Trying out Mr. Nolas Glitter Speed Dry epoxy for the first time

  • This was my first time using this epoxy and I love it! I wish I would have made it back home earlier for the sake of this video, but I’ve done it since and was touching my cup after 1.5 hours. The Alzheimer’s cup in the video posted before this was my second use and it covered beautifully. I plan to keep this epoxy on hand at all times! I do still love my Liquidy Split, and will implement the application modifications next time to see if I get similar results. The nice thing about Speed Dry’s thickness is that it may only need one layer over your vinyl rather than 2 like some epoxy.
I hope you found this helpful!!
If you’d like to donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, THANK YOU! If you’d like to contribute to my personal fundraising goal, here’s the link: act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=159...

Love this. My mom has Alzheimer’s and boy oh boy what a horrible disease. We live over 1,000 miles apart but since I moved to where I live now in ‘01 she was used to our phone conversation. I am able to still talk to her by phone and we are still able to giggle together but it is getting harder for sure. I miss her so much. We have been through some very tough times together and she has always been my best friend and more like a sister than a mom. Sigh…so hard. Oh and this epoxy has changed this newbie tumbler maker’s life.

I bought this 2 weeks ago, and couldn't find any videos on it... It was a learning curve for me for sure. Oh boy I got a flash cure when I tried to mix up a large batch and mixed it for more than the 3 mins. I do small batches now! So glad you showed how to apply it for the best results. I will be doing that from now on. I love the dry to the touch in 2 hours!

I bought some to try too, but haven’t tried it yet. I’m glad you liked it. My favorite right now is KS too.

Hi new to tumbler making. Can this epoxy be used inside and not wear a mask? Thank you in advance for your help.

You got me hooked on liquidy split and I don't know if I'll change anytime soon but it's good to know that there's an alternative...💜🙂👍🏼

Very cool! My room isn't quite warm enough yet for Speed Dry but I did order Artistry Epoxy Fast Set 1:1 and can't wait to try it out, it can be used for all layers! That cup is gorgeous, by the way 🥰🥰

My shed isn’t either without the help of those lights. Especially right now with the winter storm! 😆

I myself love KS resins Liquidity Split but I also just purchased and used this resin and I gotta tell I really love it 🥰!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Also, when would you add another coat without sanding? Thank you 😊

I have to ask. The gray tumbler. Is that the multicolored textured speckle spray paint from Rustoleum? I was looking at some yesterday and wondered if it would work.

Yes! I tried doing that on the stainless base and it looked horrible. I wiped it off and base painted gray for a better result.

Silly question do you still need to sand the cup for a second coat?

    • @ThePurpleStitch
      @ThePurpleStitch  2 роки тому

If your layers are fairly close together, no. But if the previous layer is fully cured, it’s a good idea. Confession: I haven’t sanded between layers plenty of times. 😬😆

Can anyone tell me how this is for people with severe skin allergy to epoxy? I look a hot mess right now after using ALE Inc epoxy. I wear gloves, but some how I still get epoxy on my hands. My skin is raw, burns, and itches terrible. I love the epoxy, but my skin does not.

I’ve had rashes from several epoxies. I don’t have a problem with MNG Glass Coat or Speed Dry. You might try the small bottle to find out if you will have a reaction to it.

@@sharonbrown7715 Thank you so much! I am suffering a bit at the moment. I refuse to give up making cups. It is therapeutic for me. I will be ordering some MNG epoxy soon!🤗🤗🤗

I am new new new to tumbler making. When I get better at my timing and more used to doing this I think I will get some faster setting Epoxy. Do you have a preference between this and Quick Coat? Thanks for showing us. hugs Sheryl. 💙🎨💙

I definitely can see where liquidy split will still have a place in my rotation. It’s much thinner than Speed Dry.
