Not an expert here, But also trying to get into gymnastics (complete beginner), I think that you should as it would make some skills easier, however I do not know for certain.
I am not a expect or anything but rn I am working on the easy things like splits per example so I would recommend trying to do the easy parts first then move on to the harder things in gymnastics so u can have some skill of doing this so just flow ur heart that’s all u can do

Srsly? These r super easy! I can already do my handstand, kickover, pullover, front flip, and a few more! Maybe it's it's bc u don't stretch enough. Stretch before doing any gymnastics or u can sprain urself.

I got the splits in 3 weeks at 26 years old from tutorials by Twisted Sisters and Jujimufu. Jujimufu recommends holding a 10lb weight over your head. I can't do a backward roll or pullover but I can do the other ones.
my coach told us not to do headstands NO MATTER WHAT! your blood rushes to your head and they have had over 100 kids pass out from it! so we aren’t allowed to do it!
Emily probably because when you are a teenager it's quite common to pass out, especially for girls. I passed out so many times back then. All those hormones and stuff are quite a lot for the body to deal with. So doing a headstand on top of that is probably not the best idea 😂 but it gets better once you get older and I guess for adults headstands are okay? 😂
That's why I was feeling light headed and my limbs were jelly. My friend was helping me do a handstand and when she caught my legs she kept me doing a handstand for like 15 seconds and then I said thanks that's enough now. And when I got off, I felt light headed and my limbs were jelly.
Alyson Boyle this is just what my coaches said. i dont know then. ima level 6 gymnast and they took it off our skill list to move up. that’s just my gym tho. you can do it i was just informing people that that’s why my gym said since these are beginner gymnastics skills. ok. not trying to be rude.

I’m trying to relearn my gymnastics- here is where I am at-
Splits- no
Forward roll- no
Backward roll- yes
Cartwheel- almost
Headstand- almost
Handstand- yes
Bridge- kinda
Pullover - don’t have a bar
Candlestick-yes
Split leap- no
I am self taught, so I will be trying to learn all of these at home! I’ll keep everyone updated in 4 weeks

This really helped me because I always dreamed to be a gymnast
I can doooooo:
Forward roll
Backwards roll
Split leap
Headstand (for pretty much as long as I want)
Cartwheel (pretty much perfect)
Handstand for 7 seconds
Candlestick
Straddle
Kickovers (working on them)
And some other stunts like leg holds ect.
