Unfortunately, I’m having a hard time finishing the video. The waver in her voice is so realistic that it sounds like she’s forcing herself to speak even though she’s about to cry, and although I’m not a crier, that wavering tone of voice is my only consistent weakness. I also feel very stupid for almost letting a robot bring me to tears, but that’s a whole other thing
The image makes it even worse, it's the realization that she cannot ever get to grow up with everyone who were watching her and listening to her when they were her age and younger. And now she's just nostalgia fodder, but even that she's not sure about how long would last.
Pretty sure she'll have a comeback in the far, far future where androids have become a real thing. Likely as a relic of the past if nothing else. Just hope that nobody decides to show her the doujins.
Thank you! And yes, that is the original title. But due to the popularity of the meme "dame da ne" (which goes with the format I used to format the title of the video) I thought I would go with that.
@@asterisque_vocaloid if you haven't yet, you should consider putting "bakamitai" in the tags or description anyway because I think lots of people are also familiar with the actual song title ^^ Great cover, btw 🖤
Although I believe you should always put the actual song title somewhere, UA-cam basically considers "Baka mitai" and "Dame da ne" as interchangeable search terms
my favourite line is 1:48 "baka mitai, hontou baka ne" "really, this is just stupid" a kinda moment of sitting down and wondering how the fuck did I here from where I started
The dame da ne part reminds me of like how a slice of life anime ends with the sun setting and the main character going home while saying good bye to their friends
Y'know, considering that Miku is a an Artificial Voice Bank, I love looking at this video from the angle of Miku being an AI that gained sentience and fell in love with a human, but they never saw her as anything more than a simple machine and so she became resentful, both of them and especially of herself for believing she was ever anything more than what Humanity saw her as or that she could find love as an AI.
I never actually knew what the lyrics meant and it just hit differently once I started reading them in English. I'm not heartbroken but I just felt as if I just had lost the love of my life.
@@Rurike The official as in the singable lyrics? Those are not literal, they're made to fit the song. They take liberties to make it 1) fit the syllables 2) sound good 3) rhyme And then, translating more faithfully, there are different ways to translate. You can translate "dame da ne" as "It's no use", but "it's hopeless" is more natural. Japanese is vastly different from English and there is no single "correct" translation. A lot of fan translations are too literal, and need someone to render the words in a way that is more natural sounding to an English speaker.
@bluesailormercury i use "official" here just to refer to what the games ended up translating it to. I realize theres quite a few different ways it could be translated which is why i mention its probably not "wrong". Perhaps "weird" wasnt a good word to use, i just found it interesting it read pretty far off from the lyrics im used to, in the sense the subject and direct meanings changed a fair bit.
@@bluesailormercuryThe reason this translation is "weird" is that it twists the subject of the actual song. While these lyrics are about struggling with oneself, the original song is about being hurt by another.
This is the most professional Miku related piece ever. She sounds more real and matches the soulful tune of the song like the original. We need more Miku like this.
Miku sounds like she was trying so hard to be human, to be real, but deep down she knows that she is merely an AI that will live eternally through the lines of code being processed in the computers of millions. She wants to feel emotions like a real human, but she knows that she will never have a soul, a brain or a real body. Miku knows she will never be a real girl, but she will never be able to accept that. Jeez that got deep...
Her voice is so emotional… like you can hear her voice shake like she’s so sad she’s about to cry… this is really beautiful. I adore this. You did an amazing job
Aight. Being the third wheel and therapist of so many relationships, this songs is basically my gimmick to my friends at this point. anyway THE COVER STILL SLAPS GODDAMN
I'm so glad to see that other people like this song unironically. I love this song probably more than I should and it's definitely one of the best parts of Yakuza 0 in my opinion. Also I love how Miku's voice sounds like it gets more shaky in the chorus. It really feels like she's letting out years of pain and that's dope.
*It’s MY mental breakdown, I get to choose the music-* Edit: I’m gonna cry from these replies 😭🤚🏼 Edit 2: guys it’s okay I’m doin great! I hope guys are too😭
In this song I hear a 30 year old Miku after she’s been done with music for a while but she’s coming back to sing one last song and is on the verge of tears reliving what she used to do in her teenage years
I didn't even know that the original song was memed. I thought this cover was just a fan making a really beautiful song. This song sounds like one of those oldies songs that sound really sad and beautiful. It's hard to put my finger on some of the songs because I don't remember the name but this beat sounds really familiar
this having so many likes makes me so sad 😭 ur listening to the wrong mikus, try listening to some stuff with her dark append if you don't like the high pitched anime voice
it still is pretty robotic, but i think for the v4x version a lot more parameters and settings were adding to make it less miku like and more expressive.
I ended a 10 year relationship last year and i just found out about this cover last week. I now unironically drink and cry to this. Quite possibly my new favorite miku cover? Second to TM Network's Still Love Her. This is honestly the best i've heard miku sing. It's a pipe dream but I wish I can hear her sing Still Love Her in this manner. Thank you so much this is so well done! Looking forward to more of your stuff ☺️

