Im not sure if it's something I started but I know her name is spelled main but in English it's pronounced differently than what it would be in Japanese. So I just took the liberty and did that because one it sounds like a cool sith name and two it can still be pronounced as mine but spelled myne!

The anime always says "Main". I tend to put my faith on the Light Novel, which uses "Myne".... well for the first two parts, that is.
Also I believe at the end when she is Rozemyne. They use the Rozemyne spelling. Basically Myne is the one that any who have read either the Light novels or Manga will probably use. It was probably the translators for the anime simply picked Main instead for some reason.

To put this into perspective, the blue haired guy is the second strongest magic user in the Duchy, just behind the Duke himself. And Myne was strong enough that just her releasing a portion of her overflowing mana was enough to stop him from moving when he wasn't even the person she was angry with and intentionally focussing her mana on.
I think that's a bit people keep forgetting. She wasn't also trying to crush Ferdinand, but she had enough power she was simultaneously crushing the priest and restraining Ferdinand.

At that point in the series IIRC a serious Ferdinand would still be able to handle Myne if he really wanted.

Still one of my favourite scenes in the LN. Especially since right after, Ferdinand is like "I did tell you to show off, but yeesh. Way to overshoot the target." Meanwhile Myne wasn't even halfway done when he told her to stop lmao

I think part of why mynes anger hits so hard is that she is a logical capable adult. She knows her magic is able to kill that man. That's what she wants. It isn't some child losing control and being unable to retract it's someone with the strength to pull away but is actively making the decision to stay.
Though she's lived a whole life already, with a family that presumably loved her. This is also her family now, and she loves them too.
They endangered her family, to which her father rose in defense. Then they summarily sentenced him to die...for DOING THE RIGHT THING.
Yup...she snapped...hard. She knew exactly what she was doing.
No, actually she does not know she could kill somebody. She was completely unaware of what was going on around her. In fact, she thought it’s funny that he was afraid of her. In the scene following this when people recount what actually happened she’s horrified.
And she wonders why her parents would raise such a strange child

At this point in time, Ferdinand has more money than she does. And now she doesn’t know her limit. In the books she asked Ferdinand several times does she really have that much more mana than other people? And then the Academy it becomes blatantly obvious to her that she has more than other people as she interacts with them.
Ferdinand knew she had a lot. But this demonstrated she had a lot more than even he thought.
Truthfully I like when she shows her RAGE, however I think the showing of power with the Staff of Regrowth is shows it better because of the Comparison VS the Twerp in armor.

The guy is actually a really weak noble. He was sent to the temple because his magic capacity was so low. His mother was happy because he was allowed back to the noble family bc of mana lacking.
@@Hawaiiwong Which doesn't stop other knights, including some fairly high ranking Erhenfest archnobles ( as the Knight Commander, and his two elder sons ), and even Ferdinand for that matter, to be utterly shocked ;). And, as it's pretty clear here, she didn't break a sweat in the slightest ( In fact, according to the LN, she didn't even open the box entirely. ).

As for her mana capacity and quality, she's a freaking monster. At this moment, she was probably already Royalty-class, maybe more, considering the state of the Royalty...

She healed a whole area to the point where trees and herbs grew to maturity also the time she melted snow in a territory from winter to spring(Giebe actually mentioned it's closer to summer). 😉

The melting of the snow in Haldenzel was more due to the magic tool that was embedded in the stage than her raw power. It used up a ton of mana, sure.. but they commented that they should be able to do it without her in following years.
Her biggest "power" here was having access to the special prayer in the High Bishop's bible to make it work.

I can even bring grass, to a dirt, field.
That dirt field had just held a 'moving tree' that grows and moves at such rapid rates that it drains the nutrients, mana, and life force of anything within its radius or whatever it touches with its branches/tendrils. That entire area had been rendered sterile and bereft of life, mana, or any sort of sustainability. Left alone, it would take years to decades for it to recover. Using her own mana (because there was none ambient in the area) she not only replenished the life force of the area, spawned new life to help sustain it, but was still going when the Head Priest cut her off. It was a pretty good show of her level of power versus what people (more specifically nobles) considered those who have power to begin with.
So it would be more apt to say it could bring back life to an area of death.

this is one of the best rage mode power displays ever caus when her mana leaks out she stops talking like a kid and istead speaks like some angle/god is possesing her body

I love the Vader theme, a great touch! What I really like about this scene is that you only really fully understand everything about this scene much later. For one, the fact that She can overwhelm Ferdinand's mana is really important to why Ferdinand takes certain actions, as well as one of few times he is genuinely afraid and not in control of the situation.
The more you learn about noble culture and how Ferdinand thinks, the more his reaction actually makes sense. Since nobles always hide their emotions and if she were to kill the scumbag, it is obvious she and her parents would be executed. From a noble point of view they should be deathly afraid of angering those of higher status for just this reason. Later on, the same thing is shown with Damuel, who is a low ranked noble, versus Shikza, who is of higher rank. Despite going against orders, Damuel still could not afford to go against a higher ranked noble that has a family that could make his life either very unpleasant or very short.
Ferdinand meanwhile, has no frame of reference for a commoner's point of view, nor that Main/Myne would rather die than let her new parents and sister be killed because of her. Especially now that she considers them to be real family and that she owes them a great debt for accepting her despite all the weirdness she shows, being a young adult in a child's body.
This is not Vader's team this is palpatine's Darth sidious if you will, but I get your point!
Adding Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious Theme was really a very awesome and badass idea.

