    Marvellous build vid! The kit looks outstanding and everything I've seen on UA-cam about it (despite the risk of bent flanges) is very impressive. You are very thorough, I appreciate your attention to detail 😊

    Great kit indeed! And inspiring build review as always! 👍
    I already have two copies of this one and am looking forward to buying the tropical one.
    I am happy to report that the wing corners of both of my kits are in perfect shape.
    (The small protrusions on the stabilizer are there on all kits I believe...)

    Jen had to chuckle at 26:53 tweezer pulted is now in my vocabulary. Thank you for the concise build which will help me greatly with the build of this kit. My kit parts are all ok so seems a random issue.

      I've had feedback of a few being damaged in the same way mine was. Not a huge problem but I'm glad most people don't seem to be getting bent ones!

    20:45 you are talking about the root fillet seams on the leading edge, and mention removing a mould seam above the one where the 2 halves meet, perhaps that should have been there.
    There should in fact be a seam there where the top and bottom halves of the fillet are joined with a line of dome head rivets - more or less central to the leading edge. The seam you filled looks a little low to be the real one - but I don't have the kit, so can't say for sure which one is in the correct place.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  10 місяців тому

      Yes, I spotted the join in some reference pictures on google. The mould seam was a lot higher, too high. I think Arma designed the join there so that it wouldn't need sanding, they've done a lot of that throughout the kit.

    Regarding the stirrup step: Another thing that is not mentioned in the instructions: If you show the step extended, the handgrip hole above should be shown open; the two were coupled: pulling down the step did open the handhold (and, I assume, closing the handhold would retract the step.)
    There's a lengthy thread on Britmodeller on the subject with some photos documenting the affair.
    On your camera's focusing problems: I don't know if you are willing to do that (the instructions as a backdrop DO look good), but having a featureless background helps the camera logic to concentrate on the parts of the image that DO have contrast.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, I figured that out as I went along and had already glued the hand hold flush. I don't like too many sticking out and breaky things on models anyway so it turned out for the best!

    So true about using Master Details, once you start, they’re a requirement for every build! I’d say Arma designed the kit to accept the Master barrels as the barrels definitely predate the kit.

  • @DarrellThompson47

    Nice work. I do exactly the same thing with kit seat to thin the sides. The Master barrels were not made for the kit as they have been available for several years. I was lucky, my kit has undamaged trailing edges.

    Beautiful work. I'll look forward to part 2. The Hurricane has not been on my build list...but this looks like a wonderful kit. I enjoy the Arma Hobby 1/72 Mustang very much (even thought I rarely build at that scale). Thanks for the very detailed video

    An informative video as usual, thank you; the lighting was a bit dim and focus was often on the instruction manual rather than the parts in your hand that you were trying to show to camera. Anyway, a few things stuck out...
    Wonderful surface detail, clever tailplane engineering, and great wingroot fit!
    And the we have those those sprue gates on the wing leading edge and a seat looks like it was made by cavemen lol
    I admire your work on the instrument panel, but as soon as Yahu do one for this kit (I model 1/32 so not sure how prolific they are in 1/48) that would be my choice for a simple upgrade but of course if canopy is closed you're not going to see very much at all.
    re your mix for aluminium paint... AK Extreme Metal is (I believe) an enamel - are you mixing it with a regular Tamiya acrylic?
    re Black Widow, it's my preferred solution for filling seams - it sands like a dream and can be sanded pretty much instantly with use of an accelerator; I do not think you need to use talc with it btw; I believe it will sand smoother without, but difference is possibly marginal.
    Looking forward to part 2, thank you again.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  10 місяців тому

      Ironically the light is actually really bright, I think the camera over compensates and the bright instructions don't help. I've been looking everywhere for a plain dark coloured cutting mat and can't find anything - so I spent half an hour with some thinners rubbing all the lines off my black one. I'll try that out going forward.
      Yes, I mix Tamiya paint into the AK metallics. It's labelled as enamel, but it thins with Mr Color thinner just the same as Tamiya acrylics do so they mix just fine.

    Looks like a great kit and a very enjoyable video as usual. 1/48th just doesn't work for me as a scale. tantalizingly large for added detail but too small to really go as far as I would like. I build 72nd for the variety and different schemes I want to do (I have 10 CF-104's to build) and 1/32 for aircraft I really love and want to go all out.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  10 місяців тому

      That's a really fair point and I think very similarly. I actually prefer 32nd scale overall, at least for WWII fighters but the time, expense and space required sort of curb my ambition a bit ...

    They no longer offer this kit on a single buy, you have to buy three Hurricanes which tripled the price. It was initially offered on preorder deal and first pre-order kits sold out , they decided not to sell it as a single if you are buying direct. I went to Tamiya and got an awesome kit with ground crew for much better price. I'll NEVER BUY FROM ARMA, AFTER THIS BAIT AND SWITCH

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  10 місяців тому

      So I just went to the Arma website to check on this. The kit is available singly, but currently only in the newer desert release guise. It's the same kit, just different decals - I suppose stock is running low on the first release. Bearing in mind that you can buy this kit from model shops everywhere, I think maybe you could look at picking one up elsewhere. It is a beautiful kit after all.

      @@JenesisDesignsandModelcraft thanks, when I checked they first said It was discontinued " in that box art" and their reply said it was going to be a triple buy. , I checked again and it showed not available pre order send status request. . Call me stubborn, my tolerance these days is like an aircraft carrier anchor. Model kits have gone sky high and if a company doesn't have good marketing Acumen, there are many fish in the sea. I order a few kits from ICM with no problem and they are at war. Kotare is another company I Stay away from. Their Spitfire kit sucked. Thanks again for responding, the Tamiya kit was shipped on time from Japan received in 5 days from order with incredible packing and excellent pricing. Kind of hard not to respect that compared to a company who will take your money before having the product and run. Its their job not mine to provide quality kits and customer service if they are going to compete with the big boys., I'm sure they won't miss me. Happy Modeling, Cheers

      @@c123bthunderpig the "Tamiya" Hurricane kit is a rebox of the Italeri kit, which is riddled with errors, some minor, some very noticeable if you know anything about Hurricanes. I call it the "where's wally" kit, the more I look the more I find. The 1/48th Arma kit is the best Hurricane kit available in any scale, and contains details and options not in any other kit. I'm not sure why you think the Kotare Spitfire kit sucked, it's been very highly rated.

      @@troysmith5144 the Tamyia kit " Rebox" kit suits me fine and is quite nice and includes some excellent history of the Hurricane.. Like I've mentioned ARMA screwed me and I typically don't let that happen , at this juncture they could give me the kit and I would burn it. As far as Kotare, they rushed the hell out of the kit trying to get it to market and compete with Airfix and didn't have the balls to engineer it with an engine . Plus it was priced higher than I expected and not very available on line. So I remain steadfast in my stuborness however I appreciate your update. Happy Modeling and Cheers.
