Just so you guys are aware. After claiming the mantis ship and Armour. You can get special encounters as THEE mantis. Spacers and pirates will fear you. @Camelworks the reason why you got killed by the turrets was because of your companion. Given this is from the same engine, companions trigger traps too.
Thank you!! I played through this last night and wanted to experience it again. I appreciate you doing a walkthrough AND letting the audio logs play out
I actually managed to find the Secret Outpost! slate on some Spacers in an abandoned mining outpost on Kreet, so it looks like you can get the quest log without travelling to the Sol system.
Went to pick up Barrett from being kidnapped and some broken down freighter radios me and asks me to make a quick delivery to Cydonia and I made a quick few thousand credits. Then I went to a nearby structure and some miners were getting attacked by Ecliptic mercs and some got captured so they asked me to rescue them and I do and fly them to a safe settlement. Amazing random encounters.
Earth's moon, which in Stanfield, its called, Luna. I would to just throw out there really quick, that our (Earth) moon's internationally recognized name, is in fact, Luna. This is where you get the phrase, Lunar Cycle. Much like our sun's name, is, in fact, Sol. Solar Calander. Anywho, sorry to ramble, there. I actually just finished this station as an explorer.
This is true. Given most of my audience (like 98%) are western, I felt this clarification was needed. As I’ve never ever heard anyone refer to the moon as Luna, but rather refer to the moon and the moon. If I said go to Luna, most people be like 🤷♂️ what’s Luna
@Camelworks I admit I've used their names before and got confused looks from folk. I can't tell if using The sun, or The moon, is supposed to be a commanding title socially, or an insult to them. Like, the sun and moon are integral to life on Earth, or, "the sun is too hot this summer, cool down".
I think there is an outfit that goes along with the spacesuit, also in the room with all the loot; I think a lot of people maybe miss it, because almost no one talks about it…
My favorite piece of dialog so far is during the Crimson Fleet questline. One of the pirates randomly says as you're walking by: "I hear the Mantis is back. When I find 'em... I'm gonna kill 'em." This was said as I was walking back to my Razerleaf... while wearing the Mantis armor. I just stared at the guy like "Wanna say that again, buddy?"
Hahahaaha! I think Bethesda missed an opportunity to have the Mantis ID linked to the suit, either instead of or in additon to, the ship. Just so you could hear that line AS the Mantis, return to that NPC, and 'Talk' and exactly address that line. Me thinks feature request? I'm told post-game allows a total rerack of everything you've done excluding skills and character level, so I'd have to re-find and re-claim the ship should I elect to go another round (and any subsequent rounds). If Bethesda gets and implements that feature request, then at some point you'd be able to have that encounter
@@morgfarm1Yeah, NG+ is basically a total reset of everything except skills (including magazine skills... I THINK), so you'd have to redo all the quests to get all the quest-related loot, like the armor and ships. Though there are some new lines that reference that you've done it all before, so that's neat... even if you didn't do that quest the first time. lol
In terms of the puzzle room with the letters, I just shot each of the turrets, whilst taking cover (and dying a few times), but got through and was surprised by the reward this side quest gave me. Very happy. Great walkthrough… you got yourselves a new sub.
Thanks for this!! I was struggling with the Frontier lol and i totally missed this at the start of the game so i just went back and got the mission, much appreciated!!
You can also use the Amp chem to run super fast and just sprint across the puzzle and deactivate the turrets that way. (Maybe this was said in the video, I don't remember, as I got distracted for a second.)
Also, not sure if I missed it in the video, but there is a high level bounty hunter spacesuit near the control room that is excellent to give to a companion to wear. Not a piece of loot to miss. Thanks for sharing this quest, it's so worth doing at a lower level. I did it at level 8 or 9, and if I can get through it, anyone can.
@@Dacubemastr I played on normal...used lots of grenades and mines as needed. Switched to the more powerful weapons I was finding on my way through the lab.
The guy who tries to betray you in there actually died for me in that room. I turned the corner yeeted a grenade and it set off some explosives in the room killing almsot everyone in it. Had no clue there was a conversation with the guy!
