Oh this was a Mike Smith track too. The use of syths had me thinking it was Scott Morgan's. Also no disrespect to Mr. Smith, but 1:23- 1:54 is my favorite part mainly for the riff. But you replacing the synth with trumpets in this part, made this rendition(no pun intended) chilling 1:54- 2:21 And you added a backing chorus too? Forget what I said, this is where this rendition gets chilling.
Ya know, Scott could very well be involved in some of these tracks but I don't have any data to prove that, I just assumed because it was some of the earliest DBZ work that Mike Smith must have been the one to compose it. Man I'm glad you enjoyed my additions :D Thank's for listening!!

Frieza’s such a memorable villain to me because (by DBZ standards) he’s the “realest” of them all. Cell and Buu are more in the realm of the fantastic, but behind all the power levels and the transformations Frieza and his trade organization are a fictional representation of imperialism and horror of a much more mundane kind. The scenes where they massacre the Namekians are always much more disturbing to me than the other villains even if Cell’s absorption or Buu’s magic tricks provide more of a visual spectacle. It makes him being left in pieces from his own attack and having to beg for Goku’s mercy the most satisfying end to any of the DBZ sagas for me, especially his complete failure to cheap shot him after that. “Meanwhile, you can lie there and think about what you’ve done, as you share the same fate as the planet you destroyed.” is such a cold line. I always loved how spooky and chaotic “Frieza Begs” and “Frieza’s Death” sounded too. This is an amazing job with the music and the drawings, especially at the end they really conveyed the dread Frieza represented. I don’t know enough about music to give any detailed feedback but you really got the emotion down (as per usual).
This is such a great comment! That’s a really good point about Frieza being realistic. I’ve always said he has always been intently evil, knowing the pain he inflicts, enjoying it sadistically. Thank you, I appreciate your attention to my creation here! The ending definitely creeped me out while I was making it, probably just staring into friezas snake-like eyes too long haha
Frieza, you evil evil bastard you, but awesome job on the theme! Another irredeemable villain alongside Palpatine, Aku, and many others! Even Madam Mim from Sword in the Stone can be considered just as evil despite the movie she was in. She heard someone coughing and not only commented on someone being sick, but hoped it was something serious and dreadful. His brother is still Cooler tho... -death beam'd for pun-
I swear I heard part of this before in the Legacy of Goku II. I know they remixed alot of Faulconer tracks in that game too. If that's true then this is next level and I wish more cover channels would incorporate some of those remixes cause they were sick.
Man I loved the legacy of Goku series- I wonder if there’s an emulator for Nintendo switch or something, would love to play them again :) I reckon if they had have made DBZ Kakarot more like Legacy of Goku, with the option to change to the Faulconer score I would never stop playing it 😁
You’re really welcome!! Your comment was very helpful, between coycoy’s rips and some other frieza compilations i was able to find my favourite parts, put them all together in an arrangement I liked and recreate them all ☺️ I’m really glad you enjoyed it and appreciate it!
Mike Smith had a great idea making Frieza theme and it's still iconic just like Chilling Elegy. Especially since this was played in the American soundtrack of Dragon Ball Z.
I know you get a lot of praise in here, but I have to tell you as someone who is extremely fussy with his music, covers, and remixes, you are likely the only person who has done Bruce Falconer music the right way in all the years I've heard various people trying to cover it and never quite hitting the mark or catching my attention. Well done sir.
I can feel that you appreciate the care I take with making these covers, thank you ☺️ The fact is, I fricken love this show and it’s music, both American and Japanese scores; I’ve made all kinds of music my whole life, honing my production skills for over 15 years and only recently I decided to make my own versions of these themes that I’ve always held dear to my heart. It’s a wonderful way for me to honour the music that inspired me when I was a kid while getting to share that with everyone else who also loved it.
@@GladiusThemesWell I definitely look forward to more. Are you going to do Dr Gero's theme? Definitely one of the creepiest in the series and I'd love to hear your rendition on it.
Freeza is my all time fav villain. A lot of people give props to the morally grey antagonists or the complex villains. And they are great. But with Feeeza, he is evil personified, its purest, most unfiltered form. Quintessential.
May be the first to say but this track describes frieza's forms perfectly. 1st form calm, yet a hint of what he is. 2nd form more aggressive same as him ( krillin impaled etc) . 3rd form even higher level as he went imto higher gear by torturing piccolo. Final form again calmer theme, but one can tell all hell is loose.
Although it was Mike Smith who made this (Scott came on board during the latter portions of this saga), it was said that Vince DiCola was an influence for what they were doing (besides the Vangelis Blade Runner). And I can see how. But I really have to say, it doesn't quite measure up to similar DiCola works, like Unicron's theme from the 1986 G1 movie.
The main theme is a pretty subtle theme that’s used in an ambient way in the show, but when it’s all put together with its variants it feels more fleshed out :) it is truly menacing!! Haha 🔥🔥👍 edit: wait, I think missed the reference there!!

