A great, encouraging coaching session Nic; you really built up Shamir's confidence throughout the session and it showed in Shamir's level of play. He's definitely back on the road to 4.5! 🔥🎾💪🏻
Shamir is such a good soul. He played amazing. Nic you're a great coach. Your positive reinforcement energy is heart-warming to watch. What a great feel-good video. Cheers! MM
Shamir is easily my favorite. Great insight on many things including technique and strategy. But let Shamir have the mic again. That was my favorite thing ever.
Nick and Shamir. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your coaching sessions. It's so helpful with your nice commentary, Nick. It's informative, yet relatable and fun to watch. It's not just hearing a ball bounce and feet shuffling. You're really adding value and helping all of us either improve or just enjoy the show. Thank you!
I love watching Shamir grow! Nick you’re a fantastic coach I’ve learned so much and grown just by watching you. Thanks so much for putting this out here for us to watch!
These videos are so fantastic 😍. I can't thank you enough for you to share your advice and agree with other comments completely that your relationship with your student plays a huge part in their development and Shamir obviously respects you because you are knowledgeable and direct but also encouraging and supportive. Thanks again!!
Shamir is on 🔥!! That hug at the end literally had me laughing out loud. Great video Nick, I'm really enjoying these point play videos now that I'm more confident with my technique and my consistency is improving. Critical thinking during match play is so important and liked how you challenged Shamir to analyze the point as well. Something I need to focus on more myself. Thanks coach!
This lesson illustrates a rare occurrence: the coach is requiring the student to carefully analyze why an error occurred. Too many coaches and students get comfortable for the coach to explain the error, leaving the student unpracticed at self-analyzing his or her errors during a match, when the coach is not available. I think the ability to carefully analyze one's errors is one of the most important skill for the tennis player.
Best I've seen Shamir play. You could tell he really fed off the positive reinforcement you were giving him and he kept riding it and played great. Great vid Nick!
from my last comment and now, what a huge progress from Shamir. His shot are well placed, smartly selected and varied. One this I noticed, lack of feet loading and lack of footwork. Keep up Shamir. Nick Thank you for making him progressing
top level shamir here! Fast guy may be able to scramble some of those shots but he would have most rec players on the backfoot with those serves and forehands
@@IntuitiveTennis NO WAY! I used to train at KL tennis academy in west palm beach w coach sophie! Maybe you know em? I'm hoping to train in florida this august... any chance I can contact you elsewhere?
love these videos they are so insightful and helpful. Never played on a hard court though. I wonder if the logic tennis-wise is the same as on the clay court? Shamir is great today. What a high level of game from a rec player. I must say I am jealous a bit😉
Nic toying with a 4 + 4.5 players like they where beginners shows how good he truly is 4.0 players are decent players and 4.5 are good solid players who can hit most shot and the way nic goes so easy says a lot.
After doing some research on rankings, and watching this video, I think I have an idea of what my level is. First of all, I gravely overestimated the rankings, thinking that only next year I would be able to reach 3.0, but man was I wrong. I am at a ranking of 5 for the first set, which drops to 4.5 as the first set comes to an end, but about halfway through the 2nd set there is no ranking that describes my pathetic game play, because I realize I have a low stamina and I am horrible at taking opportunities to rest, meaning my game degrades so fast as a result of fatigue and I'll be lucky if I keep the ball inside the fence (not the court, the fence). However I think that if I'm somehow able to pace myself, I could stay at a 4.5, and go 5 when I'm on the offensive. I'm sure that's not how the rankings work, that they don't change during a game, but I feel like this is the best way to describe my level of tennis, since my low stamina and rapid fatigue (and very rapid recovery) changes my level of game play throughout matches. At first I found it strange that my level is that high, but I understand, because I have been playing tennis ever since I was 5, and I'd play competitively for 2-3 years, and not play at all for around 2-4 years. I had no coaching, and I played an insane amount of time against the wall, but even so I was able to reach 5.5 - 6 during early high school. So I have the skills and experience, and I can still handle myself against players with a ranking of 5.5 and higher, but there are moments in time where all that experience comes into play all at once when I am able to correctly execute a strike, like recently my serves have grown incredibly powerful and accurate with almost no additional effort, almost immediately after I forced a new grip (Continental) on my serve. But now that I have resolved myself to becoming a tennis player that's on the level of that my father was (10 times club champion nationally and can easily be nr.1 ranked in a tennis club even if he played 15 years ago, so I'd say 6.0 - 6.5 maybe? Still haven't seen him give his all against me, but I'm able to make the old man run lol), I believe that I can reach that level, not at the age of 21 like my father, but like at the age of 24 - 26 (am I overestimating again?), and that's now even more possible because of Intuitive Tennis (I knew next to nothing about tennis compared to what I've learned on this channel), I've grown to this level in a relatively fast pace, and once I can certainly say I am at a ranking of 5 (and the stamina to keep that level), I'd finally be able to convince my parents to sponsor me to get coaching
Hey Nick! I'm a 16 year old junior player around a 4.5 level and am wondering what steps to take in order to go from a recreational level to a high competitive one
I reckon this is the best way Nik can give consistent training serves. He's obviously not giving it 100%, rather 50%. But you can't reduce the swing speed while keeping the same swing motion or it will give too many errors. So I guess Nik does some old school kind of serve, not too waiterish, not too slow, consistent and kind to Shamir's level.
Do you think I still have a chance to become a mid-high level player(8-11 utr)? I am currently a 5 utr at 16M (started playing seriously at 15) and and will probably play line 1 in singles in high school, my area is lucky to have some very solid players with a few high level d1 bound players. Do you think I have a chance?

It’s obvious that there’s a great coach-student relationship and Nic sees and is fostering the growth in Shamir. Well done both of you.

what yonex racket is he playing ?
I see Nik is bringing his right foot around on the serve. Isn't this over rotating on the serve like he mentioned a few videos back?
It’s too complex to explain here but it’s not over rotating and pros were forced to serve like back in the day.
I reckon this is the best way Nik can give consistent training serves. He's obviously not giving it 100%, rather 50%.