I ended up resetting for HOURS, but ended up with -15% damage from all enemy types. +60 carry weight, some resistances and stagger + burn. Totally worth it. Plus, that dome chest ended up giving me an AMAZING legendary shotgun, so needless to say this was a huge upgrade for me. (Level 17 on very hard)
Nice Video. I'm about to play that story, and role play as the Mantis for a while. Search out Pirates, and Spacers. This will be fun. Thanks again for the video.
Funny thing is that I remember seeing the armor on a thumbnail for a video on how to get powerful items in-game and asking myself, “I wonder how to get that?“ Fast forward to me finishing this side quest and behold, the armor! Feels good to be playing a game on my own for the first time… Except for XP farms :P
I love Bethesda games but I don’t play on pc jus PS5 n I’m not buying a Xbox jus for that. So your videos are gonna be how I get to experience them from here on out you are appreciated
Make sure you replace the liquid metal every 5 years and keep it horizontal to stop it from pooling on one side of the chip. I have watched a few PS5 repair videos. I actually took apart, cleaned, and replaced the thermal paste of my PS3.
Okay point of correction right from the beginning. If people follow the main quest right away then the place shown in the video to get the data slate will probably be where you get it, however, you do not HAVE to get it there. I got it off of random ass spacers on a random procedurally generated POI on some shithole moon. I'm pretty sure this thing can be dropped by ANY random spacers.
There's actually an option during the quest in neon when you join the gang to say that you are secretly The Mantis, idk if it's an option if you haven't done the mantis quest but it'd be very funny if it isn't
The Golden Spacesuit guy is not guaranteed to spawn in that space station. He didn't show up for me after multiple loads, and none of the spacers in there dropped any kind of note. EDIT: found it during a generic spacer killing mission a couple of hours later.
Update! I found the Golden Spacesuit and Secret Hideout notes during the first mission to join the Freestar Rangers - one I could pick from the mission board involved spacers, so I went for it.
Brooooooooooo this is why i need to watch these vodoes first. I had jo odea you could re roll the attributes on the armor. I just acouped everything and dipped out. God damnit im gonna bebkicking my self for this
Is the Mantis set leveled loot? For example in Skyrim Chillrend's damage was based on your level when you picked it up. Is the Mantis suit the same but with armour defense?
I didn't even think of re loading for legendary efforts, i spent days doing it in fallout 4 to get the perfect weapons and it comes flew over my head lol
I just activated the turrets on the password part and took them out while shooting them through the caging. Ran back to where the entry to this area is and peaked enough to take them out one at a time, right to left. Only one turret can hit you doing this. Figured I might as well get the xp.
From what I saw technically the place you go to squire is leveled so don't go in low leveled. I did see a guide on UA-cam showing how to get 2 awesome guns & going after it at low level.
Also, you missed two really good space suits, the bounty hunter armor and one other (that I forgot the name of but it's in the Mantis' bathroom). Both have a weight of 20, but offer decent protection.
I've been to the space station twice, at levels 7 and 8, and the golden suited corpse still hasn't spawned for me. I'll keep trying. Pretty good loot in the place otherwise.
@@Wickedmicro- Yes. The third time was the charm. Lots of great loot. Particularly, the space ship and Mantis suit. I kept those for many levels. The only problem with the space ship is that a lot of the raiders run from it rather than stay and fight.
I’m curious…you should be able to use the storage boxes and weapon displays as storage. It shouldn’t count as ship storage, similarly to dropping items on the ship floor. Now, idk about the stuff being there, using a different ship and then going back to the razorleaf
I watched like 3 other videos and they were like you just have to fly around and eventually you’ll run into spacers lol thank you for showing a 100% way to find them!!
I’ve never been to that moon base. I don’t know where I got my slate from? I’ve only been following the main storyline I have it already …I haven’t even done the first constellation mission yet.
I think the spacer with the slate shows up at an increased rate on the staryard (take the spacers on the station off the census) as sometimes I've walked away with 6 slates
Cannot be found without the quest. Regardless of what people say. You have to have the quest or the location won’t be there. My friend searched for hours because the body despawned on his playthrough. Upon 3 hours of searching it could not be found without the quest. I did find however; You can keep killing spacers and eventually the secret outpost note will drop on them. And it doesn’t have to be a specific galaxy. You can loot it from a dead spacer in any galaxy.
