The worst part is, that you can’t just leave. If you can prove you’ve been sexually assaulted, they work harder to keep you close and under their control. That’s what happened to me. When I spoke up for a friend who went through it. She’s so mentally broken now, that she’s no use to any case or legal battle
I remember just when I was about to finish my process in joining the army.. my mom and grandmother were happy that I ended not going due to health reasons. Especially after they heard Vanessa Guillen’s case. Honestly it’s messed up how a lot of these go either unnoticed or ignored
I was physically assaulted and beaten so bad that I had to crawl to my car. When I tried to report it, senior military officials didn’t believe their solider did this to me. It’s like we are under their control. Reporting assaults is traumatizing.
I listened too much true crime podcasts that this kind of incident always happened all the time. I'm just happy that she's safe since usually most victims end up being killed
Service members who perpetrate those acts should be rooted out by their superiors, peers, and subordinates, and at the very least, be stripped of all awards, commendations, and rank, and punished by all applicable military and civil laws. Preferably shot, but that’s not currently allowed.
Just an opinion, in no way associated with any gov agency. The mil is a very political organization. There's a reason no one actively serving can openly express their views to the public on problems big and small. This puts people like her (the reporter) on the defensive and the gov leaders on the offensive. This is why people are consistently treated like this, because everyone wants the perception that they are competent and can handle everything in their command despite obvious problems. Military justice is a joke.
As I get older, the more I realize that our government is very corrupt. It saddened me to realize this was the same in the military. I was in the air force, but due to my bad knees had to go to med-hold and get processed to be released. There were so many people doing nothing. I could just tell that we were all being purposefully punished for having to leave. Especially those with depression. They were treated worse than the individuals with physical health issues, like myself. I was just stuck there for months, getting paid and doing nothing. So much waste, and they're all getting paid with our tax dollars. It's absurd.
Sounds about right. Being in the military is the worst place to be sexually assaulted. Your abuser will be protected, while you are shunned, blacklisted, harassed, bullied and punished if you report it.
I think they're silencing her because it's the military & national public safety of reputation of the "United States military" - "the good guys fighting for the country" kind of thing, so I think that's why they are doing it...
I survived a series of brutal attacks which left me disabled. I lost my GI Bill, my medical care, and any chance of getting disability. There's no justice in the military for brutal crimes like this. I've spent many years homeless, and the VA has refused to help me in any way.
@@JamilaLoubrielModelActressNo way to tell for sure, but I'm guessing someone up the chain of command didn't want to get in trouble. It's easier to write "personality disorder" than to court martial a dozen soldiers, and deal with the bad publicity.
She should have went to the cops off base. That E-9 in SF screwed up and needs to go. They covered the whole thing up. An evidentiary exam needs to be conducted right away for two big reasons. First, to make sure she is ok. Second, to gather evidence.
I wish I wasn't surprised but the same thing happened when I reported DV from my fellow Officer and husband. Not at just one post, but three during 10 yrs of this from 2009-2019 (Fort Belvoir, Fort Irwin and Fort Sam Houston). I was silenced, bullied, harassed, punished, laughed at and shunned. I will never see the military the same.
Absolutely everyone who engaged in this coverup needs to be very publicly prosecuted or atleast named for such a massive miscarriage of justice and any future instances.
The story confuses the air guard and the national guard. The air guard is part of the air force reserved unit. The national guard is part of army reserved unit.

Not trying to start an argument or debate, but a little something I'd like to mention: One reason why even today people don't think military women should be allowed in combat, is because "men have an instinct to protect women, therefore a man would be too distracted because he'd be trying to protect the woman next to him." Well then, why do servicewomen even have to worry about being sexually harassed and/or sexually assaulted by their male comrades? Just saying...
I hope they get to the bottom and all the truth comes out. My brother was a sharps nco for a year. He said sometimes therr cases arent that black and white.
Why didn't she report the picture he sent of himself? Why didn't she speak to Sharp personnel after the first time, how was this allowed to happen more than 1 time? After the first time I would've spoke to jag, the colonel, sharp and everyone else. Also CID could've checked their phones and that would've proved her innocence. I hope she recovers
I think they should be required to have at least one female (or male if the opposite assailant) investigator for cases like this. It should be very open and reported to the public - the assailant, not the victim. And if the assault is proven, castration should be a possible punishment - especially for someone who commits multiple assaults. If the punishment fit more of the crime I think that might be a deterrent.
I think they should have a third party legal contractor to settle inter-military affairs altogether. Our taxpayer money is our choice. We vote for our leaders but why is this not being addressed? It's a despicable reality.

It's terrible, trust me. Everyone's experience is different, but it's consistently one of the worst if you're affected.
Military talks how tough they are but are cowards to stand up for a fellow soldier.
Just remember Vanessa Gullien.
Yes, it totally goes against their own Army Ethos, "I will never leave a fallen comrade".

That's what the soldiers were trained to do to women and children in the countries they invade. You women in the service are used for dry runs.
I hope she receives justice.
She will never receive justice. Their is not such thing as justice in the military.
I listened too much true crime podcasts that this kind of incident always happened all the time. I'm just happy that she's safe since usually most victims end up being killed
They do?? That's horrendous!!
I wouldn’t say most. While it is common there are countless assaults that leave the victim alive with their trauma they carry far into the future
When will they learn that covering up makes the org look 10x worse than just punishing predators appropriately
You don't understand. It's the culture. It's what they want to see happen.
