You can't anything to eat that has nutritional value in the states for $6.00. That diet coke and a bag of potato chips would cost you $6.00 here. I'm heading to Thailand next year. I still work full time now but im planning on retireing next year. I'll be 63 years old and I could live off my social security payments that are projected to be about $2000 a month. You give me hope of finally getting out of this rat race for survival in the states. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Safe travels my friend.
I just loved all your videos from Hua Hin, my home away from home. I’m planning traveling very much like you do but maybe have an apartment in Hua Hin as a base. I’m looking forward to follow your upcoming adventures
I almost stayed at The Castaway 420 Hotel , ended up at ,Kiang Haad Beach Hotel, between Blueport and Market Village. I was there for most of November.
I only just got back to Hawaii a few weeks ago. I live next to the jungle in Keaau , grow lots of plants, fruit and veggies. I love it here. Although Thailand has my heart 💗 and I love Hua Hin 🎉 can't wait to go back.🤙🏽
Hi Chris, another great 30 days costs video, yet without the total it costs you to live for 30 days in Hua Hin? If you could provide a total cost, it would be really useful my friend. Also, did you miss out costs for drinks and entertainment, plus any groceries you buy for snacks and the room etc..? Cheers :)
What physiotherapy are you doing for the sciatic nerve pain? I had the onset of severe sciatic pain in my left hip/leg/foot 4 months ago. Had no idea what the deal was because never had anything like that before. The problem turned out to be a dessicated disc between L4 and L5 vertebrae. So I watched some UTube videos on physiotherapy for sciatica/lumbago. Started doing the moves daily, about 20 minutes per session, felt better immediately. After about 1.5 months, all the pain and tingling and weakness was completely gone. I also took some strong anti-inflammatory medicine for the first week, because according to what I was told, the cause of the pain is sciatic nerve inflammation. Now I am in the know about spinal alignment and vertebae spacing. I really like the energy and enthusiasm of your videos!
Great Video ! I show my friends you can live like a westerner or a Thai in Hua Hin. You can eat at familiar places to the west, or live and eat extremely well on Thai offered food. I do not eat out at all in the USA due to cost, I love all food and Thai is a treat here for me, all that food you got at the vendors for $2.00 I'll take any day over a burger and fries !
Can't wait Between 60-90 visa Thailand and Vietnam 90 day Visa so easy to hop around Southeast Asia March2025. Hua hin/Da nanag...Thanks for all the advice really helpful !
We will be in Thailand this spring for a month for a "test run". I am staying at one of the hotels I saw you recommended - B House in Chiang Mai. I can't wait! TY for your wonderful and motivating content!
You can definitely live comfortably in Thailand for 2,000 dollars a month. I think most people only need to pay no more than 30 USD a month to get sufficient wifi here though. Good video as always, cheers!
Hi Chris not sure if in your plans now you have more time, but as you are on the east coast you may want to travel further down into parachupkirikhan and further to songklha and Chumpon
Thanks for showing your costs! Big like! 👍 That's a neat cost saving trick doing your laundry like that. Probably makes clothes last longer as well. Do you have cotton or linen shirts? What about costs to keep your token footprint in the US? Do you use a mail service for an address that scans and shreds your mail?
Hi Chris I’m a big fan of your channel and you have inspired me more than all the other slow travel you tubers. Thank you for all the valuable information! I’m starting slow travel in 2026? I’m torn between Europe and South east Asia?
Question? Did you ever get a massage while in Bali? Which do you prefer, Thai or Balanese? I'm not a fan of the Thai, but the best massage I ever had was in Bali. Ever try using a dry bag for laundry? Put the wash in the dry bag and roll it around your room.😁 I used to fly with an inflatable red donut pillow. It's also known as a hemmerrhoid pillow. I don't have hemmerrhoids, but it is the most comfy at about 60% inflation. I used to love the way people would look at me as I blew up the pillow.😂 I now travel with a self inflating 10" x 18" seat mat, kind of like the self inflating camping mats that you sleep on, but smaller. It folds down to the size of a coffee mug. The trick is to sit on it like a saddle, back to front.
To get there from Phuket it's best to just take a bus if you take bus and train the train only runs at night, It's more difficult making connections and timing so just take the bus.
May be I missed it, I don't think you mentioned 'monthly' transportation cost. You did mention some ride prices, I don't think you provided a monthly total.
perhaps i have missed it previously but a video with visa costs, visa run costs, etc.. anything and everything that money goes to as there could be things that those of us still living elsewhere may not even be thinking or accounting for and then showing it in spreadsheet form or something that shows line items and total cost would be great.. thanks for an overall good video though
The disadvantages of Danang are There are often typhoons during the monsoon season. which can destroy buildings and trees and may cause an accident. and unable to go out.
Another good one. Can't wait for where next. Laos maybe? As a single dude I don't see you posting much about 'entertainment' costs or such distractions. I know personally half my budget goes to keeping distracted 😅😊
Don't forget the new Thai tax laws (I'm sure you haven't), 180 days maximum stays (that would be 3 x 60 day visa for you) after that you'd become tax resident 😱
Love these types of videos, but i would suggest you to use an ESIM instead of an international plan. In Thailand it would cost you 50$ for a month, so you would be able to lower your cost of living.
Can you explain your international phone plan more? You said that you use AT&T, but the only “plan” I’ve found with ATT that offers international travels is 12$ a day for 10 days overseas, then the rest of the month you won’t be charged. The caveat though is you gotta have an existing regular phone plan so that’s phone plan cost + 120$. Not the cheapest thing out there
@ well, some of us are trying to manage brokerage accounts, and bank accounts overseas too. Having access to US phone data plan is the main intent of the original question
Do they ask at the airport immigration anything for frequent travel in tourist visa. I heard some UA-camrs they say they are questioned. American UA-camrs if asian descent
Hidden fees seem to sneak up on you everywhere these days. Foreign transaction fees. Hotel check-in surprise. Sneaky hotel fees. Balance transfer fees. Overdraft fees.. Etc
Just because you are stuck in a whirlpool of mud, you want to entice others into it. 😮 When your money runs dry and your youth spent, you may get your head stuck in the mud or sand and die because of lack of oxygen.😂