My next playthrough I am going to make a smugger named Leon, and deliberately ignore the Spacer messages, until NG+. Then I will run the Mantis quest, as Leon. Yeah, total roleplay build.
I didn't do the puzzle. I just straight up shot the turrets out. And i never saw or spoke with a dude. Weird. Cool mission though. Probably my favorite so far.
I didn't really pay attention to the computer that suggested not changing the hull and now don't think I can revert back without going back to an old save and having to re do a ton of missions.
What do you mean by “as long as you don’t change the hull”? I’m curious how much you can modify/upgrade the ship while still being considered the Mantis.
Reportedly, it doesn't matter how extensively or how many times the player changes the Razorleaf: as long as it *was* originally the Razorleaf, it will still be recognized as the ship of The Mantis. (This includes massive upgrades to the entire ship layout, the weapons loadout, the paint job & even the ship's name, supposedly!)
What a cop out... random effects? Bah... Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but it feels like a missed opportunity to not cater to certain playstyles. Truly make the armor worthy the legend
Just don't store your guns in the gun racks on board thr Razorleaf. There's a bug in the game were any weapons stored in the gun racks on the Razorleaf will disappear. I lost a couple of Legendary rifles because of that bug. Had to revert to a previous saved game and redo the quest.
Yes, this appears to also apply to any display rack or weapons crate whenever the player makes any upgrade or refit of their vessel in the Ship Builder mode (no matter how small the change) !
I finally figured out about the puzzle. the trick is not run while walking between tile. I suggest to use keyboard instead, just make sure to use the Cap Lock to make you not running. Then the turrets won't shoot at you as long as you are stepping on the right tile spells "Tyrannis". It took me so long to figure that out because I mainly use my console and controller. I have to use my Desktop to do it right. OMG if someone told me earlier.
Finally Got my Razorleaf, if someone told me what are the right gears to use. It would be a less an hour mission. I actually spent most of the time try and fail the puzzle because I was on console and I am not good at walking with the controller. Anyway, I even get into Mantis mission at level 7. Even after I got Razorleaf, I just past Level 8. It is not that hard but you have to use the right gears. You will need Heller's Cutter at "Back to Vectera" Mission, Heller's Cutter has +20% robot damage than regular cutter but the downside is its short range. Therefore you will need to get "Elegance" pistol at Akila City in Cheyenne System at Rowland Arms which just pass the bank. Get at least 100 rounds of .43 UL Tramag. In order to get more ammo, you can travel back to Jemison and go to the Residential Distract and go to Centaurian Arsenal. Go buy another pack. Then go outside sit on a bench and wait 24 local hours. It will fast forward and afterwards, go back in there and buy another pack. Repeat this until you have enough .43 UL. This trick will work on all ammo types. Oh, you still need a shotgun for 1 turret after the puzzle so bring it with you. As long as you don't run at the word puzzle, you should be fine. By the way, for low level player trying this mission, you do need to jump serval times to get to the base. the mid-point I found is Cheyenne and Olympus system. If I remember correctly, I can jump to Denebola from Olympus using Frontier. Good luck guys
Update: don't put anything on the weapon racks on Razorleaf, they will disappear forever as soon as you go to another system. Or exit the game. There is a bug and they still haven't fixed it yet.
Tried to use this walkthrough and the spacer with the note never spawned for me. Guess I'll have to wait for my second playthrough to get the mantis armor and the razorleaf.
I need help. Ive got the mantis mission but i cant seem to jump to denebola 1b. Im in the frontier with my fuel capacity maxxed at 70. Ive tried every possible way to jump there but always get errors. Undiscovered territory or not enough fuel for distance. I spent hrs trying to get there and cant. How did you get there with the frontier with 70 fuel capacity? Im level 5 in game and only been playing for a few days. Ive subbed to your channel. Great video. If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it. Thks.
How’d you get all those cool cinematic shots of rooms and spacers? Is it just a free-cam mod on PC, or a console command or smtn? (Definitely not possible on console, right?)