@francisco petit I mean, I'm probably always going to prefer listening to people who know how to use V4 well compared to people who know how to use V5 well, but like what's the difference between listening to a good V5 song and a good V2 or V3 song? This sounds like a tired and washed up Miku, having watched the last of her popularity slip away with the passage of time, now lamenting and reminiscing about the past and all the friends who she left. As the second verse opens, it shows various scenes of the other original Volcaloids. Kaito, standing behind the counter of a coffee shop, staring at Miku's number on his phonen thumb over the call button, but eventually turning it iff with a heavy sigh. The twins on the roof of an apartment, staring up at the stars. Meiko on a highway overlook by a cliff, quietly smoking, staring into the distance. One after the other, they look up, alerted to something, and following something like instinct. The last verse shows Miku quietly sobbing over her drink, as the originals quietly file in. They stand in silence, tears slowly filling their eyes, before Rin rushes up and hugs Miku from behind, the others soon following suit, startling Miku, but who soon relaxes, crying and smiling as she accepts the group hug and the music fades out.
Extended cut ending: once the music fades out, so too, do the OG's and Miku finds that she is alone again. There is nothing now but her tearful reflection from the half empty drink glass and memories of the time you can never have again.
I literally got chills. This song is a banger and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. This is some of the best vocaloid tuning I've ever heard, I'm so impressed. This is amazing in every way.

😢
loser
Let her do it. It doesn't matter that we're real and she's not, at one point she was a person. Cry harder brother.
Hold fast to your humanity, my friend. Every last shred of it is more precious than gold.

This is pretty much the plot to Detroit: Become Human.
She should've fell in love with a weeb
One more song to the list of Vocaloid songs where Miku is having an existential crisis for being a computer program
@@lebouf1781 she has standards lmao

I never actually knew what the lyrics meant and it just hit differently once I started reading them in English.
I'm not heartbroken but I just felt as if I just had lost the love of my life.
This seems like a bit of a weird translation compared to the official ones, though not wrong per say
@@Rurike The official as in the singable lyrics? Those are not literal, they're made to fit the song. They take liberties to make it 1) fit the syllables 2) sound good 3) rhyme
And then, translating more faithfully, there are different ways to translate.
@@Rurike hmm also they use bare instead of bear which I don't think? is the literal translation anyway.

I don't like high pitched voices in general regardless of the character
Woah, Vocaloid changed Miku’s voice a lot. I remember when it sounded more robotic.
it still is pretty robotic, but i think for the v4x version a lot more parameters and settings were adding to make it less miku like and more expressive.
depends on the tuner and their skill level. Mitchie M's Miku is really good and probably one of the best sounding Miku's out there.
it's still (and will be) robotic, but the software already has enough effects and the people are talented enough to make miku sound like that.
it's called amazing tuning /pos
