    Awesome set up man. When I started truck camping back in the 80's we didn't have a whole lot to go on. I like the load lock bars, Pure Genius. I like to keep my box bed as a standalone, separate power from the cab. Screens you can get at a hardware store in a whole roll. Cut to size. Spray insect repellent on the screen, openings as an added deterrent from bugs. Use wasp & hornet spray around your tires to keep unwanted pest from crawling up into your rig. You're GONNA have a lot of fun with this. Drive safe. 🤠

    I'm adding a 40A DC-DC charger to my Sierra 1500 so that I can charge the 200ah LIP battery while I'm driving. Of course, I did have to upgrade my alternator.

    Nice setup, I have a similar setup and enjoy off grid camping out here in SD. You'll want some screen held up by magnets to ward off bugs

      Yup, def need a screen and it has to be easily removable because the gas shocks come back inside when closed. The window frame is aluminum so I can’t use magnets directly to it, but I’m thinking I can glue metal/magnets to the frame to attach the screen to.

    Nice set up! I’m waiting on my Leer 100R to come in any day now. Hopefully they don’t forget the vents on my windoors! I’m 6’5” and was wondering how I’ll fit. Now I have an idea- thanks. I’m planning on using my beanbag for a chair.. comfortable, great lumbar support and you can sit pretty low.

      If you get the interior lights, and want to be able to turn them on while the hatch is shut, let me know and I can show you where to put a bypass switch. Also, if you get the sliding front window and it rattles open on gravel roads, the dealer can adjust it. Lastly, check the lift shocks as soon as you get it. I got mine from the leer factory and they had to immediately replace a shock before they drove it out.

      @@bigweswv I’d love to hear how you wired up the lights to turn on with the latch closed. Thanks for the info- I’ll def check the lift shocks right away. I ordered the front window that can be removed for cleaning. Hopefully it won’t rattle.

      I have a bubble level I use on the bed to figure out when it’s level but also discovered my truck has an inclinometer built in with its off-road package which makes it real easy to level

    I'm a little (a lot) shorter than you so my 6-foot bed works fine but I opted for a high camper. The headroom is good to have.
    What I love about truck camping is the versatility. I've been to parks that have length restrictions because of the winding roads, but with a truck its not a concern. Plus I've had to go stealth a few times when I was on the road but not near a park, so I stayed in the city.
    Be safe out there.

      I thought about a mid rise cap but it wouldn’t fit in my garage so I went standard. With that little turkey hunting chair I can sit up no problem.
      I like truck camping when I’m pulling my boat.

    Nice. Do your pop out/up side windows keep rain out when they are open?

    • @bigweswv
      @bigweswv  9 місяців тому

      A little with a light rain. Eventually it will start to drip in at the top corners. Still let’s less in than my previous top w sliding windows when they were open.
