I just got my gs300 and I'm stoked to do this. Who the hell would thumbs this down?! Thanks man!
+bam bam i appreciate that. Hope you enjoy your new ride
Who the hell would thumbs this down?.... anyone that knows anything about installing
They sell a bypass harness now
Thank you soooo much, exactly the video I needed and was looking for!!
I spoke with 4 different Crutchfield technical support staff and I was on the phone with the 4th technician for 2hrs and still was not able to power up my unit and suggested I buy a voltmeter 🙄😕. After I hung up with him, and I came across your video and decided to give it a try, had nothing to lose, seems like I've tried all the other combinations except yours!!! And to my amazement, my unit came to life!!! I'm usually not one to comment, but I felt I needed to in this instance...THANK YOU!!
+Edward Silverio Jr Glad that you had sucess with it
Best tutorial. Thanks bro.
Now all i need to do is google the speaker wires diagram
Thanks for this video it was right there u nailed the information needed
Also thank you for the info exactly what I needed I have a 98 Lexus ES300
just what I was looking for. Great Video pal. cheers.
+Sam Stone i figured this video would help out to give people an idea of how to bypass the amp. I know ive searched and there was no videos or forums that explained it.
How did you power the new receiver
Nice weed pipe homie!! smoke on Seattle stylin' in the Lexus LS400...
Thanks man got me rolling with music now !
Hey mate are you able to put a link to the speaker wires
I did this too but my system lets out a constant high pitch squeel. Everything works but that squeel is bothersome, any tips on how to fix?
Great video. I’m still trying to figure it out for my 00 ls400
Yo I installed a new boss double din stereo into my 98 Lexus es300 right. At first it worked but then it drained my battery so I reconnected the right wires together and my car turned on but then idk now my car wont start. It cranks but wont start. Got any ideas what can be causing this? Thank you.
Thank you so much
Great video mate, good info 👍🏼
great video ..simple and to the point ... do you have a link to the speaker wires color codes
Hi sir, i have 98 ls400 and i need to install aftermarket stereo , i stuck in tow Din herness , if you can help me to find wich color is the B+ and switch, thanks in advance
I have a 1999 GS300. I am trying to install an aftermarket headunit. I cannot get power to my door speakers at all. When I do, it causes issues with my headunit. Do you have pictures of your wiring harness? Did you use an installation kit? How did you do it because I can't figure it out at all. Especially the wire colors and what attaches to what on the head unit.
Dude.. You should have used the Connectors you bought (Dew hicky), those plug directly to the stock connectors from the Lexus Amp output (white connectors).. All you need to do is Extend the harness from the back of the HU to the AMP connectors.. Then Plug them in ! Constant Power is Already in that connector, you ONLY need to add the switched power (Grey wire from behind deck)
Actually they did not plug in. Thats why i didnt use them and hard wired it
OK.. Wow, cause that is what they are for.. I used the adaptors on a 2000 Camry, then I moved my HU into a 2000 GS300, and it was Plug and Play.. No crimping, no soldering at all ! Just pulled the bottom two white connectors from the Lexus Amp and plugged in the adaptors from my HU (same as the Camry).. I Did need to ADD the Accessory wire (grey).. The 1998 GS300 should have the same connectors as the 2000 at the stock AMP.. Great Video by the way !!
Thats awesome and thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Hope you have a great day
Well said business connect. I have a 98 Ls400 and my adaptors connect perfectly to the (side by side white plugs) coming from my lexus amp. I also just realized right before i read your post that that the constant in the adaptor actually works. All other information in every video on you tube says you have to get your constant from behind the deck. I have sound now I just have to figure out how to get my factory sub working . Thanks Business Connect and Project Flip....1!
If my factory amp still works am I able to just do that without taking out the glovebox
After you did this have you disconnected the battery do see if it effects anti theft system
You only need the constant and switch wire if you are using the factory sub right?
If i'm using an aftermarket amp and sub I guess I can run the switch wire as my remote on but do I need to have to 12v constant for anything?
Basically, what do I need the 12v constant and switch for?
