The first song I learned was Freebird lol, then "as the palaces burn" by Lamb of God in drop d and never looked back lol.
dean has such a good vibe, same with you baena. keep riffing!
Same with you vapingcringe.
i find dean annoying and borderline insufferable tbh
Dean's energy away from his own channel is so fun to watch. He's so much more high-energy and all over the place hahaha I love it.
Can't wait to see y'all both crush it in Toronto!
he's pretty much the same on his channel... I think the main thing is he is with one of his friends vs his wife hah
dean is annoying as hell
Andrew is too self deprecating at times bro should be proud of himself he has gone along way to end up wheres he’s at now
True. I do find his humbleness very refreshing, though. Too many inflated egos around, especially on UA-cam.
I like that when Canadians start talking about smaller Canadian cities, the accent slowly ramps up.
Cool as hell to see someone shoutout Blotted Science, I fucking love that band but I rarely if ever hear anyone talk about them. There aren’t really any other bands that scratch the itch that they do. Also, I am rather excited to see you lads in Vancouver
The work from that band is phenomenal
New Archspire album is something I'm crazy stoked for . Just got into Carcosa and AngleMaker and been going through all the songs. So sick, love all 3 bands
I like your guys videos together. Long format podcast style is sick. There are like a few podcasts music/metal related that are ok but def. Not enough. 10/10.
Its Great to see Dean on the Channel with you, Andrew. Hope you guys make this a regular thing. Good stuffs...
Feel like I'm one of the boys, straight chilling listening to the convo. Exceppppt ya'll are fuckin gigachads at guitar and music in general and I'm over here doing mental gymnastics to play the most simple songs. LOL Anyways, enjoy the tour lads and good fortune to ya!
PS; the Doom shirt is rad lol and f uck you I replied to my own message just to say this.
Shoutout to ORIGIN, Suffocation, BRAIN DRILL,CRYPTOPSY, Hate Eternal! Technical death metal legends!
Real tech death!!!
Origin is properly listed first >:)
Man I love Dean..dude is such a nice and fun guy
@deanlamb stoked you’re coming to Saskatoon. We drove to Regina to see you guys last time you were through.
I‘d love to see some of these videos with Wes Hauch also!
Love seeing these vids with you guys :-)
First time i've ever heard anyone talk about , let alone play some Ron Jarzombek. Most underated musician ever !!
All that remains - Six is the song that made me want to learn guitar. Now after playing for 15 years and getting into technical death metal, It it still one of the first things I play when I pickup any guitar.
I was one of the 3 people in Saskatoon(Might have been closer to 10) but you played like there were thousands. Much respect.
18:51 YESSSS!!! BLOTTED FUCKING SCIENCE!!! Dean just did a whole ass level up in 2 words in my world! 😂😂😂
Yea I remember being really into that band for a while and no one around me could understand why.. SO DAMN GOOD. Now I gotta go listen..
As a Cannibal Corpse fan, I feel the urge to tell everyone that Alex Webster is the groove guy in that band. I am such a fan girl 😂
34:24 yo that’s kinda me too when it comes to shows. Like mainly I’ve been watching shows and most of em are from the early ‘00s. Ig I’m not too into movies now idk
Bro I had tickets to see Nile with Decapitated here in Western Australia a few months before Vitek died. My friend at the time who was also my ride to the show got forced to stay late at work and we missed Decapitated. Still gutted to this day.
Marilyn Manson is also how I learned how to play guitar, too! Rob Zombie, Bizkit, Static-X, SOAD, Coal Chamber..etc. this was awesome. Great video, Andrew.
Can't wait to see y'all live soon! 🤘
Love your guys' collab videos, and man Andrew has some killer guitars! Really hope I can make the Edmonton show! Only seen Archspire once in Vernon BC and it was awesome.
Funny hearing you talk about Logan Lake cause I used to live there, population is around 2000.
You guys make great videos together! we need more andrew and dean videos! you guys sound like two good friends just chatting away, no awkward-ness. Love these vids!
It is interesting to see Dean shares the same approach to technique learning. It is easy to think we have nothing to show for our skills when we have no full song covers recorded or learnt. If I look at how I play and all the skills I enjoy playing I can pick out the exact song or band that I listened to or tried to imitate at the time and I can feel better about how my playing has been forged
Will be great to see you all in Vancouver 🤟
Looking forward to catching the tour in Tampa!
