I used Vista as my daily driver from 2008 to late 2014. I kept my software and drivers up to date and it was a very stable OS for me. I also liked the version of Windows Movie Maker as it was the last version to include a traditional timeline instead of just the storyboard interface.
I have fond memories of using the Vista version of Movie Maker on an old channel! I also remember hating both Vista and 7 back when I was 8 years old in 2009 because I saw them as the enemies that were stealing XP's market share 😂
Thanks for watching! I'll be making more content like this in the near future with better equipment so be sure to subscribe if you'd like to see more 😁
Windows Vista is not really that terrible considering Windows 8 later on the line.
SP1 and SP2 fixed most RTM problems, which works fine like Windows 7.
I think XP is the best version of windows,
I grew up with 7, but Vista SP2 to me is better than 7.
Im happy to see someone else with my same interests on the internet!
I'm happy to hear that someone else had a positive experience with Vista as well! While I have definitely used Windows 7 for a lot longer, mainly due to it being supported for three more years after Vista EOL and 7 getting better software support even nowadays. However, I found my experience with Vista SP2 to be very solid! It's too bad that most software dropped support for Vista at the same time as XP even though Vista is much closer to 7 than XP.
And yes, I agree that Windows XP was the overall best version, especially for my computing needs :D
@@DCGRetrowave Vista SP1/SP2 is perfect. But it is just as good as Windows 7.
Very entertaining, definitely subscribed
I'm glad you enjoyed this! I have more videos coming this week featuring retro gaming on the Xbox and then I plan on making more retro computer content. Thanks for subscribing 😃👍
I installed Windows Vista 32-bit on my white iMac from 2007. I mostly use it to play games that no longer work on modern Windows 10/11 computers. I have Windows DreamScene working as well. It works great!
the image quality in vista looks so good. there must be something related to Aero and the filters it applies. i may be wrong and must be subjective, i don't know.
I used vista from 2008-2013 and I loved it! It worked fine on my laptop. I'm even nostalgic for it ❤
I'm very nostalgic for it too despite not getting to use it much until 2014 :D
I think the reason people didn't like Vista was because they didn't get it and their hardware was shit. I see Vista in its early days as a visually appealing version of Windows, but sacrificing function in some ways. My cousin got Vista when it first came out on brand new high end hardware and she never had any issues with it and overall liked it.
My dad's Vista PC was from 2009 and had pretty solid specs even by the time Windows 8 launched. I didn't get to experience Vista on it until 2014 when he got a new PC because he upgraded it to 7 almost immediately :D
This update is huge
I used windows vista when I was young I can’t remember the exactly year but it’s between 2012 and 2014 and I like it I was little for me if I was with my folder full of random web pics and my chrome where I can play Club Penguin to me was good recently I installed it on an old notebook and bro Vista is so beautiful I already thought that but it just make me more certainly about it
Edit: I can’t believe you are doing Portuguese lessons I’m from Brazil
Yeah, Windows Vista's aesthetic is so pleasing :D
As for the Portuguese lessons, I'm actually doing them due to a large portion of my fanbase being from Brazil! :D
one of the many reasons why I definitively abandoned windows.. I haven't seen anything more beautiful than Vista and XP, unique and original in their kind (at the time). Now they copy Mac and Linux systems in an embarrassing way..
9:21 the camera is dancing
5:40 Just for the future, there's a way around the "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported" problem. If you open a command prompt as administrator (right-click and open as admin), and run the installer from the command prompt itself, it works just fine. I had to do that for my own 2009 iMac, my now broken 2009 MacBooks, and my current 2009 MacBook Pro. There's also a newer Boot Camp download that you can get that just works without the workaround as well, but I don't remember where to get it since I keep a copy on my toolkit hard drive.
Good to know! I had a feeling that a workaround existed, but I couldn't find any info at the time. I know that at the very least, I could manually install the drivers, but I had issues with a few things on my Mac Mini when I did that back in 2018 (the internal speaker didn't work and the audio jacks were reversed).
F for Windows XP, we barely knew you.
Don't worry! I'll be bringing it back once my next album has been made on Windows Vista 🤓
Uncalled for, bro.
Best thing for a Mac 😜.
Yes 🤓🤓🤓
I'd totally use Windows Vista if it could run all the apps Windows 7 has. It's sad Microsoft pretty much abandoned Vista afterwards and gave it the Windows ME treatment.
The same thing happened with Windows 8. Once app developers dropped support for 7, they almost always dropped 8 simultaneously. ME, Vista, and 8 were all dependent on their predecessor being supported to remain relevant.
Microsoft is crap.
@@DCGRetrowave Poor Microsoft Corporation, felt so bad for them. Sad.
The Interessting thing would be. is it Possible to get dx12 because win7 become parts of dx12 later. And also win vista is near win7. your gpu has 11.1 but the Tier must be very low. Imagine this kind of boost
i wish Vista gets more love
Same here! That's why I wanted to feature it on the channel and install it on my music workstation. Now I can say that my next album will be made entirely on Vista 🤓
cooliee!!!!
