Well your beautiful Chic Sparrows got me through the very difficult period of assuming care responsibilities for my Mom as she drifted into dementia and then eventually passed away during the covid lockdown period. I have sisters who I assumed would share responsibility but instead it was just me, my husband and daughters. I made a planner using a Sidekick (love) with a four inserts (books) for Mom's health, finances, stuff, and something else I forgot and then we used this to manage all aspects of her care. ALL the doctor notes went in there, all the credit cards, medical ID cards, everything. I was holding your beautiful product during every phase of this period from moving her to increasing care and finally hospice. It was really my anchor. Thank you so much for all you do.

I don’t count how many I have. It’s I secret I keep from myself. I do have at least 1 in every room and I don’t know how many in storage. Most of mine are prototypes so I hesitate to share them. Inevitably someone (several someone’s) always tries to buy them from me when they see them. I don’t mind but they usually stay with me. They remind me of progress.

I started with Chic Sparrow about 2014. I loved Carrie and Ali with you. And this started my journaling adventure. I've bought more than a handful of CS's. Fast forward to this year. I've had a major health event this year. And I've written everything down. A practice I developed over time since my first CS. And looking back at what I have written has literally saved my life. Because I did not journal before. I've always loved it when you make videos because of getting to see the person behind the beautiful journal covers.

Before I comment on anything about this particular video, I want to tell you...At 7am this morning, I was sitting by the dinning table watching this video full screen on my laptop. My "gold fish memory" husband walked by half asleep went "ah, Jennifer Harvey! What's going on with your Chic Sparrow these days?" ...Do you know what that means? This guy doesn't even remember what we ate for dinner last night! He doesn't do journal, stationary any of that. He can't even say what I'm wear right now if you immediately put him in another room. BUT he remembers your brand and your FULL name. (BTW, he also knows your business story and likely talked about it with his MBA class). Well, now he knows your personality after watching this video...Believe or not, you are leaving a great impact on people like us, a very positive one. I don't want to write a long essay about my Chic Sparrow story here (did one before in my journal ;P). I want you to know that 1. Chic Sparrow started my TN journey and leather love 2. Since 2015 I discovered Chic Sparrow, your products still remain the majority of my cover collection (and now I have over a hundred) 3. You've been my role model since I first learned about the start of your business. Aside from your products, I love your videos and your personality. I think that's the main reason that I stick around even AFTER I don't really need any more journal covers 4. As I destashing my overwhelmingly amount of leather covers, I find myself having the hardest time to let my Chic Sparrow go...because each notebook is part of me, my journey of growth...together with Chic Sparrow 5. I was fortunately to speak with you on the phone once regarding a duplicate order. That was the highlight of my week even month. You are sweet, thoughtful and personable...we share the love for Pike's Peak in COS. I still remember every word of our conversation! 6. fun fact, my initial is also CS, so your logo and the "CS" on the rivets are made for me. I think the connection is meant to be. ;P Sure! People shop with Chic Sparrow mainly for it's products. But I'm positive that MANY people are like me, we love Chic Sparrow also because of YOU. Dear Jennifer, this is a brave step to take on your journey. Thank you for taking the risk and making this video. I remember once I read the quote, "What other people think about me is none of my business." It helped me at times to make light of some of the challenges I had with insecurities and tendencies towards people pleasing. I also struggled with balancing my humanity and grace (to the point of I have written about this topic often in journaling, poetry and publicly) - like where does this fit in my faith life...and I always sort of appreciated those who could see and help me see clearly in this...I still struggle at 60! I appreciated your clarification (about salvation) and your willingness to put yourself out there and speak into the liminal spaces we all must navigate. Lastly, I adore your creative spirit and heart. And I have to confess I own many of your creations. I loved when I got peeks into your personal life at the times you shared on a separate Instagram account years back. I gave up my Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter all these for many of the reasons you probably can guess. Hello Jennifer. I always thought you were amazing. Not just your talent with leather and your designing but I do recall watching videos of you back in the day when you chatted and I’m pretty sure you did a few videos with you journaling in them. When I first discovered UA-cam, I watched both you and Carrie Harling a lot. The information you shared bounced me around other content makers - mainly fountain pens and stationery. I found the love, passion and respect you have for the leather as well as your creativity to be inspiring - you were sharing much more than your product. I watched your videos , not because of your covers (they are beautiful) but because you are interesting to listen to and I was learning from you. So I thank you for sharing some of your insights. I have had decades of being a people pleaser and since turning 60 I have been trying harder to be a me pleaser. I now tell myself regularly that it’s okay to be me, just as it’s okay for you to be you. I think you are an insightful and interesting person.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen you. I don’t even journal. It sounds like you’ve been through an awful lot of tough times that have made you grow. I know God doesn’t waste any of our suffering. He uses these things to grow us. It reminds me of my own life when I went through some hard times. The hardest thing to accept was the statement, “it’s ok to make mistakes.” Once I did accept that, the weight of the world was lifted! I remind myself that we are human, we make mistakes, and we don’t give anyone permission to judge us for those mistakes. It’s quite liberating! You’ve really grown through all this and I’m so glad! It brought a tear to my eyes to hear you’d experienced a tubal pregnancy. I’m so sorry that happened and it sounds very painful. I hope, as time has gone by, that you’ve realized it wasn’t your fault and you did nothing to cause that. Don’t let those thoughts hold you captive. I think you’re awesome and I thank you for being transparent and real with your audience. God bless you!