Ferdinand's shocked expression when Myne started crushing wasn't to the fact that she was crushing the high priest. To perform the crushing you need more mana than your target and the high priest had very little so for a girl with the devouring it wasn't too shocking.
No what actually happened, is that nobles can sense when someone has more mana than them, this is why only Damuel was able to sense the source of mana in the forest as he had the lowest mana. But they have a hard time reading the mana of children, unless their mana is surging. When Myne let go and started crushing the high priest Ferdinand knew Myne had significantly more mana than him. He knew at that point that Myne could and would overpower him. As a reminder Ferdinand is no slouch in the mana department so this actually scared Ferdinand.

It is in that moment Ferdinand realizes that the strange, frail child, holds back an ocean of power acquired only by sheer will to survive. I feel like that is a mistranslation from the novel you read, because Ferdinand has more mana than she does and he was still hit by it. IIRC, the novel I read (from bookwalker) said that having less mana means you have no defense against it, not that it doesn't affect you at all if you are even or have more. Which makes sense, since Bezewanst is seriously lacking in the mana department.

Even after mastering her 4th level of mana compression during her first year at the academy, she still had less mana than Ferdinand. She's going to continue growing, and will eventually have far more... but even at volume 19, he's still beyond her (though, at that point, he's also learned the new mana compression technique)
He has, however, mentioned that she is very close.

@@absentmindedjwc During the winter mana dedication he said she was the only person that could be in the room with him. I assume that was because during the dedication they're both putting out so much power it's dangerous for anyone else.
I would expect him to be stronger. She may have a better mana compression technique, but he's been doing it longer. Plus, the only reason he's in the temple is politics, unlike the other nobles. I think her mana level was originally at the lesser noble stage, but her compression has increased it to mid to upper level.

Yup, Shikza has no more than a laynoble, (he was sent to the temple due to lack of mana) on top of not having the ability to compress his mana before being an adult. Myne has unconsciously compressed hers to an insane degree so she could survive for years, always bordering on death. Their mana capacity can’t even be compared ool

I think it fits the full control and manifestation of Myne's Mana and how effective and expansive is.

I loved the first scene, and when I saw the second scene I at first thought "no way this works" but power coming off the staff in sync with the music, the looks of fear in the knights eyes, and the wave of "creepy" green grass starting to overgrow everything...before Ferdinand stoped her...totaly fit. The fact that she kinda of got lost in what she was doing and was barley getting started really does punctuate how scary her overpowered mana really is.

If anyone has a hard time visualizing what happened. Remember in fairy Tail when Natsu challenged Gildarts during the S-rank trials and Gildarts let his magic flow freely thus making Natsu shit his pants? Yes, it's the same exact thing. Myne simple let her power flow freely.
Or Ainz in season 3 ep8 when he showed that poor worker his true magic level in the LN and she was unable to do anything but panic scream in between vomiting.
Actually, in the light novel, the mana she used was simply what escaped the "box" she kept shoving it into in order to not die from too much mana. She hasn't opened that box yet. She overpowers everyone without needing to.

From what I gather, Rozemyne is more powerful in comparison to age and will surpass him once she grows into her power fully.
She actually helps him become stronger by (spoilers) teaching him a more advanced form of mana suppression (spoilers end).
I think Rozemyne is the most powerful and most talented mage in the series but I'm also 90% sure the series is eventually going to pair them together since (spoilers) they are the only two people powerful enough to procreate with each other (spoilers end).
So, that bookworm has joined the Empire and the Dark side...

This girl became such a Savage when she's gotten to the point of just nonchalantly crushing a dude just to get information out of him. He lived of course, but Myne also nonchalantly threatened him to keep his mouth shut about what she did to him. I couldn't stop smiling as I read the passage over and over again. Myne has come a long way since her first crushing on the former High Bishop.
I can't wait to see savage Myne in the anime.

When I first posted this I tried with the intention to have the music I put over it, to drown out the other background music but due to me not realizing that not only did I drown out the background music, but also the character voice lines as well so I had to take it down and reupload it and try to make it were we could hear the characters while the music was playing downside being you still kind of hear the original soundtrack behind it so I had to find a compromise and this is the best I could do! I hope that's alright!