It was misunderstood as Linus said.
Personally I don't get why someone could hate an OS that looked like...THAT. I always hated XP tbh, even when it was the latest OS back in 05. Shit looks ugly 🤮
@@mustasheolll2020 I'm actually surprised by how many people don't like the look of Windows XP. I always thought that it looked really nice, but I can understand that people felt like it was less professional than 2000/Me. Vista is very aesthetically pleasing though, even moreso than Windows 7 in my opinion.
And yeah, Linus' video was honestly one of the best takes I've seen on Vista :D
Did you ever finish that Opus No. 1 midi at 9:46 ? The small preview sounded great.
I've been meaning to work on it again for over a year. Perhaps I will soon! When I initially started making that MIDI, I had to hear the song at least once a day. The call center changed their music shortly after that so it's not often I hear it anymore which probably explains why I've been forgetting to finish the MIDI 😅
17:10 How Did You Installed WiFi Driver For Vista?
The driver was already included in the Bootcamp 3.0 driver installer
Amazing....
Vista was ok as long as you had good hardware for it. Most manufacturers put Vista on underpowered crap like Celerons with 1gb of ram and call them Vista capable. The online activation for Vista will only work if you have a fully updated one,and XP can activate online again if you install legacy update and tick the box to help you activate it online
That makes sense regarding the activation! It seemed weird that Vista couldn't connect, but I did know about the XP legacy thing :D
I remember the "Vista Capable" scam. To be fair, 1GB could work for a 32-Bit install, but it's still not ideal when Vista uses more than half of that when idle 😅
My first laptop had vista installed. I remember my computer running slow, it was an Acer Aspire 4520 with an AMD Turion processor and 2gb of ram. So nothing special about the hardware. I installed Vista on my 2009 MacBook Pro and it runs fine. The point is Vista was meant to run on better hardware that people were running it on when it was released in 2007.
My first experience with Vista was on a 2009 HP Pavilion Elite m9715f (surprised I still remember the model number 😂). That thing had a quad core AMD Phenom and 8GB of RAM so performance was never an issue and it was perfectly stable due to improved driver support by that point in time. Vista was such a huge leap forward since there was a five-year gap between releases and during that time, computers were advancing rapidly (from 256mb of RAM being standard to 2GB).
@@DCGRetrowave I wish I was into computers back when Vista was new, like I am now. Bored at home during the pandemic I pulled My Acer aspire 5733z laptop from my closet. It was sitting for years because it got dropped and would not boot. I found out it was just the hard drive this whole time. I'm actually still using it for school work. It is amazing at how long computers can be used now days.
Oh, thank you Mr. Algorithm ❤ Subscribed 👍
I appreciate it! I'm really trying my hardest to get the algorithm to notice this channel 😅 I've already invested in a new camera and a capture card 😃
Great video! But no tripod? The video shakes a lot.
I decided to go handheld for most shots as I wanted to focus the camera on what I was actually doing on-screen. Unfortunately, the image stabilization on my old camera wasn't great 😅
My new camera (Sony ZV-1) holds up a lot better along with my S24 Ultra so newer videos will look a lot better 😄

How did you get the installation media for Vista?
I ordered it on eBay 😃
13:24 How solitaire on Vista work? Impossibruh, It should caused a BSOD instead.
"Windows Vista: Can't even run Solitaire" - 🤓
I should've intentionally crashed it for the lolz 🤣
Bro, I have Dell inspiron 3502 laptop bought on 2021. It is fully equipped with SSD and NVMe and USB 3.0 and it was shipped with Windows 10 version 2004. Now, I want to install Windows vista on this system. Is it really possible safely to do it in the first place? And if so how? I am asking this question because Windows vista and Windows 7 did not have support for NVMe and SSD and USB 3.0 native drivers. That is why my PC is not recognizing the Bootable Windows vista device.
Your computer is way too new for anything older than Windows 10. I'd recommend picking up a cheap Windows Vista or 7 laptop (shouldn't cost much nowadays, or get an old MacBook and install it on there). Even if you managed to get a legacy version of Windows to boot, it would not be usable in a normal sense due to multiple missing drivers (no sound, internet, or graphics acceleration).
Get Windows Vista skins for Windows 10 instead
7 was the best and out performed xp in my opinion took the xp reputations spotlight :)
after you install windows vista can you install windows 7?
That computer is dead now 💀
Should I use XP or Vista or for retro gaming? I’m using a top spec 2009 MacBook Pro and it’s currently running XP but I can’t decide if I should stick to XP or go vista
Unless you're going to be running games from the early 2010's, you might as well stick with XP. Windows XP is lighter on system resources which should allow for better performance in games, provided that they support XP and work with DX9 or older. If you want to play a game that requires either DX10 or DX11, you will need Vista. What graphics card, CPU, and amount of RAM does this MacBook Pro have?