Loved the video. Had to check that my video was playing at normal speed. It was. Dean was just talking so fast haha
Dean totally validated my current approach to learning/trying/practicing various guitar techniques: learning parts of songs to use as exercises, without really learning the whole song. I figured this was a lazy, non-productive way to improve, and since Dean did this, too, that totally validates that I'm right. 😂 Really, though, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Quote of the Day :
- Dean
"No one can master 6 strings, except for Guthrie Govan, that dude did, that's about it. Everyone else is still working on it"
I live in Saskatoon and I am so hyped for this show, going to be a good fucking time.
Jarzombek brothers are god-tier!
Yalls show will be my son’s first concert. See you in L. A.
4:58 please expand I would love to know more about this topic.
My first show last year we covered sweet dreams, went over pretty well and we needed easy to learn covers to fill out the setlist
I know it’s a silly request. I understand markets and tour schedules. BUT! Both Archspire AND Carcosa should come to Grand Junction Colorado! Mesa Theater is such a wonderful local venue and it’d be mind blowing to get both bands here. Love y’all! Thanks for doing what yall do. 🤙🏻🤘🏻🔥🖤🥰
Blotted Science when if ever can we get some more.
awesome video! this topic of title comes up all the time lolll
Right ear RIP! Awesome interview though ♥️
What Dan Flashes did Dean get his pants from? The pattern is SOOOOOOO complicated
Someone from a Old School Death Metal band here with Andrew is my DREAM 👌🏾
Hobbs from Suffocation would be a cool guest
I did like Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman riff on acoustic in like 91-92 and never touched a guitar again :D Started listening to Yngwie Malmsteen a few years prior though (and power metal like Sonata Arctica years earlier). Still love chunky guitars and mad solos.
I love the origin stories. This was a really entertaining video, dean is a top tier guitarist for me. Andrew ain't nothing to shake a stick at though. Good shit fellas.
aaaah my BC buckos o its cool to see the collab!
@deanlamb No way! Sweet dreams was one of my first guitar riffs as well. Really opened me up into metal music too
HOnestly, Australian bands feel the pain with touring, like you may get a gig or 2 in 1 of the major cities, but it takes days to drive to each one. if ur lucky u get somthing onthe way in a small town. but its tough out here for a pimp on the road.
Coors event centre is sick as hell and I will try my best to be there 🫡
Loving the collabs guys. Great content! Inspiring me to play more guitar, thanks!
Natural talent is so definitely a thing. Not only in music, but definitely also in music. People always seem to deny it’s existence, because they’ve worked thousands of hours to be where they are. Which is always the requirement to be as good as you can be at something. Most people will be a master at guitar with 10000+ hours of practice. But not all people will be Steve Vai, or Joe Satriani, or whichever one of the talented musicians that DID spend thousands of hours ON TOP OF their natural talent and ability. Even more people have that natural talent, but never get into guitar, they might find their talent also works for something else, or they’ll simply never find out they have it, or they miss the backbone to practice diligently. Fine. Talent isn’t everything, it’s a small factor that determines mostly the starting trajectory of your skill and in most cases also the final skill cap you can reach.
deans journey was so similar to mine actually started with opeth and dream theatre then necrophagist then a friend at work put me on to spawn of possession and it was over
Can't wait AAAA
Dean is my favorite person to listen to.
I knew dean was Canadian but didn’t know you were, hail thy cold but warm weather metal 🤘🙌
Do you have copuright issues? is that why Dean Lamb's audio is muted? 10:47
heck yeah lets get some ARCHCOSA GOING. i was lucky enough to see Necrophagist live in toronto back in the day. was my 3rd concert ever. blew my mind
Awesome vid!
Dean, you gotta do a cover video of Synaptic Plasticity if you haven't already
This! These are my ppls 🙌🏼💯🤣
I really enjoyed your conversation. I would have loved to sit down and chat
I saw atreyu before anyone knew who they were. They opened for rage against the machine in early 99. They were known as at the drive in at the time. It was a fantastic time. I think it was the battle of los angeles tour. I miss the good old days.
I started on a 7 string in Drop A, I’ve always stuck with 7 strings to the point that 6 string necks feel so small to me
John williams also "borrowed" a TON of his melodies from classical music. Listen to the 4th mvt of New World Symphony; John Williams took a lot of inspiration from it
Yo! That two note shit is hella true. Coal Chambers Row Boat is another banger example.