I have a friend who lives in Edinburgh - we take vacations as part of a group together where we embed ourselves into wonderful Sicilian/Italian culture, food and environment. I can truly relate on many things you mentioned, what an incredible inspiration you are! I’m 54 and still learning this thing called life, but journaling has been a very healing modality for me, I learned about James Pennebaker, expressive writing and how journaling can heal. Dr. John Sarno also did some work with chronic pain ( and other conditions) and how journaling out your anger can result in healing. Writing is literally saving my life, along with my faith. Thank you kind soul for sharing this. I also like that little journal you held up at the end….which one was that? I like portable and small, which is what that seemed like. 😊

I had an ectopic pregnancy as well. I was a ski lift operator, and got such severe pains, going down to rescue my T-bar disaster skiers, that I could not move, and they were waiting for me. I did also almost die...as apparently, any ectopic pregnancy, is LIFE THREATENING, as it can EXPLODE at any time, whilst, you have NO IDEA, it is even there. I never got any counceling for this, and just jumped through it like it was just another hoop/ icky part of my life. I am surprised...very much, that this is SUCH A THING...these days...mine happened nearly 40 years ago...nothing was made of it, as such a big deal...basically...you had a minor surgery...ya...I see now, why I felt so bad for so long...it actually was, much more than it was let on to be, at the time, in that era, 40 years ago.. Well your beautiful Chic Sparrows got me through the very difficult period of assuming care responsibilities for my Mom as she drifted into dementia and then eventually passed away during the covid lockdown period. I have sisters who I assumed would share responsibility but instead it was just me, my husband and daughters. I made a planner using a Sidekick (love) with a four inserts (books) for Mom's health, finances, stuff, and something else I forgot and then we used this to manage all aspects of her care. ALL the doctor notes went in there, all the credit cards, medical ID cards, everything. I was holding your beautiful product during every phase of this period from moving her to increasing care and finally hospice. It was really my anchor. Thank you so much for all you do.

Inevitably someone (several someone’s) always tries to buy them from me when they see them. I don’t mind but they usually stay with me. They remind me of progress.

Before I comment on anything about this particular video, I want to tell you...At 7am this morning, I was sitting by the dinning table watching this video full screen on my laptop. My "gold fish memory" husband walked by half asleep went "ah, Jennifer Harvey! What's going on with your Chic Sparrow these days?" ...Do you know what that means? This guy doesn't even remember what we ate for dinner last night! He doesn't do journal, stationary any of that. He can't even say what I'm wear right now if you immediately put him in another room. BUT he remembers your brand and your FULL name. (BTW, he also knows your business story and likely talked about it with his MBA class). Well, now he knows your personality after watching this video...Believe or not, you are leaving a great impact on people like us, a very positive one.
I don't want to write a long essay about my Chic Sparrow story here (did one before in my journal ;P). I want you to know that 1. Chic Sparrow started my TN journey and leather love 2. Since 2015 I discovered Chic Sparrow, your products still remain the majority of my cover collection (and now I have over a hundred) 3. You've been my role model since I first learned about the start of your business. Aside from your products, I love your videos and your personality. I think that's the main reason that I stick around even AFTER I don't really need any more journal covers 4. As I destashing my overwhelmingly amount of leather covers, I find myself having the hardest time to let my Chic Sparrow go...because each notebook is part of me, my journey of growth...together with Chic Sparrow 5. I was fortunately to speak with you on the phone once regarding a duplicate order. That was the highlight of my week even month. You are sweet, thoughtful and personable...we share the love for Pike's Peak in COS. I still remember every word of our conversation! 6. fun fact, my initial is also CS, so your logo and the "CS" on the rivets are made for me. I think the connection is meant to be. ;P
Sure! People shop with Chic Sparrow mainly for it's products. But I'm positive that MANY people are like me, we love Chic Sparrow also because of YOU. Today, you don't need me to tell you this - You are not just good enough. You are MORE than enough. You are how good I want to be. :D