You can shoot the ceiling turrets from the doorway with any automatic weapon to destroy them just have some med packs ready. You can get two turrets down fast before you have to jump away then heal and get the last two. I gave Andreja frag grenades for the robots after and she did more damage to me than they did :( Crappy ship btw even though it's free.

I think there is an outfit that goes along with the spacesuit, also in the room with all the loot; I think a lot of people maybe miss it, because almost no one talks about it…
Where?
Yeah bro seen it. It's a priest outfit and when you couple it with the spacesuit you become the Praying Mantis 😂

I was also level 17 when I did the Mantis quest instead of going to Nova Galactic first.
Cracking set of armour and ship.
I love Camelworks videos. So relaxing yet interesting.
One of the better guide/walkthroughs ive ever watched. Great job!
You can also use the Amp chem to run super fast and just sprint across the puzzle and deactivate the turrets that way.
(Maybe this was said in the video, I don't remember, as I got distracted for a second.)
Excellent walkthrough! Love the way you role play it as well. :)
PS. love the way Sarah walks through the shot while listening to the SSNN feed. :D
Yes, it's definitely an amazing piece of spacesuit, helped me get through and serves as a tremendous suit for my annoying companion to wear!
Bro how. I’m lvl 9 and can’t get past the robots💀

Bro i literally just walked into that space station and paused right before i went to work. I guess i know what im grabbing when i get off work
Bro... Perfect Walkthrough...Thank you 🫡
The guy who tries to betray you in there actually died for me in that room. I turned the corner yeeted a grenade and it set off some explosives in the room killing almsot everyone in it. Had no clue there was a conversation with the guy!
I completed this at level 7. Turrets were the hardest part. Probably took 10 attempts. Good quest great gear. Really great video!
Love this video man. You really broke the story down and explained everything well. 👏
Tip: Have your follower wait for you until you finish the trap. They usually set it off by mistake.
I love how the helmet looks like Mata Nui from Bionicle!
FANTASTIC video, well detailed from beginning to end of quest, thanks so much! 🚀👍🏽
I actually had a dialogue option that was “don’t tell anyone but i’m actually the mantis” during a quest 😂
I didn't know about reloading the rolls on the armor. I got a God roll first try
Thank you for this video. It was fun and very entertaining!!! 🙂
I was doing a freestar aliance mission and got it off a spacer.
I got it from a satellite.
If golden space dude doesn't show up is my game messed or something.
I'm having the exact same issue.. cleared it 3 times and no golden jumpsuit guy.
Killed them all and looted everything but couldn't find that log.
Same
Me too, how do we find the slate
Update! I found the Golden Spacesuit and Secret Hideout notes during the first mission to join the Freestar Rangers - one I could pick from the mission board involved spacers, so I went for it.
Can you go to that secret base withot mission ? Cuz we know where it is.. (yeah, i didnt found golden guy on station XD)
i saw the screenshot and immediately though "Mask of Life??"
Always entertaining informative. 😂
Fantastic video man....thanks so much
Brooooooooooo this is why i need to watch these vodoes first. I had jo odea you could re roll the attributes on the armor. I just acouped everything and dipped out. God damnit im gonna bebkicking my self for this
Just earned my sub! Great video man
Is the Mantis set leveled loot? For example in Skyrim Chillrend's damage was based on your level when you picked it up. Is the Mantis suit the same but with armour defense?
Good question
I didn't even think of re loading for legendary efforts, i spent days doing it in fallout 4 to get the perfect weapons and it comes flew over my head lol
I just activated the turrets on the password part and took them out while shooting them through the caging. Ran back to where the entry to this area is and peaked enough to take them out one at a time, right to left. Only one turret can hit you doing this. Figured I might as well get the xp.
Should you hold off on getting the armor until a certain level?
Is the armor leveled? Or is is always the same?
From what I saw technically the place you go to squire is leveled so don't go in low leveled. I did see a guide on UA-cam showing how to get 2 awesome guns & going after it at low level.
Also, you missed two really good space suits, the bounty hunter armor and one other (that I forgot the name of but it's in the Mantis' bathroom). Both have a weight of 20, but offer decent protection.