I love the videos
I know techincal deathmetal because of Jared I watched a playthrough video then stumbled onto dean and finally the rest of the band, only tech death band I’ve listened to. That’s my experience
What do you guys do for bass? If I was to play bass for a band that played 8 strings I would play a 4 string bass in C# standard
I'm suuuuch a limp bizkit fan man. The chocolate starfish and the hotdog flavored water is a banger, listened to it today lol
E tuned guitars always sounded off to me compared to the music I listen to and kept me from being more into playing. When I bought my own les paul I immediately restrung wirh beefy's and tuned to C and loved playing suddenly. I am now onto A🤘 and dont plan to ever stop playing now.
Only all remains was the first song I heard by necrophagist and I fucking loved it lol
I've always loved limp Bizkit with Wes on guitar but nobody ever brings up "the unquestionable truth" album.
It's in drop b and all but one song is heavy riffs. A whole album of groovy, aggressive, weird Wes letting his thrashy side show.
Super fun album to learn songs from. Its some of the heaviest, fastest stuff he's written.
Go listen to it.
i really wish i could go to the saskatoon show the venue is 19+ :( @DeanLamb plz come again in 2 years at least plz :)
Atlantic Canada needs some love
Middle school: Linkin Park Korn Mudvayne. High-school9-10: Slipknot(only Slipknot lol)
High-school 10-12: Cannibal corpse(only cannibal lol)
After high: As I lay dying and black dahlia murder and lamb of god. That's when my friend convinced me to get a guitar.
2009: Whitechapel live(decided to be a vocalist, got real good)
2009-present: constant failing bands because everyone was an alcoholic.
Present: since I kept up with guitar I've decided I'm gonna just do it all myself. Sweeping is fucking hard to learn. Tapping oddly is much easier. Wtf.
I need that pants!!! Where can I get them if you please)))
You blew my mind my first riff ever was sweet dreams by MM😮😮😮
Bleed the future is "Not really good" only won a Juno
That Dean Lamb guitar is hard as fuck. Paint splatter is the shit. 🔥
Beana already starting out in a lower tuning than E standard really explains a lot 😂
I can relate Dean. I had tickets to the Summer Slaughter '07 NYC but couldn't make it. Then unfortunately Decapitated had that accident. AND THE BLOTTED SCIENCE MENTION!!! #getoffmylawn
Anyone wanting to write groove based riffs or breakdowns should go to a steel mill or metal fabrication shop. Just listen to the pulse of the tools being used and record it and slow/speed it up and transcribe it to guitar.
The vocal annoyance thing was me with Tom Barber’s gurgle-style gutterals haha. I love them now of course, CG and Darko
That's so funny cause he's one of my favorite vocalists haha
@@HollowSentence22 he’s become mine, tied with Bozeman. Toms work in darko is shifting him to first though haha
@@sagewyer8882 I agree. I love how "muddy" his lows can sound if that even makes sense. David from signs of the swarm has that dirty muddy sounding lows as well which I love.
@@HollowSentence22 as much of an ass as he is, cj mcreery has the same dirt for his lows that I love as well
Where do we buy the pants @deanlamb?
Personally, I cant wait for the "Fhashasteriskexclamationatd" tour!
I wish you guys were playing in Halifax!
You must be new to the Maritime's, we don't count as "Canada" Lol
@@willisd8887 lmao I am not new and know. Archspire did play here one time though.
@@BrianBower Okay I must be new cause that's news to me, I swear I miss all the good shows wth
@@willisd8887 I missed it because it was a Monday and I had to work. 2019 had some killer shows. Black Crown Initiate with Inferi and Warforged at The Oasis. Not sure if you're interested but Sudden Waves is playing at Gus's Pub tomorrow night.
@@BrianBower I have seen that, I'll probably hit that up. Been ages since I've been to a show!
Yeh, Blotted Science was great 👍
Where did he get them pants man
As an American, I have no idea what goes on in Canada. The extent of my knowledge of the average Canadian experience is cold, snowing, Tim Horton's, moose, and maple syrup.
Kelowna date when?
My first experience with Meshuggah was the same!
Undisclosed City, Cananda sounds nice.
But I also live in a box...so...
Toronto? LFG
Wow Dean had the same death metal path I did 😮
This was very entertaining and interesting. I love tech death 🤣🙈 and deathcore apparently 😅
Is that a multiscale evertune?????
Where did Dean find those pants lol
Damn Dean is looking jacked af
you guys are skipping Spokane WA :(
Mortician did Double Drop E wayyy back when btw!
And at some point I wanted to be there chatting with you guys struggling with my English skills about the first riffs we played and whining about you being able to afford the guitars and equipments you want without having to sell a kidney.
