  • The Countdown National Top 10 for September 28, 1980, announced by Countdown announcer Gavin Wood. The Songs, in order:
    10. Kate Bush- Babooshka
    9. Olivia Newton-John- Magic
    8. Rolling Stones- Emotional Rescue
    7. Irene Cara- Fame
    6. Rocky Burnette- Fallin’ In Love
    5. Diana Ross- Upside Down
    4. The Romantics- What I Like About You
    3. Leo Sayer- More Than I Can Say
    2. Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra- Xanadu
    1. Genghis Khan- Moscow
Note: Announcer Gavin Wood was great at inserting artist-specific puns in his top 10 countdowns- take particular note of his announcements of Leo Sayer, and Olivia Newton John and Electric Light Orchestra.
The segment and episode conclude with Molly Meldrum wishing Australian singer Edith Bliss (who performed earlier in the episode) a happy 21st birthday, with the help of her colleague and then ‘Simon Townsend’s Wonder World’ reporter Jonathan Coleman, before leading into AC/DC’s single ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’.
Vaxfacts: Sadly, Edith Bliss passed away from lung cancer on May 3, 2012.

@@debrak8521 Ain't gonna happen. The ABC wiped most (all?) the master tapes so the episodes are now lost for good.

@@debrak8521 Yep, the majority of the pre-1980 episodes were wiped. Only about half of the 1979 episodes and a handful of the pre-1979 episodes exist. They’ve been shown on rage over the years, hopefully they will again
