Hi dear, lemon slices really should be keep in the oven for 4-5 hours by 70 degree? In my opinion it seems to long time kk :) But i don't know nothing i just wanna try make it :)
Hey.. which better use parchment paper or just tray?
I prefer lining my trays with parchment paper. This prevents super thin slices from sticking to the pan or any reactions between the acid in the fruit and the metal trays.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
+FriedasProduce Ah, thank you! And thank you for those lovely lemons!
Is it for eating?
Sorry, I'm from Brazil and I never saw anyone eating it.
If yes, how?
Is there a video sample?
Thank you!
These are just dehydrated lemons. They are edible and can be added to hot water, hot tea, soups, etc.
Yes, not directly for eating, but people have been using them for 1000's of years( they used to dry them in the sun), for cooking, for using them in tea, or drinks, and baking too..and more, these are well used specially in middle east.
I'll use them for cocktails for instance
I have a question, mine turned dark with time. Are these unusable? Does the change in color change the flavor?
Yes, they turn a little dark over time. Mine still had a lot of lemony flavor despite this.
can you do the same with oranges
purple coffee yes absolutely! You can do this with any citrus: lemons, lines, oranges, blood oranges and grapefruits. Just note that the drying time will be longer with the bigger fruits.

Hi!! I tried to do it but after a month they looked kind of soft. They don't look dry anymore. Do you have any idea if I should do it again an leave it more time on the dehydrator or they're fine?
Are you sure you dried them completely the first time? And do you live in a humid area? If you are not going to eat them and they have no mold, you should be fine drying them out again. I live in Southern California and our dried lemons stay dried. But they do darken in color after several months.
Hi can we use microwave?
Unfortunately, no. You want to dry out the lemons and not cook them.
What is the oven temperature? And how long they have to stay
170 C for 4-5 hours
@@merryaz8770 won't they will burn ??? I have otg is it possible in that ??
It says to put on a baking sheet but your video shows you only placing On the oven metal tray. Am I missing something?
Actually it’s best to put on parchment paper lined baking sheet. You can also use a metal cooling rack but lemon slices reacted to one of my racks so now I always cover with parchment paper first.
@@familyspice Thank you fo your reply! i tried with the parchment paper! they really pretty!
Can i make this in oven toaster as well
Yes I have baked small batches in the toaster oven, too.
@@familyspice aww thank you now i can make my own dried lemon 🥰
Mine got burnt in the oven toaster. Why?
@@chancw9686 if they were cut very thin, they will dry out faster and burn more easily. I also find that they dry out faster in the toaster oven than in a big oven.
can I not use the baking sheet?
And use what instead?!
Do these turn brown in the oven or stay yellow?
They darken a little after drying out. Over time, after many months, they do turn brown.
@@familyspice Thank you.
This really helped! I have a small question, is it alright to use an oven toaster instead? And is it okay to use a tray?
I have dried lemons in my toaster oven, yes. Just cover your tray with some parchment paper. I find that sometimes the acid in the citrus reacts to the metals in trays.
@@familyspice Ohh okay thanks a lot ✨
Do they still strongly smell like citrus? I'm trying to keep my cat out of the Christmas tree, she hates citrus smell >:D
It is not heavily fragrant but it does have some scent. Love the idea of it repelling the cat from the Christmas tree! You could also spray some lemon essential oil on the tree. Good luck!
@@familyspice ok. So the lemon slices by themselves did not work but I sprayed some lemon juice around the tree and it worked great! Thanks for the idea! Great video
@@madtoxic4782 That's awesome! I wonder if other cats don't like lemon juice, too. You might be on to something!

Amazing Life stop
will they attract fruit flies or go bad if i hang them from my ceiling as decoration?
If you have them out like pot pourri, you should be fine as long as they are completely dry. I live in San Diego and it is a dry climate, so the flies don't care about a bowl of these. I have not tried hanging them up. But after several months the fruit slices will darken and lose their potency - or go bad. Hope that helps!
@@familyspice hey won't it will burn if we keep for 4-5 hours actually I have otg is it possible to make these in that??
@@poojapoojaprasad95 You are not cooking these at high temperature, but drying them out for a few hours at a low temperature. They will not burn. I don't know what an 'otg' is.
@@familyspice oven toaster grill (otg) in this also we have to fall the same rules right
@@poojapoojaprasad95 Yes, I have dried lemons in my toaster oven. Again, low heat to dry out the fruit and not cook it or burn it.
is it edible?
Jadorecooking yes, they are technically edible just dehydrated. But I don't eat them straight up. You can use them to flavor foods.
familyspice I have made these and I put them over homemade vanilla ice cream and it was amazing
Dorrie that's wonderful to hear! I never would have thought to use them in ice cream!
familyspice you should try it
Can put on cupcake or cake as decoration.?
Sorry for not writing sooner. I didn't get a notification about your comment. Yes they make beautiful decorations for cakes and cupcakes!
No added sugar? Finally! Thank you.
Yup! If you dried lemon slices with sugar, that would be candied lemon.
How people dry up Thier lemon wheels when you don't have oven??
you can sun dry it
Can we eat it ??
Yes, they are edible. Usually, dried lemons are placed in soups or teas. Dried oranges can be eaten as is.
Can direct eat?
Yes, the dried lemon is edible, but you may not like the taste or texture of the dried lemon. You can candy the dried lemon by coating it with granulated sugar BEFORE drying in the oven.
Can we use the sun?
You can sun dry fruits and vegetables, but you will have to deal with critters and bugs.
I can’t even properly read the instructions. 🙄🙄
