Works great! My only problem is deleting the picture’s/duplicates that get put into a folder in ‘’ my photos’. There’s not an option to delete them, just an option to remove them from that folder back to their original folder.
What Mac OS are you using? Can you select the photos and hit the delete button? That should move the pictures to the Recently Deleted bin in your Photos app on your Mac. . .
Great explaination. I only wish you had uploaded in 1080p so your video would be clear in full screen on my 27 in 4k monitor.

Hi Molly. good video. I made a mistake and deleted too many close "dupes". The are still in Mac/Photos/Trash (Photo Sweeper). How do I move them back into the general library so I an start over with a little bigger sieve or filter? Thanks
Hmm. . . I would test trying to "restore" the photos. I believe they will go back to the original folder. But. . . I always test. . . By chance do you have a backup that you can use?
You don’t have to go back to adjust matching level. You can just drag the line in the top right

Great video! Do I need to go to each place my photos are located in and run PhotoSweeper? I have only swept my Photos Library so far but wondering if I need to sweep Google Photos and Amazon Photos or does sweeping my Photos Library also delete photos elsewhere?
Hi Mickey - if you have Google Photos and Amazon Photos folders on your computer you can run PhotoSweeper. It doesn't work for photos online. Hoping this makes sense!

Thanks for this. I am wondering about Google photos. Would I need to download all the photos -sort them -delete photos from Google then re upload them? I am trying to simplify things for my mother.
Hi Susan - Is your mother still taking photos? Are there important photos in these that you are downloading?
Once Google is cleaned out, you can re-upload and start over. But we don't recommend Google as a long term solution for pictures. I have a lot of duplicate photos where one is HEIC and the other is JPEG. Does this software recognize them as duplicate photos even though they have different extensions?

Also, I'm assuming this works even if your pictures are all stored in iCloud and not on your hard drive?

I noticed you were using a small batch of photos for comparison. I'm trying to compare across my Photo Libraries, hard drive, and Cloud. I currently have about 131000 photos, so I don't want to use Automark. I like to look for the Album names and make sure the info associated with the photos I keep are accurate, then remove the rest. So I've been manually going through. I desperately need a reliable shortcut. Tips?
Hi Christina, i teach to search by small batches so you can be selective in what you keep easier using Auto Mark. You can also trace back to batches of photos easier as well. It’s hard to scroll through thousands of duplicates. If you are dealing with multiple Mac photos libraries that is a lot. When we have this situation we export all photos out by year to Finder Folders and then dedup. Here’s a master class I teach on working with digital photos. Thank you for the video! After clicking delete photos I get “to continue Photosweeper needs to open Photos Library in Photos Application. Then the prompt “the photos in Photos Library will be moved to the album named Trash (Photo Sweeper). Will this delete the 793 I just “swept” or my entire photo library of 19k? :/
Hi there Julie - when you go into Photos, you'll see the Trash (Photo Sweeper) album. Select all of the photos and then click delete. They will move to the trash and then you can empty the trash if you like. It will not delete your entire library. I hope this helps!

@@juliehedrick9168 That is odd. . . it shouldn't be a URL - are you in the Photos app? it would appear in your navigation pane on the left side by your photos among the albums you have already there. Let me know if this helps. . . It would be frustrating to find the duplicates and then not be able to delete them.
Are you using a paid version of PhotoSweeper or the free version? I just downloaded the free one and it doesn't look like the screens I see on yours. Thanks!
Hi there… I am using the paid version through the App Store… This video is a couple years old, so I’m not sure if it would look exactly the same anyway. The key is to get the side-by-side comparison. I don’t think it starts out that way I hope this helps!

In this video you scanned one singular folder, but my concern is the ability to scan multiple folders, among multiple "Users" on the same mac, in addition to external drives and even Google Drive... SIMULTANEOUSLY. (To weed out ALL duplicates everywhere!!). Can this app do that?
yes, it can
I’ll have to test that... with different users. I usually combine all libraries from different users first into one library. Stay tuned!
@@Pixologie I've recently figured out adding (Read and Write) permissions to different users from Finder > Go > Home > Internal Drive > Users > Right clicking each user > Get Info > Unlock lock > + to add YOUR 'User', giving yourself sharing & permission so you don't have to go in and out! Obviously you must be an "administrator" so you can make those changes. Hope this tip helps.
@@insidexistance I've run into this issue as I have two user setups on my mac. When some photos were marked and I wanted to trash them, i couldn't under my user name. So I would need to log out and log back in as the other user.
It keeps saying! Can’t delete Apple photos in Apple photos?
Hi Nettie, PhotoSweeper makes a temporary album in Apple Photos and moves your duplicates there. Then you can go into Photos and go to that album, select all of them and then delete them. Hoping this helps!
