1) Don't let his legs touch your torso. 2) Get the inside position. 3) Control his arm from blocking crossface. 4) Control hips. 5) Use submissions to pass 6) It is a huge honor.
I don't understand how you can step in close to the opponents body and avoid getting swept. When your foot is close enough to their hands, isn't that prime for an ankle grab and some form or control or sweep?
At 2:10 and subsequently, how do you prevent the bottom player from simply putting in the knee-shield? (Sorry if I am being obtuse. Its probably obvious, just not to me!)
By keeping the hips open the bottom player loses the strength to close the hips easily, thus the shoulder pressure and basing out on that same side leg is enough to maintain the position. But, yes the bottom player could shrimp and recover a z guard. But if the bottom leg already lost the inside position bringing up that shin shield is basically giving up the pass as top player can move around the back.

These are the kind of "basics" many school do not spend enough time teaching / rehearsing / mastering. OSS!
I love Bernardo's enthusiasm. He does a great job on these videos.
Him and MG are the two coolest guys in jiu jitsu and maybe all of martial arts. Great human beings.
Lachy is a great instructor & competitor. Love his content.
Good foundational techniques. The bonus short arm trick was great.
This is great! And in just an 8 minute video! I love John Danaher too but every time I see him its at least a half hour video.
Great insights & I especially like 4 to 4:20 bc it's a small detail but super critical to finish the pass with good control🤙
the arm tuck in the hand fight is slick
It can seem like this is an honour for Bernardo
that's because it is for him, that is why bernardo is so great.
Lachlan's face at @4:55 is so funny and relatable 😂

Bernardo is just a big old Labrador, he is so happy to be there. Has to interrupt lachlan just to tell him how awesome he is.

The inside position? Bernardo talks about " both legs inside". He means "hips inside, one leg in , one outside"? What am I missing?
