rocksvids08 They did a 2hour long movie in 2000. There is a Great line in the tv show entourage of how when you leave tv to make movies you don't go back to do tv. Turtle goes "you didn't see Leo in the growing pains reunion"
Kirk and his wife run a camp for families with sick children. Camp Firefly welcomes the whole family, they get to do fun things, and the parents get to have time for themselves and each other. What a wonderful place.
I loved kirk cameron even named my oldest son cameron after him still like him ive watched his movie fireproof over and over and like his sister candance as well
I love a family that acts like a family because it shows that they really do act like a real family--aka when people ask "do you really act like family off set? They really DO!! Love the kids gagging as they deal with parents being "cute"!
watching this makes me want to cry. not that i am sad but it hurts how much i miss this and how gr8t this stuff was. all 80's stuff makes me feel this way. God I miss this!
Rest in peace Alan Thicke.

Chris Mc Evoy he's under "Thicke" dirt

You bet and I'm from the 80s. Now the set is filled with derogatory languages. I cannot even watch a good movie with out them..

no,back to 80s, china purchased a lot of American cartoon and TV shows.
The same here. It was my favourite.

RIP Alan Thicke, you'll be missed. Thank you for all the laughs.
This show and the Cosby Show were pivotal to my teen years. Loved it then and still do today. Rest In Peace Mr. Thicke.
Yes
Don't forget Family Ties. They had the best TV Moms in the 1980's. Joanna Kearns would have ben fantastic on a Soap Opera back in the day. 😊
I smiled throughout this whole interview. Thanks for the great memories Growing pains cast.
Dr. Jason Seaver was the one of the greatest television dads of the 1980's.
That theme song puts a big smile on my face and a few tears in my eyes!!!
Such a great show!! Childhood memories
Thank you Alan for a great childhood. They don't and never again will make them like this.
agree
Ruben Valenzuela Glenn Frey among them!
I’m a child of the 2000’s but I love this show so much and have seen it twice already! And it won’t be the last time!
Probably the most lovable cool TV Dad there was. If I had to pick one TV family to go live with it would have been the Seavers.
How about Bob Saget or Tony Danza? Yup I also will choose Papa Seavers (RIP).
I would have picked the Seavers.
Uncle Phil was
I am so heart broken when I heard we lost Allen Thicke.. R.I.P Jason Seaver. You left is to soon.. But never forgotten. God Bless..
This was my favorite TV show
love this show, the memory of my childhood
This was definitely one of my favorite shows growing up♡
RIP Allen. Wonderful show this reunion reminded many good happy times.
They all look fantastic. Tracey Gold especially. She completely overcame anorexia and looks the sexiest she's ever looked.
She's a beautiful lady.
DAVID veilleux
Yes she is!
Her sister, Missy, was on Benson.
Rip Alan Thicke! the good die young. You are missed!
Meagan's Make Up Travel Vlogs!! For whom, vampires?

I loved this show I watched every episode.and.cried when it ended there will never be shows like this again but I wish they where... ;)
Hello 👋🏻 nice to meet you Cristina, hope you’re safe and well?
The most insignificant cast member Leonardo DiCaprio, went on to the greatest success after the show.
I totally agree, it was a pain to watch the entire season.
Your scale of success is relative/subjective. I think most, if not all the members went on to have some degree of success in different areas of entertainment and life in general. For example, Joanna Kerns is a successful director and Kirk Cameron has had success as well.
Art Boston. Most overrated...successful at being overrated? Yep
Leo has a gift!!! They were all wonderful and some have managed to have success beyond the show, but I would say Leo has definitely gone beyond being just a pretty face to showing he has a real talent!!!
He can thank Jack Nicholason for that
Loved Growing Pains and love to see how well they’re all doing!
Love them all. Grew up watching the show.
As a kid watching Growing Pains I had a crush on Joanna, 25 years later I still do.! Damn!

Maaan Alan. This is sad. part of my childhood just died. :( RIP Mr Seaver.
Alan Thicke--one of my favorite t.v. dads--rest in heavenly peace.
"Jason" sings Steppenwolf and they are both from Canada. Bop was also the Magazine that NKOTB were on back in the day.

Alan Thicke was my tv dad....he is truly missed
so many years, very thanks so much.
The mom still looks hot
It's funny how we can appreciate that, now that we're older.
I really noticed Joanna Kerns's hotness on a TV movie she did around 1992.
And she's still alive
I'd do her
I always thought she was hot and she doesn't seem to age. The definition of cougar
So sorry to hear of Alan Thicke passing....rip

R.I.P. Mr. Thicke. Damnnnn.
One of the BEST 80's tv theme songs. Ever. I even downloaded it on mp3, and put it on a CD. I'm such a nerd.
I used to see this show on "Nick at nite", when i was a teenager :)
