I bought a Roborock s7 Maxv Ultra based on that, I can't find a single bad review, and with the Black Friday sale, I was in. After using it for 2 days, I found a major problem that none of the reviews mentioned. While it claims to automatically empty it does not. The vacuum, and has a small bin inside, and I have two large dogs. The unit will only empty the bin at the very end of the job. There is no setting in the app to tell it to go and empty the bin but there is one that will tell you to clean the mop head. If you send it back to base it will start the job all over again. Once the bin is full inside the robot, it will just push the dirt around on the floor. I called Roborock's tech support and they said that this is normal. With my two dogs it will literally fill the bin to overflowing and will stop the job and I will have to manually remove the hair from the machine. I don't understand how all of the reviewers missed this major bug.
Great review however, from someone who has one of these, (X1 Omni) take note that the mopping feature is great if you only have one floor to do. Since the robot goes back to its station to clean the mop and then continue its session (I think it does this after 15min) you will not be able to do that on another floor unless you have another station. So basically you have to bring the robot back to the floor where you have the station for it to clean the mops. Then you have to get the robot to exit the station and bring it back to the floor it was on and resume cleaning. Only problem is it wont remember where it was so it will do areas it already did. It’s not like when the there is a low battery and it goes to charge and then resume where it left off. Something to consider.
This sounds like something that could be fixed with a software upgrade, yes? It should be able to mop, go home, clean up, then go out and mop more, if the software supported it well, yes? We have lots of hard floors with thresholds between them, so not being able to do multiple floors or not being able to cross 15mm high thresholds would be a blocker for us. We currently use a vacuum robot that manages the thresholds and several small mopping robots (deebot and braava jet). It would be nice to have a mop that cleaned itself and did multiple rooms.
So, If in the middle of mopping then they need to return by theirself to the dock, let say because it need to refil the water etc, Then when they’re finish, they will start to mop again right? And so they will return to the place where they was or what? I really hesitate to buy it.. pls need help and information still 🙏🏻
I've had the S7 MaxV Ultra for three weeks and love it. The Ecovacs would have been my second choice. From a purely design aspect, the Ecovacs is much better. Containers are concealed and the entire unit looks much nicer. The app is very easy to use on the S7 with tons of options. Works flawlessly as it transitions from hardwood floors to carpet, and carpets don't even get damp if it's mopping. While you can do both vac and mopping in one job, I'm finding it's better to vac first and then mop. Leaving the mop head on during vacuuming can cause problems when it has to transition from floor to thicker carpeting, especially if you have small area rugs on carpeted areas. With the mop head off, it manages transitions flawlessly. However, it does not empty the dust bin after every job, and it won't tell you when the dust bin is full. The self-drying aspect isn't a problem for me since I do all the mopping on one day, remove the mop head, and toss it in the washer (but air dry it). At this price, it really should include a self-drying feature for people who mop on various days of the week. I empty and rinse the dirty water container after mopping sessions and add a couple of drops of Lysol to keep it sanitary until next time. The Omo cleaning solution, the only one Roborock recommends at this point, does a good job. One capful per full container of clean water does the job, and means the 16 oz. bottle will last a long time. Glad I went with Roborock again, but if I had to make a second choice, the Ecovacs would be perfectly acceptable. Thanks for your great reviews. They are so helpful in understanding the robots on the market and making a choice that works for each person's needs and budget.
You can now buy a dryer for S7 MaxV Ultra, it’s around $100. Also, they just dropped the price about 25%. I have had the S7 for several months and love it
I’m on day 4 on the Ecovac and I can clearly state that the vacuum cannot clear transitions. I know it was mention that carpet was an issue, and that is true too, but I’ve been in touch with customer service to find work arounds, as half my house is wood and half tile. Sadly, this means that not only is whole house cleaning not an option, but because the vacuum returns to base about every 10-15 minutes depending on settings it can only clean very briefly and die. I should note because I’m working on this problem, I saw in you video the vacuum didn’t clear your transition either. Might return, but I’m going to give Ecovac a good-faith effort, as they have responded and we are sharing data to find a solution.
