Fuckin’ eh rights! Slayer shall forever rule the universe with a crushing iron fist, but anyone who claims to NOT like ABBA is either lying or hasn’t heard them yet. Period. You put this jam on at 0200 at ANY party, wedding, or celebration anywhere, and every single person will immediately go bananas and start enthusiastically singing along while dancing with one another. That’s a timeless quality and universal appeal that few bands can say they enjoy. ABBA rocks the shit, and it’s as simple as that.

Benny usually wrote the music, but Bjorn conceived of the rhythm when he was jogging one day. He heard his feet going Chicka-CHICK Chicka-CHICK Chica-CHICK. And it got him thinking about lyrics. They turned it into Take a CHANCE, Take a CHANCE, Take a CHANCE.

ABBA is awesome. It's not an affair song, you guys have just assumed it is. Like someone else mentioned, the lyrics are "IF YOU'RE ALL ALONE, and the pretty birds have flown, honey I'm still FREE, take a chance on me". It's just a fun pop song where one person has a crush on another.

Let's not forget who actually invented the concept of videos of songs about 10 years prior to Abba. In the early Sixties, they were called promo films, and became a necessity for The Beatles, who were in the midst of Beatlemania. This helped satisfy the demand for a public appearance, so they started sending out promo films instead in order to satisfy their fans.

Partly because your parents and grandparents also liked them at the time. They were one of the few "Euro Pop" bands to make it big in the UK. hello again, nice to see you well, and with more ABBA songs!
"Take a chance on me" (1978)
is one of their best ABBA hits in all the world, the most selling song of ABBA in U.S. (more than Dancing Queen),
#3 in Billboard U.S. and their seventh #1 in UK Official Charts
This is one song than the vocals are more extensive than the music (They begin 'a capela' and singing at the end)
the blonde Agnetha is the lead vocal, her voice is so powerful, in perfect armonies and chorus with Anni Frid in co-leads vocal (and the boys in back voices singing repetitive the frase 'take a chance, chance')
Agnetha & Anni Frid have fantastic voices and harmonies together
    Agnetha is soprano
    Anni Frid is mezzo soprano
and together Made a 'three voice'
the guitarist Björn got the idea while jogging, by the sound of the footsteps he interpreted t-k-t t-kt and adapted it to "take a chance", so the song was born
Although it is a disco pop, it is like a constant and happy march, captivating, cloying and addictive
In the video the absolute center is the girls, very suggestive
A clarification: it was filmed a month after Agnetha's second motherhood, so She had not yet recovered Her pre-pregnancy figure (these is one of the songs that she recording pregnant)
I wish you a greatest weekend
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires, Argentina

I still remember this coming out when I was just a snot-nosed kid. A golden era for ABBA, and we lapped up every drop.
Relistening 45 years later, it's amazing how many balls they dropped and got away with it. Because the SOUND seemed so new and captivating. And when you're ambitious enough and spinning enough plates, I guess some will get broken.
The re-recordings for the movies address these shortcomings but fail to bottle the original magic.

Thanks wiki “Take a Chance on Me" released jan 78. proved to be one of ABBA's most successful chart hits, becoming the group's seventh UK #1 (and third consecutive chart-topper in the country after "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "The Name of the Game").[6] It was also ABBA's final #1 in the UK of the 1970s, and gives the group the distinction of being the act with the most chart-topping singles of the 1970s in the UK. It sold over 500,000 copies and was awarded a gold disc.[7] As of September 2021, it is the group's fourth-biggest song in the country with 950,000 chart sales (including 882,000 pure sales).[8]
In the United States it reached #3 and was certified gold for one million sales.[9] The song peaked at #3 in Canada and West Germany as well.

Brad and Lex: ABBA member Benny Anderson, in an interview said the lyrics “…take-a-chance…take-a-chance,” came from the sound he heard as he drove over a highway bridge and as the car’s tires travelled over each bridge segment joint and made a quick bumpity “take-a-chance” sound…and as he drove across another joint, “take-a-chance”…”take-a-chance”…”take-a-chance.” Much love to your program from Canada. -Diane, Vancouver, Canada. A legendary group with an incredibly loyal fan base. And their 'Voyage' avatar concerts are currently sending audiences wild in London with fans coming in from all parts of the world to experience it.
ABBA are one of those 'stars aligned' groups. They were each well known musicians in their native Sweden so they were akin to a 'supergroup' but they formed organically.
The best things often happen by accident and as a result of unlikely combinations. Each of the four had a different musical path. Benny had a love of traditional Swedish folk and Classical Music but had been in a Rock band. Bjorn too was a Folk based but his previous band had been borne out of the 'Skiffle' craze and was influenced by the harmonies of the 'Kingston Trio'. Agnetha was a teen star in Sweden with a mixture of Schlager and heartbreak ballads. Connie Francis is often cited as one of her influences. She was also writing her own material from a young age. Anni-Frid (Frida) had the most prior stage experience, joining her first band in 1958. She came from a Jazz, Swing and Big Band background plus had operatic training.
So it was a mixed bag of talents, style-wise. But the men turned into a formidable song-writing and producing team while the women were an intriguing blend of vocal compatibility and contrast, depending on the song.
It's something that can't really be manufactured as a Pop Svengali would never even think of pitching such a foursome together, regardless of their individual talent.
P.s. Although this song got to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, it actually sold more copies in the USA than 'Dancing Queen', a chart topper.
