@The_Not_So_Great_Cornholio Oh easily. I think Roger provided that certain manic energy that gave the big four that certain "zing" that makes them absolutely fantastic albums. And I do like The Final Cut and a couple of his other solo albums, like Pros and Cons. But the man isn't just a huge tool, He's an entire Home Depot at times.
I remember reading somewhere that Roger has 3 favorites from his career: Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Amused to Death. That could be wrong though.
Yes,, Roger DID say this. His tone was that these three albums all sort of tie in together nicely. I think he might have said this near or around the time he toured DSOTM, in 2006-2007, although I can't remember for sure, exactly where or when he declared this, but you're not imagining it, that's for sure. 👍
'The final cut' for me. An deep, thoughtful and very emotional album, it's very affecting. It features 4 great Gilmour guitar solo's...Roger's writing is taken to another level, and the orchestration and piano playing is beautiful
I couldn't get through the first 2 songs. I already heard the Wall. Don't need a follow up. Next idea please 😂 The band is better when collaborating. Nowadays, Roger just loves the sound of his own voice. I do love him though, saw his last Drill tour, and was a good show
Roger the mastermind, Gilmour my favorite guitar player , albums DSOTM , animals , the wall , Final Cut the version with the song when the tigers break free , wish you were here and echoes live …. Amused to death Waters solo is much better than any PF WITH NO WATERS IN THE BAND …. Mastermind, top 5 lyricist in Rock history
Go back and listen to Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason. I was like you, but I decided to give them another shot. They were really good and better than any solo album.
I believe Roger would also hold The Final Cut as one of his personal favourite Pink Floyd albums as it might be the most personal Pink Floyd album and it also indicates his Solo career too soon come.
Well i don't know what's his favorite album is, but he said in the interview, that he loves pre-Dark Side of the Moon the best, because they were very cooperative and didn't argue much
Fave song.. echoes Fave album.. animals. All 4 add something amazing. Nicks book is incredible and his character is so humble. Pink floyd is a collective unit but all albims are brilliant. Even their solo albums.
My favorites are the Wall & Final Cut: The Wall: I love the wall because I grew up listening to it like even before I knew how to read, my parents played it a lot around the house and in the car. Also I love the story of the wall every time I hear the album or watch the movie I feel connected with the main character as if it was me going through the same thing in a few hours lol and I love that feeling i get from it! The Final Cut: makes me feel like an aftermath of the wall even though most of the album is backstories and political statements it feels like a continuation of the wall and I remember discovering the album when I was starting college living on my own (all though I heard of it before because I already knew “The Final Cut” & “Two Suns In The Sunset”) but having discovered all the songs from this album playing a lot throughout the winter and fall gave it amazing vibes, definitely made the year feel a lot better having discovered it
He has said in many interviews that the album he's most proud of is Dark Side. Im not sure if it STILL is , but i know that Dark side WAS on the billboard charts for over 40 years . NO other album ever even came close.
Roger is CRAZY, but anyways, there's a general consensus among the band that Dark Side Of The Moon was their most cohesive album, and one where they all really worked as a team
The Wall, is Roger Waters, view of his own life, he did say the Beatles gave him the inspiration to create that album. It will be the Wall his favourite for obvious reasons.
I have a hunch that is The Final Cut. It was all about his own personal feelings in relation to a war that killed his dad. It might have not been the best seller but emotionally the most meaningful. But I might be wrong.
I definitely agree with Mason that ASOS held the foundations that Floyd would build various projects from for years to come. But no one said my favorite album, Animals.
oldschool trippy floyd(syd) soundtrack to your THC addiction Obscured,Atom,Meddle,Dark side, Wish. Alcohol floyd: Animals, Wall. Scorefloyd/rearviewfloyd/Selfpityfloyd/Suitfloyd/Auntfloyd: Wall/Momentary/division My favourite is the trippy floyd time and the THC floyd(mostly in company).. but i also drowned apart in the selfpityfloyd (mostly alone)
So sad what became of the lad. Anyway, what about Syd? Isn’t he at least worth a favorite song poll? I know he wasn’t around for 90% of the albums but he was the heart and soul of the group when it formed and there would never have been a Floyd without him.
