I just love how so many people, who never heard of this song or the Yakuza franchise before the meme, have unknowingly clicked on this video and discovered the best version by accident, as it features the best singer in the franchise (Shun Akiyama). FYI, folks: the version that became famous is the one that was sung by Kazuma Kiryu (one of the main characters of the Yakuza games). This version features Shun Akiyama, another main character who gets introduced in Yakuza 4. Akiyama is the guy at 03:07, while Kiryu is the guy you've probably already seen (white/grey suit). Oh, and you might wonder why such a song is in a video game about Yakuza. Well, those games have Karaoke mini-games, which have many gems like this song (and there are plenty of other mini-games too...). Also, those games aren't only "serious" crime dramas. Oh boy, if only you people knew. Yakuza games are literal troll/shitpost games that dial up the comedy REALLY fast when outside the main story. They make you cry rivers or almost choke from laughter. Such is the duality of the Yakuza games.

I don't know shit about singing, but hey that's what the 2 singers made me think of the song.
Which is what you sort of expect from Kiryu. He'll never be honest, truly honest, with another human being with his feelings. Which is why we're not getting the full brunt of his emotions like we do with Akiyama, he's shielding himself, but also shielding others in order to keep them away from the terrible sadness he often carries with him. I've been listening to this song since 2015 and somehow never ran upon this video. This video is a rude-awakening. The lyrics hit way too close to home, but somehow item makes me love it, and Akiyama's character even more. We can't all be winners in the sick game of love.
I'm totally addicted to this version. I've had it on repeat all week. I'd seek help but it scratches such an itchhh. It starts as a smooth lament and then goes off the rails.
Yeah. I have never play yakuza 0 or anything in that franchise but after reading the lyrics i think it's about a yakuza gang member who have a wife but he'd abuse her and then after the divorce he started to appreciate her as he drinks his alcohol.
Akiyama's voice is WOW o_O The way he's sung this really reminds me of how he is when it comes to love. He's smooth but a bit fragile. He falls *deep* and gets hurt just as deeply. And you can see it not in the lyrics but in his voice. Yamadera's amazing.

This song is actually really good
Kiryu and Shun's versions are equally amazing and for completely different moods
Tbh I like this version because the key the song is in not only hammers in that 80/90s nostalgia, but it sounds more lighter and almost heartwarming. Yeah they’re the same song but different keys, but that’s makes a big difference in the tone of a song
Shun Akiyama's version is more modern like he's actually on stage performing on a show that is a singing competition like he was singing it if it was his last.
See you space cowboy.
Žymantas Venislovas this shit made me shed a tear

I just watching last episode now 😭
I'm SO GLAD Akiyama and Saejima got more karaoke in Yakuza 5. Akiyama's voice is BEAUTIFUL.
You watch Kiryu’s for the meme. You watch Akiyama’s to be inspired.
And now Akiyama's is also a meme... a chess meme
Honestly, they're both fucking good at this song, they just have their own tone at singing it
Honestly I listen to both because both kill it with their melodramatic vocals.
@@angelusvastator1297 Kiryu's more straight and to the point, while Akiyama's more melodramatic. Both are awesome in singing this song and it shows their different character traits.
Then Saejima's and Namba's are off crying in the corner together
This is BY FAR the best version I've heard. So, so good.
👍🏻👍🏻 fr
Counter Sphere agreed!
The amount of emotion poured into this is second to none, truly a master piece. My man lost everything, pulled himself up and got to the top, struggled some more, and still has the drive to work towards pushung people into doing something charitable.
What's you're favorite Baka Mitai???
Personally mine is this one.

Kiryu's.
To be honest this one is so emotional than kiryu version
This one too.
I can't enjoyed Kiryu's version after what memers done to the song.

This song has one of the saddest, most bittersweet feelings to it that ive ever heard. It's like a heartfelt goodbye to a dear friend you've known your whole life, and all you can do is cry as they walk away.
Sounds like an OST for an 80's Yakuza movie.

Just think about the meme and you wont cry
