After watching the video advert i was still skeptical. But when i finally downloaded the plans ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG i was very impressed. The whole plan was just as you said in the video. Thank you very much. I now have a large and valuable collection for my woodworks. This is great!
Love those 360 cameras on the stick... Fun to stickum up into Wasp nests and watch them get pissed... Great job on the Gate, I was expecting a stencil DIRESTA 2022 somewhere... so 100 years from now the Auctioneer will have evidence of a truly valuable piece of farm equipment.
Not only is that a great looking gate, but the ?video production? The music and the camera effects are entertaining. Come a long way from that NY basement shop.
Really fantastic work, Jimmy! 😃 I've never seen hardware like that here in Brazil! And my parents have a farm... And my father watched with me! Pretty impressive!!! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Looks great! I’d suggest drilling and chiseling out the the full distance of the striker plate opening. Even the best built gate will sag a bit over time and that’d save you from nudging it up for the bolt to find the hole.
More often than not a properly built gate like this will not sag. But the gate post will heave and lean. With no diagonal deadman backing it, this post is a prime "Leaner" candidate.
Yes, I built a gate little taller like this, when winter or hard rain arrives... gate has issues, so a large hole behind the striker plate was necessary (even in TX) 🤠
@@branchandfoundry560 I agree 100%. When I do these installs, I wire the hinge post with a in-line come-along to the next post. Over time, as the inevitable sag sets in, you can tighten it and pull the hinge post back to plumb.
Magnífico tutorial maestro, una puerta rustica y fuerte , es lo qué le pega a ese cierre, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos y experiencias, un saludo cordial y por supuesto un gran like desde Narón (Galicia) 🤓 🔝
Lovely gate, so fitting with everything else you have & probably long lived in your climate. Here in northern uk wood rots too quickly so reluctantly I now mostly build in steel. We also have lots of deer now so I need much higher fences or scaffolding netting over plants else Bambi eats them. Thanks for sharing!
I dunno, my parents had a house with a untreated picket fence in Southern NY, and even with diligent care and painting with rot inhibitors, it lasted less than 15 years. It got replaced with chain link with privacy inserts, on galv posts and top rails, and its still standing 35 years later.
@@kajem575 Love that galvanized chain link look. So industrial and reminiscent of prison. Warm, cozy, you just want to cuddle up next to it. Screw wood fences!
That has to be the sturdiest gate in existence! Also props on the sponsor, you know your audience! Thinking of picking the RIVER Mini for my campervan!
I found you through Weaver Leather supply and made your riveted bag. I have purchased the razor blades. My son just informs me that you have a Netflix show. Had no idea. Thanks for the making.
Hi @Jimmy!Great job! This garden gate is so amazing! Simple and practical! The real Diresta style! You make !😊👍Greeting #BulatsSchmiede from germany (Bulat the Blacksmith)
I followed a similar pattern for a chicken coop gate, with three layers of 1x4 to frame and brace it. Works great. We built some heavy garden gates this year too, I'm sick of wiggly underbuilt gates.
You should expand this garden patch even more. Home gardening is the best you can do for yourself if you have the space and with tech being at an all time great in terms of customization and availability, you can remove most of the burdens of custodianship. Automatic watering, various sensors, cameras etc. I know a guy who is a city worker, can't be bothered to commute, so he automated a good section of his garden with all the needs including various means to drive away pests from afar. He can access all of it from his phone at any time.
I just made two gates for the garden. I used 1x4 Douglas Fir. I spent a day on each gate.... the latch adjusting took days of use. I am no JImmy Diresta.
Always enjoy watching new additions to the DiResta homestead. Hope you all had a great holiday weekend Jimmy and thanks for all you do!

looks like a perfect garden gate to me,
🥰🥰🥰🥰
the pure definition of SOLID! Hemlock is a great choice for that as well. You never do anything half way, that's what I enjoy about your channel.
I enjoy these big, rugged builds. They seem so fun and rewarding!
Taylor's barn looks great, looking forward to seeing the build progress

Gonna take a trip to the east coast soon. Would love to meet up for lunch my friend.
Come anytime brother
With everything you do it’s beautiful, functional, and practical. Truly an art form! Good work Jimmy.
Only 18 lag bolts? That thing won't even make it through the winter. Nice job lol. Im enjoying these homestead videos you've been making
Not only is that a great looking gate, but the ?video production?
The music and the camera effects are entertaining.
Come a long way from that NY basement shop.
Serious and sturdy yet simple gate anyone could do for themselves with minimal tooling, great stuff !
Very nice job. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Thank you very much!
Done with all the fineness of an artiste.

You know the only thing I feel is missing? A doorstop. But only because I’m a clumsy oaf! Lovely work sir.

Jimmy that's right sacrieligious havin a dewalt circular saw in a Milwaukee tool box 🪚🛠🧰 ! 🤣
I'm not a farm boy so I don't have a lot of comparisons, but that is the beefest gate and hardware I've ever seen. Nice job!
That’s one solid garden gate!!
Like a Glove!!! looks beutiful and the garden too!!!
Jimmy that gate is beautiful but does it keep out trolls. 🤣 always a gift to have a new video pop up. Thanks!

super nice doorsystem👍
Fantastic gate! I built a garden gate, nowhere as nice as yours, but when I was done. It was too heavy for me to lift! Haha!

What a unit of a gate, I love it
That is one beefy garden gate! At least the tomatoes won't break it down =D
Perfect future paddock gate though ;D
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho!
Mildly disappointed you didn’t make the lock yourself because I love your metalwork videos as much as the woodworking ones.

i have built a lot of gates and doors very similar to this. They hold up very well.
Very nice. That will last for a long time.
Thing of a beauty 👍
Awesome video
Hey thank you that's just what I needed!!!
Another great video , I wish I could get the gate hardware down here.
I love that truck.
Nice build. The only thing I might have added was a top board to cap off some of the end grain. Love that hardware.