Ominous music, and certainly befitting our favorite evil emperor. I always found it funny how unintimidating he was in a still frame. Just snap a picture of him just standing, not fighting or anything. He's odd. Like even just these drawings, while well done, aren't scary. Until you realize, as a fan, that's the face of a mass murderer, genocidal maniac, and a sadistic, cruel being. Sure, his short height, his funky transformations, and his childish demeanor and his purple lips seem goofy, but he's actually bone chilling to think about. Earth has something like 8 billion people. Nobody on this planet in its history has killed even 1 billion. Now imagine how many worlds, full of billions this monster has snuffed out? Yeah this music just isn't right. It's very befitting for this monster, because it has nothing that seems good in a good melody. It's beautifully written, sure, and you've made good work adapting it, but this man, and his music, they ooze evil and maliciousness, and it's perfect for a monster like him, of a caliber we cannot comprehend. And what's funnier about this, too, is the weight of fear someone had to have to see someone like Frieza in the flesh. How many people were silenced before he came across people like Nail? Do you think Nail realized that he was the man with billions of dead men behind him, and just realized he was about to be another? Chilling, to say the least. Anyways, very good work. I think this helped pull the humor out of this humorless tyrant for me. It's cold, and the melodies it has unsettle me greatly; an amazing fit for this man, as I think too many people don't really think of just how high this monster's murder count is. And, like you stated in your description, you finding all of these pieces and settling on a few must've been hard to determine, as if these were handpicked from dozens of clips of absolutely skin crawling evil tones for this piece. But, I can say that you indeed found a good set, because there was nothing but chills all over me, and not in a way of amazement, or of some feeling of greatness. But, man, you still can make people feel what you want with your music, and I am always here for it. Eager for your next piece as always, Gladius.
Your comments are always so epic they’re like reviews that I always look forward to reading 💜 I agree with your take, it’s not his appearance that’s initially scary, it’s the evil behind the eyes of a person that has taken trillions of lives and enjoyed it that’s completely chilling. And there were times making this where I could almost feel the presence of that evil in the studio- I didn’t feel that way when I made Buu or Cell’s themes. Frieza is in a class of his own when it comes to how dark he is. I wanted to challenge myself but Frieza is beyond despicable, I will have to take a break from him for a while 😅 It’s certainly more desirable on my end to make music that moves the soul towards something good, but yes, it turns out I do have the darkness inside me too 🥶 we all do. That said, I’m still glad you can appreciate it’s twisted beauty, thank you again friend 🙏🙏🙏
@@GladiusThemes I'm happy you enjoy reading these as much as I do writing them. I certainly enjoy offering my takes on everything you write, just because I know you'll appreciate it, and certainly because your music leaves a lot to be said about it, from how genuinely you preserve the original writer's intent in each song, to how you spruce up songs that seem to just be missing something, to the way you knock a few songs so far out of the park I would not be surprised if I saw it in an actual episode itself. I gotta ask, though, just out of curiosity, I don't really need to know the specifics, after all, surprises are best kept as that, but how many tracks do you tend to work on at once? Do you just hit a wall with one, but hop to the next, or are you a man who puts his head down, and goes only sequentially? I've always wondered this, and if you had some kind of list with everything you were planning on doing, and if you just made one, two or a few at a time. Again, I cannot wait for the next. Doing a relisten of this feels just the same as before. Unsettling in a supremely amazing way. EDIT: I just caught this, while paying attention to the parts, starting at 4:08, I hear that little bit that sounds too eerily similar to the spirit bomb theme you did. That's an amazing tie in, for such a hopeful technique to defeat the most dreadful of destroyers, and holy shit did I have to go back a few times trying to remember what in the hell that was from.
Good question- earlier this year I had period time where I was able to make about 10 pieces and draw the art for them in about 2 weeks, I was totally manic haha so I could have them archived and ready to release week to week. Now I only have time to work on one a week, as sometimes I have to attend to other projects (Spiderman Lotus was one of them). So, it’s all real-time, when you see me post on sundays, I have been working on that track, art and video all week leading up to it. It’s not ideal, as I would like to be able to release two a week, but things just keep coming up and I don’t have the time. I also spend too much time on art and would benefit from outsourcing that to someone else in the future. And yes! I do have a list and I know exactly what I’m going to do next to some degree, sometimes I change that decision depending on how I’m feeling but I know what I want to work about 5 tracks ahead.
That part you pointed out at 4:08 also happens in SSJ Transformation and Super Namek. It’s one of my favourite little bits and really defines not only the mood of the saga but just that feeling of hanging out in spite of the evil approaching you
Well, I can understand that feeling of not having enough time to do what you want to when you want to, but I've always legitimately wondered how artists tended to pace out their work. I can say that your art is always a welcome addition and I can see the effort put into it. I also, like your music, can see you really following close to the original with your own special touch on it, and when I realized you were doing all of it, I was really impressed, to say the least. Good artist overall, both with drawing and music, that's the Gladius I know.