Roger pretends as if the other members weren’t important, he thinks music is judged by lyrics and writing. And while that’s true, that’s not the entirety of it. If Rick, Nick, David, or Syd never existed, Roger waters would’ve been some nobody.
The absolute reverence that Roger has for the original DSotM in his new version tells me that that’s his favorite Floyd album. The lunatic laughter on Brain Damage is replaced with him laughing at the absurdity of the idea of remaking it.
There is no best Pink Floyd album. All, regardless of lineup, are only a portion of a whole. Why break it down, cut it up, divide it, deconstruct the unique creative genius of its totality.
They all said Darkside Of The Moon; The reason they agreed on that album, they believe, that album, involved their tender effections, or emotions. The album DSOM is about the increased madness of a modern world, and how many are fragile mentally, because of it. I honestly believe they had there finger on the pulse woith that album. We may never realise it, what we actually yearn is all written in the bible. Roger has read, but for all his genius, has not understood iots secret. So they continue with this independent thinking.
Whenever I listen to pink Floyd I find myself listing to animals more then dsotm or the wall. To me animals is great cause all the songs are good. With the wall of dark side it’s like you’ve got skip some songs when listening to it. The filler songs. For instance on dark side: speak to me, on the run and any colour you like.
Agree with? Syd Barret. Don't think David and Roger should have went to court over the name Syd came up with. Rerecording Pink Floyd album without Pink Floyd is going to be disaterous. No Gilmour? No Rick Wright? On Dark Side? I'll just listen to the original.
He thinks he's Paul McCartney during the Wall but worse, I wrote this so I want it this way . I hate him doing David's vocals. Now he thinks dark side is all him . And I always considerd Gilmour to be the highest profile having worked with tons of people Roger has only done Floyd and I me mine
Radio Waves was a dud...The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking was ok and The final Cut was blah...but I will say that there were six great albums of his that did have one thing in common ;Both Richard and David were on them.
I saw The Division Bell tour twice in 2 different cities ..it didn't feel like I was watching a cover band like Roger sings for .. Roger is a trip ! ..
Dark Side will always be my favorite, right behind Comfortably Numb and Echoes! Waters is legendary for his dark lyrics and powerful arrangements but doesn’t seem capable of writing upbeat or uplifting lyrics! Gilmore IS the heart and soul of the music along with liked mindedness of Rick Wright and Nick Mason
When selecting numbers for the Best of album 'Echoes... the best of Pink Floyd' in 2001, Gilmour stated that Roger wanted almost every song from The Final Cut to be included. Of course the others turned him down on that.
R E is a bad man, not as a musician....look what he has done to Rick.....wish you were here, the best of them together......but thr best is coming....a momentary....sorry, my opiniom
Roger has done a lot of great things with and for Pink Floyd.....he's also done a lot of hurtful egotistical, and stupid things to the rest of the band. It's wonderful to have a natural ability to write lyrics, but without the right music to go with it...what's the point? I've watched Roger rant and rave over the years and to be perfectly honest, IMHO, he's a broken record. Just move on already.....you walked away, so keep walking. David, on the other hand only talks about Roger when asked, while Roger has gone out of his way to make remarks and comments unnecessarily. David is pretty soft-spoken and always comes across as a gentleman and while I'm not saying he's without flaw, he certainly seems to have carried himself a lot more maturely and controlled than Roger. I always thought David had an amount of class...even when he was a long-haired, beautiful hippie. It's a shame, really.... they WERE friends at one time.....

Roger's favorite Pink Floyd album is Dark Side of the Moon. Until recently it was Nick's favorite as well.
For everyone bashing Roger Waters on this site just think for a minute where did you get the idea to bash this guy? Do you not feel manipulated?
Most Floyd fans know their music is political, not all but most. However, I believe Waters can take political jargon a bit too far. IMHO

The Wall, no doubt. He’s done it all with his mind mostly, without suggestions from other members.
The Wall was pretty much Roger's magnum opus
I have a hunch that is The Final Cut. It was all about his own personal feelings in relation to a war that killed his dad. It might have not been the best seller but emotionally the most meaningful. But I might be wrong.