Best wishes. At 60, I’m 3 years behind you. Cheers 🍻
Thank you
I appreciate this comment
I'm 6 years behind you. Hopefully it will still be cheap and awesome by the time I'm retired with social security
Love your videos! I`m living vicariously through you because I am so ready to leave Canada.
I totally understand
It’s time to go !
You have great content and great energy. I look forward to your vlogs. All the best. Cheers

It’s a nice location
Kind hearted staff
love your washing machine
The street carts at 6 minutes 50 are where I ate almost every other day for my main meal. They were about 3 minutes from my hotel. Happy days!
Great way to go !

Each video will break these down
:-)
Great points
Another great video. Airfare cost would be great especially the affordable airlines in South East Asia. Thanks for sharing
I’ll work on this
It’s cheaper in Asia !
Hua Hin does it for me - everything you need in retirement
Truth
It’s great
Awesome my friend, you give me hope to retire in a fugal manner. Hua Hin is an attractive place to retire.

It’s a good choice

You are most welcome

They collect my mail
Almost nothing is mailed

Thailand will be starting a charge in 2025
I have not seen any this year
14:30 do they require ironing or good to go without
So what is your total for the 30 days? 2000 U.S.?
Under for sure
I almost never hit 2000
1500 maybe
Tolles Video. Warst du auch schon in Vietnam? Ich denke Da Nang würde dir gefallen. Wunderschön und extrem günstig.

I have videos up

The 60-day visa will suit you , and it will reduce your flight cost . These videos are inspiring and real .
I agree with you !
Hi R&G 😎, have you found inexpensive sites or airline carriers to SE Asia? Thx’s
Yes
Firefly and scoot
Another inspiring video - thank you Chris!… is you long-term plan to slow travel mainly in SE Asia to remain within the $2000 pm budget? Thanks
That’s a good target to go for
Chris, does your Hua Hin Hotel comes with a swimming pool?
It did not
I do like a pool
I used to have banana bread at aloha stadium