This anime has a rather interesting take on isekai that I really like. The actual powerlessness she faces due to the system despite being OP herself knowledgeable-wise and mana-wise. The different take on magic and how mana is used in the world. I've caught up to all of the anime so I am really looking forward to a new season
she isn't powerless to change the system, she just isn't ruthless enough to do so, popping a select few heads and making strict declarations and everyone would fall in line, as history has shown.

It is an Isekai anime based off of a series of Japanese light novels.
The young girl is the main character.
In the first episode she is a modern Japanese librarian and lover books. She dies and wakes up as a sickly five year old in a medieval village.
It’s a small village and they go deeply into studies of the civilization, and the people. And as you can see in the video after five or six episodes she discovers all this magic in this world. And we learned that this isn’t the past.
This anime has a missleading art style, I though that it had a bad animation, but it is amazing! Never dissapointed.
This whole scene was better action animation that I expected from this show. It was a good reminder that Myne's isekai dad is a soldier, with his hand-to-hand combat skills, and Myne's magical powers are well animated also
Yes the animation seems so simple at first, but everything was executed so well. You really could tell the difrence between a trained soldier and a bunch of assistant preists... the assistants got messed up. And Myne's magic is not really fighting... it is one blessed by the gods letting just a little bit lose when she could probaly kill everyone in the room. Magic and fighting rarly get used in this show, but when used it is crushingly effective.

It's not so much that she flexed her magical muscle, it's just that Shikza was really that weak. Many of the people there - with the proper prayer - could have managed at least most of what she did (with several likely being able to exceed her). They were surprised to see a priest able to do it, though, since priests are generally pretty weak. The exception to this is Ferdinand, who has a mana capacity above Myne.
Also Sylvester (the blue priest that has been in a couple season 3 episodes)..... who has a higher mana capacity than Ferdinand for reasons that will become known at the end of this season.

About the Myne's mana capacity, I believe that at this moment yes, she has less mana than Ferdinand, but that was changed during the sleep, I think that during her journey to get the magic wand is where is confirmed that her mana is absurd (but the people thought that was because other week constitution), where her mana was liquified, and after that was the new compression method also

I seem to recall that, even after that, she is still slightly behind him. But it is assumed that she catches up (and surpasses him) quickly as time goes on.
Ferdinand is still growing given the compression method working on adults, but it was mentioned that the primary growth phase of mana was through the teenage years.
She’ll absolutely pass him… but I do not believe she’s there quite yet.

The knight barely even fix half of the circle and was panting while the child they pick on cause she's not of noble status seems to not only finish what they started but was also seems to be able to keep going.
you also gotta remember that because this is a circle, doubling the size of the circle is actually covering 4x the area.

I saw some UA-cam videos using the imperial March and I thought that's way too much for the scene. Sidious themes is more subtle something I would describe as controlled anger!

Oh wow, the edit I did not know I needed. Emperor Palpatine's theme music fits so well. Darth Myne just like Darth Palpatine just wants to bring peace...but to some misguided rebels that don't know better she seems pretty creepy. Lol watching the show you don't understand why anyone would want to hurt such a sweet child, but this kinda helps me see the other sides point of veiw lol.

I’m just going to drop to all the people new to Ascendance of a Bookworm and just finding this video. There is a whole light novel to read that goes wayy more in depth with the lore/characters and is totally worth reading if you enjoyed the anime!

The prayer was basically her preparation speech before she started to go all out, when for others the speech is the part where they pour all of their power and concentration into. Meaning we were ACTUALLY YET TO SEE what would've happened here if Ferdinand didn't stop her. If she would've used maybe a third? Half of her mana? Maybe she would've stopped then? Heck, I bet an entire huge forest would've just sprung out of the ground if she would've continued like this.

Just FYI yall, this is more of an economic anime, there is some magic in it but it's far from the main driver.

As we get into Part 3 the magic will take a much more central stage in the story (and even more so in Part 4). The economics are still there but they take a little bit of a backseat compared to learning about noble society and magic.
Glad that the studio really love this series and atm we about to get the another season which is a 4th season of amazing anime.

i have watched both season 1 and season 2 and am currently watching season 3 and i must say that music fit the 1st scene perfectly but it doesnt really fit the healing nature of the second scene
To keep the Darth myne thing going I did a medieval take on sidious's theme (which is not my song if you want the link to the song it's in the description above) myne has shown she's more powerful than any noble she's come across so far. This is the only song I could find that really cemented that she's using all this mana but it's not all her mana it's only a fraction of her power. You get what I mean it's like a show of force is what I was shooting for...
Think of it this way. In the expanded universe of Star Wars there have been a number of Sith Lords that have been capable of creating Life, craft the flesh, grow things, as well as twisting them.
Ferdinand realized first hand how much mana Myne has.

to be fair Ferdinand is still greater in Mana though. Ferdinand was being cautious because he didnt expect someone with really great Mana.
