Not gonna lie I was a bit concerned when you said you were updating the website that you were going to make it like most modern text websites, not based on text anymore and being ridiculously heavy pages for what they are, glad to see that you have kept it simple and lightweight. There are way too many websites that are impossible to feasibly access on older hardware for no reason at all. Congratulations on 500 videos, here's to 500 more.

I felt the same, but I think Chris was a smart enough to keep it simple, and yes these so called modern design pages focus on the look but not on the content besides they take ages to load on slow connection.
I actually hate "web 2.0" (script and tracker invasion) to this day i use uMatrix in the browser so everything needs to be whitelisted to be allowed. I don't trust web pages by default, they send too much garbage.

You are a credit to the hobbyist computing community and the fight to get youngsters across the Western World to start taking computer science seriously, especially at degree level, is a good one. I believe, for example, there are something like a million vacancies to be filled in cybersecurity across the globe at the moment. Salam.

Don't get me wrong I have Indian friends and co-workers. Although sometimes the calls go to the Philippines lately. And it is funny how many of them have common Canadian English names! ;-) Never would have guessed those "English" names would be popular in those countries that speak a different language. 8-)

Happy 500! Good to see the ducks. I guess we have to be satisfied with icons of Stanley and Mr. Scissors. Perhaps they will appear in person in video 1000. I have been pondering what sort of video you can do featuring the Pi-5. (And yes, I think about the channel fairly often.) It occurs to me that the Pi-5's two camera inputs can be used to make a 3D digitizer. These are extremely popular with people who own 3D printers, but they are more than a little pricey. In addition to using the two cameras, you could control a servo to turn a turntable in precise increments. The model you wanted to digitize would go on the turntable, and the Pi would take a series of pictures. The pictures could then be assembled into a 3D model in Blender or some other appropriate software. You could even get ChatGPT to write the code needed to drive the servo and the cameras.
It is with both honour and happiness that I celebrate this 500th video. Explaining Computer remains - as far as I'm concerned - the most relevant channel when it comes to the essential digital literacy we all need. Thank you for all the work you've done over the last few years.

@@ExplainingComputers I think I know what you mean - but more with audio (podcasts) I've done or co-hosted on well over a thousand plus episodes - usually with longer running lengths of 1 to 2 hours each - although admittedly much, much easier to to produce and edit than your well crafted 'technical/educational videos -so again Bravo! :-)
The drawback with appearing in front of the camera is that you see yourself getting older and older! You look quite a young chap in those early episodes! Thanks for uploading
The fact that a risk V computer is coming so close to achieving feature parody with an arm computer is amazing. Here's to hoping that someday we'll get to enjoy both open source software and hardware down to the architecture level

Probably the only channel I look at to get general comparisons of SBC. I've been looking at getting a RISC-V board in the future so the videos here give a good real-world demonstration.

Huge congrats to 500 videos! Thank you for so much great content over the years. It's a good day when you sit down on Sunday with a drink to watch. Two top marks for me are the videos on Libreoffice Base and Blender. The best introductions to these programs bar none. The channel is an underrated gem on UA-cam. On the subject, RISC-V sure has come far in a short time. It reminds me of running some desktop programs on the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ plucky 700mhz single core. It sure wasn't fast but back then but still, impressive for what it was.
I bought my first pre-built pc in 2017. After watching the Ryzen build 2 months ago I decided to upgrade my old motherboard and Intel 7th gen CPU with a new Gigabyte Motherboard and Ryzen 5600G as Chris has done. I'm happy to report I messed up installing the fan but it works just fine(i guess). What I'm saying is thank you and Congrats Chris for your guide and helping us do better with technology we take for granted these days.

Huge congrats to 500 videos! Thank you for so much great content over the years. It's a good day when you sit down on Sunday with a drink to watch. Two top marks for me are the videos on Libreoffice Base and Blender. The best introductions to these programs bar none. The channel is an underrated gem on UA-cam.
On the subject, RISC-V sure has come far in a short time. It reminds me of running some desktop programs on the Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ plucky 700mhz single core. It sure wasn't fast but back then but still, impressive for what it was.
I bought my first pre-built pc in 2017. After watching the Ryzen build 2 months ago I decided to upgrade my old motherboard and Intel 7th gen CPU with a new Gigabyte Motherboard and Ryzen 5600G as Chris has done. I'm happy to report I messed up installing the fan but it works just fine(i guess). What I'm saying is thank you and Congrats Chris for your guide and helping us do better with technology we take for granted these days.

I first started watching this channel in 2018 when I first got my Raspberry Pi (3B+) and needed some tips and pointers on using it for assignments.
