Lachlan just gave a seminar yesterday here in Maryland. There were 70-90 students. He was like "Wow, I have never given a seminar to this many people". Someone yelled from the back: "You better get used to it". LOL
I love how laid back and humble most popular BJJ athletes are. There are a couple with attitude but I really hope it's just a front they are putting on.
Bernardo and Lochlan seem like supercool guys. It shows that you can be nice and humble and people will still want to watch you compete and book seminars.
Not only is he talented with innovative techniques for a smaller guy to beat a bigger guy (the essence of BJJ) but he comes off as real likeable/humble guy. I'm a big fan, plus his performance in the 2019 ADCC helps.
Bernardo thanks for all the amazing content. I've been doing BJJ for over 16 years and have never purchased any instructional videos until recently. Now I have 5 of John Danaher's videos, absolutely the best instructional videos I've ever seen.
I love Bernardo's enthusiasm. He is smiling and laughing through the whole thing. That's true passion. Insane leg entanglements. Lachlan is a f-ing beast.
How many BJJ instructors can take a problem (the leg lock) and not only refine it but change the total approach to the accepted way it has to be done. Giles has just cemented his spot amongst the rare breed of BJJ innovators.
I love Bernardo because even though he's an absolute beast with so much experience he still finds techniques amazing like he's a white belt in the gym on his first day.
I just showed this to my team the other night, at least my take on it from watching the match. I'm happy to see i got it really close. That last detail though about turning away is great! Cool thing about BJJ is we all share our secrets with each other and the level of competition spikes every year.
He shot 10 hours of content all about this. He has many many different entries, details and counters for all the counters that their opponents try. What happened on ADCC was definitely not "lucky". OSSS
@bernardo faria bjj. I clicked and subcribed entirely too late lol! Your fascination and love for jiujitsu technique remindes me of when I was at first a blue belt.. You are honest raw and the most vulnerable bad ass bjj practionaner to date.. This is why I felate and continue to look up to You, one of the titans in the arte swave.. Man! Keep em coming my bother.
13min - very methodical Lachy. I was thinking perhaps Bernardo's left posting leg could interfere by pushing it behind the trapped leg and forcing it forward with pressure to untangle it instead of having it posted well he still maintain pressure when sitting back but once the leg is behind the trapped leg then you could use both arms to post and then resit to add pressure.
Thank you Professor Faria and Giles! This is exactly what I was hoping to see. Thank you for presenting the most cutting edge and hottest techniques. Congratulations Lacnlan Giles at the ADCC!
Stupid blue belt question but could this be used as a viable sweep without the heel hook at the end? And would this even be IBJJF legal? As far as I can tell there isn't any reaping
Okay aside compliments and other stuff how great & smart lachlan is (and he is 😀 very intelligent person) i have a question more like idea. At 13.55 mark it is possible for bernardo to counter armbar with his left arm lachlans right arm when lachlan sneaks his right arm in because it is slow movement so there is plenty of time to react. And fall back to his rigt side or put free leg shin on lachlan head and reroll belly down to 50/50 armbar which was very popular 6-7 seven years ago. Kennan did a lot these back then now i think its rudson matheus whos using 50/50 armbars.
Do we 'own' the video or do we 'rent' the video online? (Like, will I own the mp4 that I can later watch on my own time) (Or is it that thing where we watch it for a week then gotta pay again.)
i was calling this kneebar guard. coincidence? who knows :P i also heard people call it a modified x guard hook when the other leg hooks the other leg of the opponent. But hey, Lachlan can call it what he wants after what he did!
@@brandonswan9247 it might be cuz that's what they calle it at Renzo's school cuz Eddie trained there for a long time, Firas trains there from time to time, Lachlan and Craig Jones as well. 👍
@@BernardoFariaBJJ watch "The game changers" there is a 60 year old plant based bjj black belt on there!.. it'll keep you competing for years to come!!!
i hate these kinds of guards. the way you're constantly positioning your own knee is just asking for trouble. so many positions where the slightest amount of explosive forward pressure is gonna rip your knee ligaments in half. not to mention they are entirely useless in a self defence scenario.

3 people have disliked this video: Aly, Duarte and Gaudio
Lol!

Aly admire him a lot.

Impossible not to be happy for Lachlan. He's an incredible competitor but imo an even better teacher.
Gotta say bernardo is changing the game as well inviting all the best to make proper dvds. Amazing
Doberman Mma thanks for the support :)
Doberman have dangerouse leg locks to:)
Lachlan is obviously very smart and creative guy; He deserves mad respect for helping evolve the sport.

I love how Bernardo can't restrain his smile when he's learning something new.
I love how enthusiastic Bernardo is to learn details from Lachlan. He's just giddy at points.

This reminds me a lot of Ryan Hall's 50/50 heel hook system. Almost the exact same "behind the back" heel hook.

Joseph Owens thanks for the support :)
Lachlan, can you explain what you do at 8:07? When I do this in training, I can't get my partner's knee to the ground at all.
Really interesting and enlightening for pure BJJ, but open to head kicks/stomps in self defense or MMA.
I've been doing that for a while now. At Three Headed Beast. very efficient. And there's more to that.
