Glen was so generous with his time. He was a visionary in his own way. But you can see how meeting the right people when you're starting out makes all the difference. If people truly cared about the history of popular music in America, this video would have many more views.
God speed man you will always be eagles. God bless you and your family. You and your music will live on forever. We will always miss you, till we meet again in the skies where the eagles fly forever.
I met Glenn Frey on Jan 31st 1997 at Pebble Beach golf links and he was very very nice to me and autographed the front and back side of “Hell Freezes Over” album. I had it professionally framed and it remains one of my all time favorite pieces of memorabilia.
I got a shirt my dad gave me with all them signed it, hell freezes over tour, it's in plastic sealed up, he was just a collector not really a fan, my mom met them in a elevator in the 70s working for a radio station, and they gave her kisses😂 she always told me this growing up
I was born in 1968 I discovered radio and music around 1975 and the first band that I noticed that I listen to that I sang to was the Eagles. I miss you Glenn Frey.😢❤
I had no idea Glenn was so articulate in telling a story...at least in an interview. He was PERFECT to play the Cardinals' general manager, Dennis, in "Jerry Maguire".
Those of us fortunate to be born in the early 1950's enjoyed freedom to travel and explore domains of life most born in the last 30 years cannot begin to imagine. This interview brings back memories that shaped the life myself and others my age were very fortunate to live in. Thank you for sharing this interview.
This was very interesting to watch. Most of (not all) what Glenn talks about here is talked about/covered in the History of the Eagles documentary. What's interesting here is Glenn's demeanor and the pauses that he takes to think about how he's going to answer and his general laid-back vibe. A bit different than how he typically was on camera. Thanks for posting!
@@dmimcgno...geffen is worth like 7 billion...for what? I know, for nothing. Why is there no record business anymore? Because the scumbags can't steal all the money
Glenn suffered from stomach issue's his whole life...and its what ultimately took his life. You can tell even during this interview that was bothering him and he tried his best to play it down. As a person who has stomach issues and plays in a band, I just can not imagine how Glenn was able to carry on when the Eagles played those last concert tours they did. I am so lucky I was able to finally see the Eagles with Glenn on the last concert tour Glenn ever played on. BTW----He spell's his name with 2 nn's - reminds me of after Tommy Tedesco died - they got his name wrong too.
What stomach issues do you have? I take Omeprazole which helps, but it is tearing my body down… as a musician also I am always interested in seeing what help I can give/get. Thanks.
You also have Batman. 😂 Britain. . not England by the way and yes you have Eagles. We have a few but numbers are increasing. 🏴 Rock on Tom Jones...
Glenn looks very uncomfortable. I think he was really suffering from ulcerative colitis issues, which is in great part what killed him. It must have taken courage and a sweet heart for him to have done this interview.
Makes me wanna hear that first Eagles record again. It was '75 and I was recuperating at a friend's house where I discovered that record and played it every day for a month.
One of my favorite concerts of all time was the one Glenn did during his “Strange Weather” tour which was filmed in Dublin back in 1992. Amazing show and great sound too.
As much as people think Glen was a dick somebody had to play that role in that band. He was the leader. So many great echo go along with a great band. These guys were so talented together. Glen, Randy, Don, Bernie, Joe
Frey plays the diplomat here, but, having read a fair bit about the Eagles and David Geffen, my take is that the reality was (of course) more complicated. Frey was clearly intelligent, talented, and thoughtful, but also had a sizable ego, could be quick to anger, and seemed to enjoy getting in people's faces without much provocation. In sum, probably not someone you'd want to spent a lot of time around.
Glen went into detail about how the band got started with Linda Rondstadt, then the interviewer asked, so how did you guys get started? While talking about the album Desperado, the interviewer asked had the Sergeant Pepper' album come out yet. Yikes, different decades with no clue. I'm sure the interviewer is a nice person and this was still a great interview.
He never spoke about the former best members Randy Bernie , Don F. The ones we loved so much. , It's respectless! Still jealous? He always speaks about the other jerk, Henley.
This interviewer did not do her homework and there are so many questions one might have asked of Glenn including about his friendship with Bob Seger and bringing Joe Walsh into the band still it’s a good interview nonetheless. Thank you for posting.
This reporter who asked the question of the timeline of Sergeant Pepper, pet sounds, and the Eagles desperado album has no music knowledge here credibility was completely invalidated not knowing that timeline.
Too many questions about David Geffen. There are many many things to know about Eagles song writing, relationships, who else was considered but did not become one of the Eagles. Interviewer missed out on much more revealing items.😢😢😢😮😮
He is dead now, but looking back starting Eagles, he was not a nice man. Always fighting after stage and even 1 time ON STAGE. I know much about the Eagles story and that's why I never liked him.

The Eagles started going downhill when Randy Meisner left. Randy had conflicts with Glenn Bernie had conflicts with Glenn Felder had conflicts with Glenn Henley had conflicts with Glenn Common denominator here?
@@brianambrosemcmahon8531he wasn't always nice according to others who knew him during the Eagles years. But age and the passage of time seems to have mellowed him and he comes off much more likeable than I would have expected.
Well he tried to beat up Don Felder after the last 80’s Eagles concert, refused to speak to the other band members after the incident, didn’t participate in recording overdubs for the band's live album “Eagles Live” and also told Henley that he wouldn’t do the “Hell Freezes Over” Reunion unless he and Don made more money because Schmidtt, Felder and Walsh hadn’t done as much post-Eagles, i’d have to say Frey was the worst. Having said that though, I still think he is a brilliant musician and good storyteller.

What an amazing gift to music and the world.
IMO The Eagles are not The Eagles without this man right here. Thanks for all the Music Glenn... The Music Lives...
I know there were some things about Glenn Frye that some didn’t like, but man he was a very intelligent person and talented of course.

By far my favorite Glenn Frey interview.

The sale of Asylum was purely a business deal to Geffen. It was his to sell. Right or wrong.
(19:15) i say...it would be great ART if they didn't have "business".
