- After the EWI drained all the battery and recharging I got a strange error code that was not explained in the manual also not on the internet. So I tried everything...
Don't know if it is called a r) or t) error or maybe r reversed C error?
Sometimes I call it a 5000s it is off course a 5000. I removed the letters from the side some time ago and I am already mixing up the name with the 4000s. Sorry - Наука та технологія

The 4000 is available only second hand.
What You learned is don't let the battery Go Dead, And i learned that i am glad i didn't buy this piece of crap but instead bought the Yamaha YDS-150 thanks to this video. Thank you for saving me from such an awful mistake!
I also bought an EWI 5000 a few years ago ... played fine for 9months and then all those errors and Where was Akai ?? what a disappointing company !! Getting an EWI 5000 repaired in Australia is IMPOSSIBLE .. nobody is interested .. I took it (physically) to the appoited repairer in the UK who changed the battery charged me $200 and told me it was fine .. I got anothjer couple of hours out of it and then .. more errors. My conclusion is that parts of this instrument are brilliant... but they are entirely let down by Crappy power management, a non standard battery ( ie not an 18650) and poorly conceived user interface. As Peter in this video has highlighted, a $1 switch would have helped the battery drain problem , and .. maybe the spiral of error message frustrations

Thank you for your efforts re the battery. I had the same problem after returning from a month-long trip to find that my EWI wouldn't charge and I thought at first it was broken. BooHoo. after watching yours and several other people's videos who had the same problem I decided to try to shock the battery back to life with my Sony backup battery that I use with my iPhone. I plugged it in (the backup battery) after having fully charged it and when I switched it on the EWI started changing immediately. It is now functioning as before. Thank you for your efforts that saved me a trip to the repair shop for something I could easily fix myself.

I bought a new in a box « non-functioning » 5000, (for a ridiculous price!)with exact same error message. I fixed it doing:
1- firmware update to v.1545
2- removing the sd card and check content on my computer
3- unplug battery, factory reset with 4 buttons + plug back battery
4- firmware upgrade to v.1546
5- Using EWI 5000 software editor, changed from controller mode to synth mode.
Controller mode was working with the editor before step #2, but impossible to go to synth mode.

Akai EWI5000 with Error for sale 400€
I have just bought a faulty EWI5000. It had a bad battery, but the seller provided several partially working and, from them, I have built a working one. But the unit does not boot nor respond to RESET properly. From time to time, by disconnecting battery and USB and reconnecting battery, I can get it to kind of boot, but freezes or just does not work. So I have got the SD card out and, while trying to copy it, some files, as SYNTHS.DLS, BRASS.DLS, SECTION.DLS and others seem corrupted and throw an error. I get a blink "Ld" on display some times when trying to boot, so it should be failure to load the needed files. I wonder if someone can share with me the content of the SD (sharing them perhaps on DRIVE or a similar service), so I can rebuild a good one for my ailing EWI5000. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. This is really a junk! I just bought one. It doesn't play any sound. It only plays a sound though headphone. I talked to a AKAI ewi5000 online, named Jesus. He couldn't tell me what the problem is and how to fix the problem, but could only register a service ticket, and follow up soon. It has been more than a day. No email from him as he said. Very frustrated!!! Very disappointed!
The EWI5000 doesn't have external speakers...I really hope you're plugging into an amplifier.

PS .. It seems you cannot actually contact Akai for service.. they are a kind of R&D ghost company with "distributors"

How u charge the ewi 5000
It has an old school printer usb port at the bottom
The first error code I received is LD
I believe LD means software load
LD flashes every time I turn on the device successfully
LD turns into the error code that you show in your video when it cannot load the software. On my device it was due to the SD card not being seated properly
I would suggest very careful cleaning of contacts on SD card or SD card slot
