  • Jason Ricci and The Lone Wolf Blues Company bring you the Jason Ricci Signature Harmonica Microphone.
    THE FOLLOWING IS JASON RICCI'S DESCRIPTION OF THE MICROPHONE:
    "When I came to Randy Landry and the team at Lone Wolf about designing a microphone, I really didn't want to redesign or customize an existing microphone as I had already done this in the past with the 57 and another great company. I never thought Lone Wolf would be able to do it or would ever take such a big risk! I wanted to build something unique to the modern day needs of the harmonica world, but having been involved in a few harmonica-related designs and fabrication business ventures, I knew the risks were substantial, and I could only hope for such cooperation and funding on a concept. I was blessed with the cooperation of an exceptional team under Randy Landry with Lone Wolf. For the last one and half years, Lone Wolf Blues Company has done a brilliant job at bringing the microphone I had envisioned into reality, looking, sounding, and feeling better than I could have ever imagined it. This wasn't easy, and we struggled, but we had fun and learned a lot by building a microphone both myself and everyone at Lone Wolf Blues Company is proud of. The microphone may literally have my signature on it, but a group of hard-working Americans from Louisiana have all put their marks on this exceptional mic."
    "To my ears "The Jason Ricci Signature Mic" by Lone Wolf Blues Company sounds much like a standard Shure 57 type unidirectional Instrument Mic with perhaps a slightly more pronounced bottom end. When held/cupped tightly, I hear the microphone compress more than a 57 can, and thus it’s capable of a bit more distortion or break up. Cupping the microphone less tightly produces a nearly identical tone to that of a 57 or the Unidyne III "Butterfield" Mic with a brilliant, natural, and unaffected virtual acoustic harmonica sound. The ergonomics of the Jason Ricci Signature Mic and its overall shape were carefully designed, tested, and then scrapped a few times by all of us before resulting in the finished product we bring you now. The Jason Ricci Signature Mic, I feel, is the perfect compromise between the "Bullet" versus the "Stick Mic" debate where ergonomics are concerned. The volume control knob is perfectly situated to give the player, who holds the mic conventionally, easy access to volume changes without ever having to uncup by using the back pinky finger. Here is a microphone that is super comfortable; designed for harmonica players; looks good with high-quality, hand-fabricated parts and custom powder coating, sparkles, UV printing, and more. It feels good; it sounds great. It is simply the best microphone I have ever played with harmonica, and I couldn't have done any of it without the help of Randy Landry, Nathan Heck, and the whole team at Lone Wolf Blues Company!"

    Hi Jason, Thank you for the subliminal plug in your video I really do love this mic. I've used a variety of vocal mics for Harmonica over the past 50 years. I've been using a Shure 545S mic with a volume control mod for 16 years. I've always preferred a tone that was more articulate to one that's an overdrive sound that's too cluttered. I play a variety of music styles so I like a mic that's more versatile and can be used in multiple situations. The one drawback to the SM 57"s and the 545's is the noise that happens when your handling them when they're turned up and from your breathing especially in the recording studio. A quiet mic that responds to your playing Harmonica is just what I've been looking for. This mic grill is not much wider and it weighs about the same as the 545S I've been using. I like the shape of the top of the flare on the grill because you can actually put the harmonica at the optimum position in front of the element. I should be able to adapt to it easily. Thanks for the work you and the crew at Lone Wolf have done to make this a Great Harmonica Microphone.

    I got one about months ago. Prior to that I was using a Bottle O Blues. This blows that out of the water. Much more volume and tone. More dollars too but it's worth it.

    That mic sounds & looks great. I too had a much loved crystal jt-30 - and the crystal slowly died. Spent years trying to get a sound as good, and ended up at a Shure 57 sound. As I get better at it I actually want to hear what I am doing! If I live to be two hundred & ten I'll be nearly as good as you. Keep at it, love your playing.

    I just ordered one. This is great. I use a Green Bullet. The volume knob it what I needed on it most and the 57 falls out on my hands and is annoying because it wasn't made for this use.

    Hi Jason,
    Thank you for the great description of the new microphone.
    But I would still like to try it before buying.
    Is there a store in the Czech Republic where this would be possible?
    Thank you very much.

    • @jasonricci

      Unfortunately not there are however dozens of videos. Additionally you could try a 57 for an extremely similar sound then imagine if it was much easier to hold and came with a volume control.

      The 1/4 is the same mic in every way just an easier jack for most people.

    • @timr5917
      @timr5917 2 роки тому +1

      @@jasonricci I hope he will start making the xlr one again in the future. I have a xlr samsung wireless set up so the 1/4" would require me to buy an adapter from Blows Me Away (more length and weight). I ordered a Audix fireball V for now. It sounds pretty good although its nowhere as cool looking as your mike and it does not have that cool flared end to facilitate easy holding like your mike.

    Hi! Would you mind give me the difference between your mic and an SM57. I'm curious how it is different as a clean sound.

    • @jasonricci
      @jasonricci  3 роки тому +1

      Its almost identical. It would be difficult for anyone to pass a blind test. This mic has perhaps a hair more bass to it. The main difference is its designed to be much easier to hold and has no handling noise unlike the 57 which I battled for years.

    JASON RICCI, does this lonewolf microphone fix the impedance issues with using any guitar amplifier because mostly its a mismatch issue causing frequency masking problems. I'm trying to get that midrange honky harp tone by using any cheap microphone like a shure 57 or shure 58 with any guitar amplifier but not sure which harp guitar pedal can fix this problem.

    • @jasonricci
      @jasonricci  Рік тому

      Yes. It is currently ONLY offered in HI Z so simply use a standard 1/4" guitar cable. ❤️

  • @skrilla88
    @skrilla88 6 років тому +1

    This is perfect timing! I've been looking at buying my first mic, either a Bulletini or an Ultimate SM57. I have question regarding how it connects. What kind of cables would I need for either impedance?

    • @jasonricci
      @jasonricci  6 років тому +3

      Either! You can order a Hi-z model and use a 1/4 to 1/4 guitar cable or you can use an xlr and a hi to low impedance transformer.

    The nice thing about the sm57 is that is it can also be used on a mic stand. I’ve heard you cannot with this one from a representative on FB. I wonder why it’s discouraged with this one..

    • @BrianBrazilHarmonica
      @BrianBrazilHarmonica 6 років тому +1
