my 2021 hatch saved my life today. was looking over my shoulder to change lanes and the vehicle in front slammed their brakes. collision mitigation took over and stopped perfect. had it not had the safety tech i would have wrecked or worse. For a cheap little hatch. its value is priceless.
I was turning right at the top of a hill one day and someone ran across the street at the top where I couldn’t see them, but my Corolla did. It beeped and hit the brakes for me. My car saved an idiot’s life!
I was driving in downtown and the car in front of me stopped and I did not see it cuz his brake lights were not working and I wasn't paying enough attention. The car engaged the brakes and stopped safely.
I bought the XE in the Nightshade Edition about 3 weeks ago. Fantastic little car! Fun to drive as I have a 35 mile commute from home each way. Very responsive in traffic. I’m 6ft and it’s comfortable. Fun car. You won’t be disappointed.
I just drove the XSE today and I love it. I'm retired, it's just my wife and I, it's fun and perfect for us. It handles great, plenty of power, great gas mileage. I don't see why people think this should be a race car. I can't get one till the end of the year though ☹️
@Richard Favreau I'm flattered (not really) by your stalking me across various UA-cam comment sections but the truth of the matter is I'm not into old white dudes, or dudes in general......not that there's anything wrong with it.
@Richard Favreau Technically, the grammatically correct term is you "couldn"t care less" about reading my comments. Ironic, considering that you're driven to respond to my posts.
I love my new 2021 corolla se 6 speed manual, been driving a stick for 45 years and it definitely has the power and handling. Awesome wind chill pearl with black tones it's a keeper
I'd like to see a Toyota/Honda collaboration for a vehicle similar to the Element, with a price range starting in the $20K range. There's a lot of us out there that would love to see a two-seater with a boxy rear end to camp in. Love utilitarian vehicles. Remember way back when the Corolla was once a station wagon? Why not offer a SUV version of the Corolla with a slighter bigger engine and a few more HPs? That would totally up Toyota's game again.
I’ve never had any issue with the car holding revs in the manual mode. Not sure what’s going on with your review model, but just wanted to make it known that I’ve used the 2019 and 2022 model extensively with the manual shifting mode and it has held gears very well.
Aside from this... what other hatchbacks do you suggest? I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix and I am looking to get another hatch as similar to it as possible. One thing I have to watch his the height of the seats.. It can't be any higher then the Matrix as my son couldn't get into it (special needs). Thank you!
Never really enjoyed the review. The camera was kept to your face, the other things you were showing us like the arm rest, door pocket wasn't displayed except the dashboard
I went with the 2020 SE 6-MT Corolla Sedan instead of the XSE hatch (even though I prefer hatches) because I couldn't get past the fish-face front styling, the overdone contortions of the hatch & the tacky, fake, dual "exhaust ports". Not a fan of the weird/stupid headlight shape either, but it works better with the SE/XSE sedan front fascia at least. The SE/XSE sedan body shape also has a better-looking, more aggressive/muscular road stance (IMO).
Of course Toyota will only comes third in vehicles popularity in India, where the number one ride and transportation are cows and horses dragging a wooden wheel carts lol 😂
@@capngeo2002 Excuse me Sir , please don't insult my ancestors very efficient way of travel, it is all working just fine to this day. By the way, My personal favourite is sitting on train rooftop, fantastic views and free air condition.

So glad you're safe! Thank you for letting us know that the CM really works as advertised. I'm so sorry you had to experience it in the way you did.
That’s awesome. Do you know if it also has rear emergency braking?

Im 5 9 and the interior was too small. Don’t be mislead by this comment. Not a good ride either

Possibly the coolest Corolla color combo I've seen yet.

fold down the seats and show what room is available. that's a main reason for buying a hatch to begin with.
UNreal. I cannot believe these dolts overlooked putting the back seats down.
I like the price of that thing. Looks cool too...
TOYOTA please update this hatch with the hybrid like the sedan ASAP!
I think is done, the 2022 hybrid hatchback will be ready in October, so talk with your dealer for more information 👍
Lol why ? So you can get slightly better gas mileage and have to replace a very expensive battery around 100k miles
It's an enhanced two speed auto. My first car was a 57' Chevy with a 265 V/8 and a two speed auto.
Awesome review. Thank you for the GR info. I'm a diehard manual guy.

One other question! The radio... do you find it distracting???
CVT just kills. At least they still offer a manual.
If it was comparable to Golf R i would seriously think about it; Its a good looking car.
Mate, if the turds at Toyota Australia gave us the option of a manual, I'd bloody buy one.
This is a lot of car for the price... Actually looking at grabbing one as the FIRST new car I've ever purchased!!!
Love it. Loved it so much I got the red and black roof LOL. FYI the red is supersonic red. Barcelona red is the red that comes on the sedans.
I’m buying the same in hybrid tomorrow
if the corolla had a duel clutch, I'd buy one straight away, however I have been procrastinating for the last 2 months on other brands as well
dual clutch ? why ?

does it comes with Intelligent Park Assist in US?
Did he says “Lexus “@ 1.43 ?
You should make the music louder.
160hp? mine has 185 (including the electric engine)
Is it as reliable as a civic? I just want a car to last.
no hybrid?
Come to Australia. We have the ZR Hybrid. Fantastic little car!
Not on the hatch in the US
In Europe yes
Hondas turbo is only like5-7 more.hp
Stop talking about the looks - talk about the damn car!

Well everyone can't afford a cart being pulled by grandma the reincarnated sacred cow or a rickshaw.
