Great episode! It's amazing what we took for granted back then and people didn't seem to realize how well built these cars were. Only now with new cars having so many problems with computer dominated systems, failing multi speed transmissions and overall poor reliability do we genuinely appreciate this old caprice's qualities.

The "chip" in the key is actually a resistor and there are only 14 possible resistor values. I've seen guys who needed a second set of keys (but didn't want to pay the higher price) disconnect the wires that go to the cylinder and solder their own resistor between the wires so that any properly cut key would work...

That is a beautiful Caprice with a nice color, it is sad how rare these have become... I had a 91 as my daily driver for 12 years, I think the cloth interior of the 91-93 models were much more better looking.
Hey there Pat. The foliage right now is simply glorious! I really was hoping it would show when I was filming so I'm glad it did. Thanks thanks for stopping by to. I always appreciate when you visit. Take care my friend!
That car cleaned up nice. You always seem to treat the cars you buy like they're royalty and they always turn out amazing. Keep up the good work. Also, what cutting/buffing compound do you use with an orbital polisher to get that shine?
Hey there my friend! Thank you for the kind words and I really appreciate that. I've been using compound and polish from 3M. I comes in a dark blue bottle and one cap is white while the other is blue. I get it from a NAPA paint supply shop near me. It's super pricey but I really like how it works. I have a DA polisher from Amazon and an assortment of foam pads and it always seems to get me nice results.
That has the 4.3 liter V8, based on the LT1. Chevy only used it for 3 years from what I understand. Does anyone know if any other GM vehicles besides Caprice ever came with the 4.3?
My friends dad had a 81 Grand Prix with a 4.3 v8. But it wasn’t this L99. The GP was 265 cubic inches. But GM did have a 4.3 v8 for years, just don’t think they were the same as this Caprice. I stand to be corrected l
The Caprice turned out great! I'm a bit skeptical about the price back east for these though over here on the west coast leather and the 5.7 LT1 caprices and roadmasters with posi rear ends go for what you paid at auction. But hopefully if you've sold this already you got what you were hoping for, either way love how the caprice turned out.
Great video! Your daughter's friends never know what she might get dropped off in! This time it was like an FBI car from an episode of The X-Files. This might my favorite car in the fleet, but that police spec street appearance Dodge Charger is very close.
I'm pretty sure there is no chip in the key, although GM did want you to think so. It just uses some resistance across a couple of contacts. And if it's not the one that expects, it doesn't work. Easily defeated
How are these rear wheel drive cars in the snow? I know that you've had a few panther platform cars and would love your input on that. Beautiful car. I love the color. We had a '96 LeSabre in that same color and it was elegant.
For Someone So knowedgeable - seems like you would know how important it is to put a large tranny cooler on this ... that L60 4 speed overdrive auto might be pricey to replace ... I do appreciate how much you like it - our '96 LS is nearing Stage One completion .

She sure cleaned up nice. Could those dings have been hail damage? I can’t see an acorn leaving dents like that. Maybe black walnuts.
I had a 95 caprice and it was so comfortable.
That is a beautiful Caprice with a nice color, it is sad how rare these have become... I had a 91 as my daily driver for 12 years, I think the cloth interior of the 91-93 models were much more better looking.
You can get the plastic sheets that you can put the paper tags in at wal mart, very cheap and work great
Beautiful car and it looks great with the Fall colors.
Hey there Pat. The foliage right now is simply glorious! I really was hoping it would show when I was filming so I'm glad it did. Thanks thanks for stopping by to. I always appreciate when you visit. Take care my friend!
Good morning Chris from Morocco i hope you have a amazing weekend ❤
Good afternoon to you my friend in Morocco!
@@hullinger thank you so much Chris 👍 beautiful car
I think that caprice will definitely bring 8 or more on cars and bids. Beautiful car
@@hullinger Is it the perfect it kit? Because you are right, it is a little pricey. But you can't argue with the results.
1996 was a r.i.p for full size gm cars.
The Caprice really cleaned up well. Great job Chris! What engine is that? Thanks for posting!
That has the 4.3 liter V8, based on the LT1. Chevy only used it for 3 years from what I understand. Does anyone know if any other GM vehicles besides Caprice ever came with the 4.3?
@@moonbeamskies3346 Thank you!
@@moonbeamskies3346 5.3 Same engine in the Impala SS Those guys go for near $10,000 . Buick Roadmaster.. Fantastic car LT1
@@zeroforzero546 No it's a 4.3 V8, the smaller option that year
My friends dad had a 81 Grand Prix with a 4.3 v8. But it wasn’t this L99. The GP was 265 cubic inches. But GM did have a 4.3 v8 for years, just don’t think they were the same as this Caprice. I stand to be corrected l
That is such a sharp looking classic
I like your videos and that’s a great car.
Thank you for the kind words.
Great nice car Man 👍👍👍
You did a great job cleaning up that Caprice!
Came out beautiful! Not sure about 8K though.
Yup, I agree. I can't see it bring $8k either but I'm hopefully! Thanks man!!!
@@hullinger I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Very nice ride!..Those dwings are more than likely from falling pine cones..you said the car was covered in sap...pines are the worst for that
I liked the first year of this model when the rear wheels were covered almost like the old time wheel skirts
A nice car.I like the color and the interior.
The bubble Caprice is a nice driving car....
I always wanted one of those.
The Caprice turned out great! I'm a bit skeptical about the price back east for these though over here on the west coast leather and the 5.7 LT1 caprices and roadmasters with posi rear ends go for what you paid at auction. But hopefully if you've sold this already you got what you were hoping for, either way love how the caprice turned out.
i liked the 1970's and 1980's full size chevys.
The color reminds me of the Medium Willow Green I had on my grand marquis. You got a good one there! Have you tried laminating the tags you print?
With the paper tags, find an old liscence plate and tape the paper plate to it with box tape. Or u can use cardboard as a backing.
Hummm, interesting and good to know.
How are these rear wheel drive cars in the snow? I know that you've had a few panther platform cars and would love your input on that. Beautiful car. I love the color. We had a '96 LeSabre in that same color and it was elegant.
Where was that cool junk yard in Pennsylvania that you visited during the summer ? I need to get some old parts for my mail jeep. The name again?
great shots
For Someone So knowedgeable - seems like you would know how important it is to put a large tranny cooler on this ... that L60 4 speed overdrive auto might be pricey to replace ... I do appreciate how much you like it - our '96 LS is nearing Stage One completion .
I would get a laminated and once it's printed run it through there... I've also seen bags that are meant for licence plates
Great tip man and thanks for that.
Beautiful car.
Nice job on the car, love it.
Wonderful car!
My first car was a 91 caprice with 34,000 original miles
Amazing car do u still have it?
Love those cars and really love the ss version.
Great ride.
