@@prestonw9844 haven't gone pro but love it. Used the motion sensor to turn on roku lights automatically at night and then shut them off too. Pretty sick! I'm going to do a couple more videos showcasing some of that soon.

@@prestonw9844 I have to imagine that self monitoring is just as good unless you can't get to your phone in an emergency.
Thank you for this video, was in a different Walmart then my regular one yesterday and they had this on display i had no clue about it. So of course now going on UA-cam to see what it is all about, been wanting a new system for a while. Do you have any clue how far away the door/window sensors or motion sensors can be from the main unit ? Like to also secure my out building and garage.

I was thinking about getting a sensor for the garage but I don't know how far they go. I have the hub near the back door to the house and my sensor for the front door is able to connect.
My elderly mother is going to be setting off every alarm with forgetting the keypad code
Well hopefully set it to a number you remember and she can call you for that number

Does anything about the entire system integrate into Alexa or Google Home, Dave? Roku needs to work with more devices...either via 3rd party partner support with companies like Hue and Lutron? Or full on Matter support, which would be better...
Says on their website that it works with Alexa and Google Home. I personally believe in the idea that I want one platform with branded devices than multiple platforms with varied product manufacturers. You'll get an ecosystem that could quickly become broken. It's possible Roku will allow other smart home product companies to integrate their products with Roku OS but they haven't announced any partners yet.
@@davewelike I knew the cameras and bulbs do... Just didn't know if the security system carried over too. And yeah, while a singular ecosystem loyalty is nice? For me? It's not realistic. Hopefully someone will make a Home Assistant Roku Smart Home API integration at some point down the road, if not Roku/Wyze themselves supporting Matter specification like almost every other literal smart home company has signed on to do...
@@craigs.4302 How many smart home products do you have? Might not be possible today for them all to be in the same ecosystem but hopefully one day they could be. 😉
@@davewelike Wiz bulbs, Hue Bulbs, Lutron switches, Aqara sensors, Meross Garage Door Controller and Desk Lamps, Chamberlain MyQ controller, LG ThinQ Dishwasher & Clothes Washer, Bond Ceiling Fan controllers, Tuya desk fans, Amazon Echo Shows, Google Home Displays, Apple HomePods, Google TV boxes, Fire TV Cubes, Roku TVs and Soundbars, Google Nest Doorbells and cameras. Most of it all connected and controlled by Home Assistant on my Raspberry Pi 4.
Haha that's amazing! How's your family deal with all this? I do have Hue bulbs, GE appliances, Honeywell thermostats, garage door would be smart if internet reached it, Android TV with Roku Soundbar, Roku lights, Roku home monitoring, Roku doorbell. I'd love to get rid of the Hue bulbs but my wife likes the color of them better than Roku. I think it's much more difficult to select a color on Roku than Hue. Probably cost you a good amount to switch to Roku with the bulbs and sensors but might be something to think about it Roku continues to expand with Wyze products. Wyze definitely has a lot of products left that Roku has yet to make their own version of.
Looks almost exactly like the Wyze kit.
Roku Smart Home is like a white labeled Wyze built with Roku operating system so it works with Roku devices.

I wouldn't call it off brand. It's Wyze doing a white label with Roku so their operating system controls it.

There is one major flaw of these systems everyone overlooks if your power is shut off your internet goes down and this system is usless having your system on battery backup helps but if rhey cut your cable to your cable internet useless id atleast at minimum battback up roku hib and modem and router if they cut your internet thier experts and you go more issues than Roku can handle and should have a better system anyway
I think the hub has a built in battery. Don't know how long it lasts. If someone goes outside your home and cuts the power and cord, you seem more f...d than what any system will do. Call the police with your cell phone and pray.
That’s why I use Verizon 5G Business Internet and Home Internet. I have Business as a backup.
I don't think it's overlooked, it's all risk assessment and budget.