How can you start the quest if you’ve already cleared the station? I tried going back but all of the bodies were gone.
I've been to the space station twice, at levels 7 and 8, and the golden suited corpse still hasn't spawned for me. I'll keep trying. Pretty good loot in the place otherwise.
Yeah not here for me either but did you end up getting it?
@@Wickedmicro- Yes. The third time was the charm. Lots of great loot. Particularly, the space ship and Mantis suit. I kept those for many levels. The only problem with the space ship is that a lot of the raiders run from it rather than stay and fight.
I’m curious…you should be able to use the storage boxes and weapon displays as storage. It shouldn’t count as ship storage, similarly to dropping items on the ship floor. Now, idk about the stuff being there, using a different ship and then going back to the razorleaf
Digging the Zyllog! Looking like an overkill Iron Man!
Build guide on the Zyllog please
The razor leaf is nice but do crit land more easily?
I understood that reference!
I started following a different video that had a different path of missions to get that mantis mission O.o this is blowing my mind a bit ngl
There is no golden space suit guy in the medical ward in my game. Is there a minimum level needed or something or is it random luck ?
Hate to question but when you say keep the hull of the razor leaf are you referring to the cocktail pit area? Thanks in advance.
Everybody says the Mantis armor is the best in the game but i want a set of that Plot armor those invincible NPCs are wearing 😂
Gold spacer isn’t there after completing the quest and returning to the outpost. Help?
The assisted carry enchant on the pack is so fckn good before i got personal atmosphere dawg
I got the slate while exploring kreet very interesting and cool upw theres so many ways to start this mission :)
Don't know why, but the Mantis armor and ship is giving me Jango Fett vibes.
The spacer isnt in the nova galactic staryard, what should i do to help get him to show
I think the spacer with the slate shows up at an increased rate on the staryard (take the spacers on the station off the census) as sometimes I've walked away with 6 slates
Do not put anything in the weapon racks! A major bug still exists from Fallout 4 that will delete the items!
Cannot be found without the quest. Regardless of what people say. You have to have the quest or the location won’t be there. My friend searched for hours because the body despawned on his playthrough. Upon 3 hours of searching it could not be found without the quest. I did find however;
You can keep killing spacers and eventually the secret outpost note will drop on them. And it doesn’t have to be a specific galaxy. You can loot it from a dead spacer in any galaxy.
I wonder how much more unique armors there are in the game
The Ecstatic Merc armor is pretty good. If you are lucky they might have a legendary boost pack.
My next playthrough I am going to make a smugger named Leon, and deliberately ignore the Spacer messages, until NG+. Then I will run the Mantis quest, as Leon.
Yeah, total roleplay build.
I just love your channel, all your guides are simple and idk your voice just sexy
Shoot that red generator near the stairs, and it will destroy the lasers overtop. Done & done.😎👍🏿
I didn't do the puzzle. I just straight up shot the turrets out.
And i never saw or spoke with a dude.
Weird.
Cool mission though. Probably my favorite so far.
Are you going to be doing unique weapons guide?
I didn't really pay attention to the computer that suggested not changing the hull and now don't think I can revert back without going back to an old save and having to re do a ton of missions.
Do you get to keep the lair? It would make an awesome player home
That's what I said, but no it appears not.
Can't believe I missed this video
You can actually pick this quest up from any spacer, but you might have to be about level 8 + to actually obtain it.
No you dont at all i just completed the mantis quest as level 5 😂
So i just started playing, completed the the lodge quest. How do you hail the station? I showed up there used the scanner and I can’t even get on it!
I searched the entire star yard, that guy's body never spawned. I can't wait for modders to get their hands on this game.

How’d you get all those cool cinematic shots of rooms and spacers? Is it just a free-cam mod on PC, or a console command or smtn? (Definitely not possible on console, right?)
It is actually possible on console
@@vexile1239 how?

what level do you need to be for this quest just started the game
You can shoot the ceiling turrets from the doorway with any automatic weapon to destroy them just have some med packs ready. You can get two turrets down fast before you have to jump away then heal and get the last two. I gave Andreja frag grenades for the robots after and she did more damage to me than they did :( Crappy ship btw even though it's free.