Thanks for the video. I can't find the measurements for the depth of the base station for the roborock, how far out from the wall it sits with the robovac docked. Any chance you could help? I would love one of these but need a place to hide the base station!
We have a fake wood floor, like a laminate with an MDF core.....it swells if water gets between the planks. So I'm concerned about the amount of water that the mops put down. What's worse is there is a bevel gap feature between planks, so the mop action may result in water collecting between the planks. Would this be an issue with either of these?
A lot of people are going to this style floor today. Both of these and most Robot Mops are rated for this. It does not put enough water down to cause any damage to any floor. You can see in this video and in the more detailed videos of both of these how much water and it's minimal and most of it is soaked back up into the mop head. I hope this helps. I would not be worried about this. You mop them now with a mop or something like this? ua-cam.com/video/GjnPpGT9VA0/v-deo.html Whatever you use today is more than these I would be you. I can safely promise you that it will not and if you buy and try and it does worry you then stop it and box it up and return it. Either one of these will change your life and save you so much money ua-cam.com/video/-EFUqx2NtuA/v-deo.html
I’ve been comparing your videos on all robot vacs. I’m split between the Roborock and the Norwal. Sooo you prefer the Roborock over the Norwal? I’ll have to check if the Norwal will go over carpet. Like that it dries itself and of course the design of it. Thanks 😊
I highly recommend Roborock mainly because narwal doesn't empty intruder the dock. You have to still empty it a lot... Thank you for watching. Hope they've helped you
My old roomba i7+ needs a replacement. Should i buy the roborock s7VMax or the roomba j7+ and m6 mob? We only have tiles and a lot of dog/cat hair in the room.
The only hesitate me to buy the Roborock is for such an expensive stuff they’re quality of customer service and technical support, globally and locally are pretty bad compare to ecovacs. The Roborock team won’t reply message and take them too long to response you form the local representative. Not only that, they’re really helpless 🙈Because of this, I would prefer ecovacs. This is really unfortunate for the Roborock and I hope they can improve and appreciated their customer better.
I'm a huge roborock fan, about to start working on a review for the S8 Ultra. I've tried most of them and the S7 MaxV just delivers. The S8 has solved the drying issue so expecting it to be nearly perfect. The Omni is beautifully designed but the carpet issue and the suction and cables just didn't get me there
@@Zachus but you said that Roborock has to return many times to the dock while doing cleaning which omni didn’t? So omni can’t do cable ya - thanks for letting me know 🙏🏻 I am confused and Roborock, I don’t know how to set it up.. when you received it for the first time, it’s there any percentage of the battery already on so that you can turn it on immediately when you just unboxing it for the first time? I had bad experience with Roborock, once I unboxing it, it just doesn’t turn on my unit and when I charge it, I don’t know the indication whether they already charge or not and I asked the customer service and they are quite hopeless 😭
All of them, at least for me, have had battery out of the box enough to setup. I've had a bad experience with roborock as well, see this video ua-cam.com/video/VyhKtQ13exg/v-deo.html I sent this one back, so bad, not all roborock's or Roomba or sharks are created equally. I just happen to try some of these for the channel to explore options. I really wanted to and thought I'd love the OMNI and use it. but... this S7 MaxV Ultra won me over. Good luck on your seach
Yes both will do up to 10 maps, so yes you can do this. You'll just select your map when you are setting a job run. The only issue you might run into if it needs to re-charge or clean the mop, you would need to take the station up or carry it down and back up to finish. Honestly would be easier to have two but if you need the mop on both then this might be worth it to you.

I’m confused - the robot does automatically empty the bin but you’re saying it does not?
I bet after 3 weeks its not a problem any more.
Can you schedule it to do one or two rooms at a time? That way the bin won't overflow.