Yes! Great way to start the day off, with a new cover by Gladius :)
☺️🙏 good morning to you!!
Oh this was a Mike Smith track too. The use of syths had me thinking it was Scott Morgan's.
Also no disrespect to Mr. Smith, but 1:23- 1:54 is my favorite part mainly for the riff. But you replacing the synth with trumpets in this part, made this rendition(no pun intended) chilling
1:54- 2:21
And you added a backing chorus too? Forget what I said, this is where this rendition gets chilling.
Ya know, Scott could very well be involved in some of these tracks but I don't have any data to prove that, I just assumed because it was some of the earliest DBZ work that Mike Smith must have been the one to compose it.
Man I'm glad you enjoyed my additions :D Thank's for listening!!
these DBZ mixes are insanely good
🙏☺️
Excellent musicianship and scoring! Thank you! This piece of music got me into music at a young age. I ended up getting my BA in Music. I look forward to Majin Theme when you are able to get to it. Thanks again!
Thank you!!! You're very welcome!! That's awesome to hear it got you into music :) DBZ music definitely shaped part of my musical perception when I was a kid. Ah it might not be the Majin Theme by name, but I'm doing "Babidi Casts Spell" at the moment and it should come out this Sunday :)
Dude I am loving your remixes of the original DBZ soundtrack, keep up the good work!

Mmmm fried chicken 😋 what a tasty compliment!
brilliant as always, my man. Great evil ambience.
Thank you my friend :) Was a tricky one to do but it came out nice and evil haha
I found it - the game track is called Trained Saiyans and its based off an unreleased Faulconer track called Frieza Powers Up!
Man I loved the legacy of Goku series- I wonder if there’s an emulator for Nintendo switch or something, would love to play them again :) I reckon if they had have made DBZ Kakarot more like Legacy of Goku, with the option to change to the Faulconer score I would never stop playing it 😁

Mike Smith had a great idea making Frieza theme and it's still iconic just like Chilling Elegy. Especially since this was played in the American soundtrack of Dragon Ball Z.
Amazing as always!
Freaking awesome! As a Freeza fan, I approve!
😃 great to have your approval my friend!!
Great job man 👏 I would love to hear your version of Piccolo Angry, of the American soundtrack.

You get it!! :) thank you!
@@GladiusThemes Not to sure if you used this resource but quite a lot to propose a part 2 ^_____________^; lol
You have spent as much effort on the artwork as the music, super badass 💜😅
That’s definitely true, I worked really hard on the whole thing :) thank you 💜💜

Although it was Mike Smith who made this (Scott came on board during the latter portions of this saga), it was said that Vince DiCola was an influence for what they were doing (besides the Vangelis Blade Runner).
And I can see how. But I really have to say, it doesn't quite measure up to similar DiCola works, like Unicron's theme from the 1986 G1 movie.

Can you tell me what that part at like 3:22 is from? Thats a blessed little inspirational handful of notes
Its like almost the ginyu force theme but kinda not right? Am i crazy lmao
Yes that’s correct! I believe it’s referred to as “Frieza-Ginyu Beat”.
I wanted to challenge myself but Frieza is beyond despicable, I will have to take a break from him for a while 😅
It’s certainly more desirable on my end to make music that moves the soul towards something good, but yes, it turns out I do have the darkness inside me too 🥶 we all do.
