Can the Ford Bronco Offroad with a 4 Cylinder Engine!?

- 👋 In todays video it's time to take the 2023 Ford Bronco Everglades to the trails and really see how it performs! This particular Ford Bronco Everglades had the sasquatch package which provides it with the 35'' tires, 17'' wheels and this Bronco also had a winch and snorkel!
In todays' video we wanted to make it a bit different and talk about the mechanics of this Ford Bronco! This model has the front and rear lockers and trail turn assist. It had the four wheel drive system, but was missing the front sway bar disconnect. So we wanted to start off in two wheel drive, see how far we could go and from there start to add the offroad nannies to see what it took!
For a factory SUV, this is so incredibly capable and it goes to show that with minimal modifications, you can tackle some pretty hard obstacles and do just fine!
The Ford Bronco is a great SUV and competitor to the Jeep Wrangler! The Wrangler does have a solid front axle, which does provide it with more articulation over the independent front suspension, but you do sacrifice on road performance. The Ford Bronco gives you the ride on road, but also can compete very closely with the wrangler offroad! It's a great option to go with and there are a ton of trims and options depending on what you want!
There are also three engine options, and in todays video, we tested the smallest, the 2.3L ecoboost four cylinder. It definitely got us through the trails, but seemed to be pushing it some. If you offroad occasionally, it would be fine, but I'd go for the ecoboost six cylinder. It's a lot of weight to push for the smaller engine, but it is available for those who want it.
It does great on road, has power to merge and then to even push these 35'' tires up the mountain!
The 2023 Ford Bronco Everglades was fun to offroad and great right off the dealer lot!

fun video, but on the slab/rock pile, please use 4lo for the gearing when actually going slow over ledges etc. In 4hi this was a good illustration of how much more throttle/transmission it takes to do it, where 4lo would be way better/give you more control. But always awesome to see vehicles out being driven. Well done guys.
As we showed in the video, we went from 2wd, to 4H to 4L. Just depends on the section, but was very controlled in every section!
Second this sentiment!! I understand you were testing 2wd vs. 4H vs. 4L, and cool to see that it's still capable of climbing in 4H. However by using 4H on some of those steep grades, you were forcing the 2.3L 4-banger to work harder than it needed to. 4-LO on those steep grades gives much more mechanical advantage and would have allowed that same climb without revving as high to get up the bumps. Referring to your outro comments where you mentioned sitting at 2500 RPM and not moving - if that was in 4H, you are punishing the engine and trans more than necessary and would even the playing fleld more between the 2.3L and 2.7L by using 4L on steep grades. (I have the 2.3 with manual, BTW). Nice review though... like the Everglades package with OEM winch.
I hope the channel is doing well. I enjoyed the video. I just bought the 2.3 liter black diamond. It shocked me at first I thought it was a 6 cylinder after driving my Subaru. This engine is nothing to sneeze at!
Thanks! Yeah we've been doing pretty good. These are pretty solid off roaders and fun to drive. Not a bad option
Amazing job with these off-road videos guys.
Glad you like them!
Nice demo fellas!
Just sub’d
Excellence video you guys. That was a great illustration of what this vehicle can do, like you said. I would also go for the 6.
Glad you enjoyed this video!
Amazing video guys.
Glad you enjoyed it!
It would have been nice to see more tests in 4L without lockers, I don't know why everything was done in 4H, I think there were many sections where the only thing you needed was 4L. but nice video, very entertaining and informative. does this trim come with 6Cil engine or only the 4Cil?
Solid
What part of Uwharrie NF is this? I'll be in NC next week from FL. Would love to check it out.
I think it’s Daniel. I’m not good with the trail names!
I've gone to Uwharrie and have done everything except for Daniel and Dickey Bell in my subaru forester wilderness, but it's been heavily modified, but that bronco with the 4lo and the lockers is pretty much cheat mode off road!
That’s not cheap mode at all! That’s the purpose of all the offroad settings. This could make it places the forester couldn’t.
@BrosFOURRSpeed oh, no, cheat mode lol not cheap. But that trim of bronco is definitely on my list of possible upgrades when I finally move to a proper 4x4, good to see just how capable it is off the showroom floor!
is that azure grey
Yup, you got it!
Hi
Hey!
The Bronco comes with a 2.3 lifer ecoboost as well.. the 2.7 is not the smallest engine option. Surprised you didn't know that
This Bronco had the 2.3L like we said, so very confused by that..