Dear Jennifer, this is a brave step to take on your journey. Thank you for taking the risk and making this video. I remember once I read the quote, "What other people think about me is none of my business." It helped me at times to make light of some of the challenges I had with insecurities and tendencies towards people pleasing. I also struggled with balancing my humanity and grace (to the point of I have written about this topic often in journaling, poetry and publicly) - like where does this fit in my faith life...and I always sort of appreciated those who could see and help me see clearly in this...I still struggle at 60! I appreciated your clarification (about salvation) and your willingness to put yourself out there and speak into the liminal spaces we all must navigate. Lastly, I adore your creative spirit and heart. And I have to confess I own many of your creations. I loved when I got peeks into your personal life at the times you shared on a separate Instagram account years back. I gave up my Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter all these for many of the reasons you probably can guess. Hello Jennifer. I always thought you were amazing. Not just your talent with leather and your designing but I do recall watching videos of you back in the day when you chatted and I’m pretty sure you did a few videos with you journaling in them. When I first discovered UA-cam, I watched both you and Carrie Harling a lot. The information you shared bounced me around other content makers - mainly fountain pens and stationery. I found the love, passion and respect you have for the leather as well as your creativity to be inspiring - you were sharing much more than your product. I watched your videos , not because of your covers (they are beautiful) but because you are interesting to listen to and I was learning from you. So I thank you for sharing some of your insights. I have had decades of being a people pleaser and since turning 60 I have been trying harder to be a me pleaser. I now tell myself regularly that it’s okay to be me, just as it’s okay for you to be you. I think you are an insightful and interesting person.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen you. I don’t even journal. It sounds like you’ve been through an awful lot of tough times that have made you grow. I know God doesn’t waste any of our suffering. He uses these things to grow us. It reminds me of my own life when I went through some hard times. The hardest thing to accept was the statement, “it’s ok to make mistakes.” Once I did accept that, the weight of the world was lifted! I remind myself that we are human, we make mistakes, and we don’t give anyone permission to judge us for those mistakes. It’s quite liberating! You’ve really grown through all this and I’m so glad! It brought a tear to my eyes to hear you’d experienced a tubal pregnancy. I’m so sorry that happened and it sounds very painful. I hope, as time has gone by, that you’ve realized it wasn’t your fault and you did nothing to cause that. Don’t let those thoughts hold you captive. I think you’re awesome and I thank you for being transparent and real with your audience. God bless you!

I love Scotland too, though I haven't been there for a long time - I love the landscape in the more off the beaten track places and there is plenty of that to be had in Scotland. I have a friend who lives in Edinburgh - we take vacations as part of a group together where we embed ourselves into wonderful Sicilian/Italian culture, food and environment. I can truly relate on many things you mentioned, what an incredible inspiration you are! I’m 54 and still learning this thing called life, but journaling has been a very healing modality for me, I learned about James Pennebaker, expressive writing and how journaling can heal. Dr. John Sarno also did some work with chronic pain ( and other conditions) and how journaling out your anger can result in healing. Writing is literally saving my life, along with my faith. Thank you kind soul for sharing this. I also like that little journal you held up at the end….which one was that? I like portable and small, which is what that seemed like. 😊

I had an ectopic pregnancy as well. I was a ski lift operator, and got such severe pains, going down to rescue my T-bar disaster skiers, that I could not move, and they were waiting for me. I did also almost die...as apparently, any ectopic pregnancy, is LIFE THREATENING, as it can EXPLODE at any time, whilst, you have NO IDEA, it is even there. I never got any counceling for this, and just jumped through it like it was just another hoop/ icky part of my life. I am surprised...very much, that this is SUCH A THING...these days...mine happened nearly 40 years ago...nothing was made of it, as such a big deal...basically...you had a minor surgery...ya...I see now, why I felt so bad for so long...it actually was, much more than it was let on to be, at the time, in that era, 40 years ago..