Did you ground radio behind glove box above amp? Thanks in advance ✌🏽
Yes i did. More solid connection that way
I have the same promble but only play the music thru my factory sub in car and 2 speakers i paid 250 at best buy 4 days later they tell me when i go bk get a new amplifier becuse it stop playing music but i got it to work thru my subs dose that makes sec i need help hooking it up right
Does is make a difference if my GS has the navi
great video, but couldn't you still use the harness that came with the kit.
+Aaron Ham i wasnt able to find the correct adaptor to connect the stereo and the factory amp died so i had to bypass it and had to rewire everything to get an aftermarket amp and sub to work. Thanks again for watching.
@@JoeFasho i just picked up a low mile 2000. The back light don't work on the radio. Look like my next project. Great vid
Yes it does. Many forums and car stereo places state that you can't buy a wiring harness to fit our cars but that is terrible information. That aftermarket harnesses that comes with the stereo Dash kit work to perfection. I have a 98 Ls 400 and after reading and watching a crap ton of wrong information. Here I am 2 and a half months later with sound. We all have almost Identical manufacturer plugs!
Will this work on a 2003 Lexus es300 ?
I install a new aftermarket radio and speakers , but the sounds still suck cus of the stock amp ..
Yes it will work but you will need to look up the stereo wiring diagram for the es model
Do u know any website for that ?
Thanks for this video. How did this affect your AC controls?
It didnt affect the ac at all. The wires i spliced into were for the stereo/amp only.
Do you have to bi pass amp
Not necessarily. Mine stopped working so i bypassed it
Looks a mess, the harness you said you didn't need plugs into the 2 white amp plugs.
Damn aristo has the factory Amp in the trunk. Mine shit the bed like 5 years ago
I have a big question bro I'm gathering my stuff to do sound system install on my car. I an going to do the bypass as you did but I do have a question did you have or are having any issues with the alarm system
I cant really say that i did because my alarm didnt work when i bought the car. I would recommend talking to an audio shop to make sure its not going to interfere with your alarm
Just a question. Did you replug the plug to the amp after you splice the speakers wires?
No my amp was bad so i had to bypass it. Doing this, you will lose power to the sub and have to install an aftermarket amp to run the sub.
ProjectFlip ty. For some reason no sounds is coming out of the stereo. I have power on my stereo. Just no power.
And also thank you for your help.
You may need to double check to make sure you have the power and accessory wire hooked to the correct wires. Also check the fusebox to make sure there is no blown fuse
Hi where did you get the bracket the fit in the original space
+Afzal Ahmed i ordered it from ebay
Flip share the link please😊
+Afzal Ahmed i do appologize but i do not have the link anymore. I purchased it a long time ago. If you go on ebay and type the year, make, model of your car along with the keyword stereo housing (ex: lexus gs300 aftermaket stereo hosuing) in the ebay search it should pull up the results. Select the one for your year vehicle. Hope this helps
Can u show me how use factory amp to hook up a sub
Factory amp isnt strong enough to power aftermarket sub. Plus i dont dont have the lexus anymore. Sry bout that
Factory sub that comes in car is like oversized stock door speaker. Very low powered and low wattage
I have the same car and I have a aftermarket stereo installed and it all powers on but I get no sound from my speakers on any mode. I have barely any experience in car audio so I don't know what the problem could be. Any help is appreciated thanks.
+Fallen I would recommend starting with the basics fisrt. Check all connections and check your speakers too. The speaker wires linked to factory amp are the thicker ones. Make sure nothing is plugged into the amp. The wire coloring are going to be mismatched on the cars stock harness. You can google a stereo wire diagram to see which color wires go to each speaker. Are you an aftermarket stereo or the stock one?
It's an aftermarket stereo I bought. Everything is wired up and I get power and a display just no sound.
+Fallen There is an error in the connection somewhere. Make sure the amp has nothing connected to it. Did you plug in the antennae wire? There is 2 of them and the thicker one needs to be plugged in
Where does the antenna needed be wired to?
Yo I'm in the process right now and I have the same thing you do I just have a question, please help asap
+K.O.D Crystals Sry ive been super busy lately. What question did you have?
Joe keith what amp should I get because now my 8 inch sub does not work after the by pass
+K.O.D Crystals any aftermarket amp will work. I have a 600watt powering my 12in and it sounds great. I think i got the amp on ebay for like 50 bucks. Its just an offbrand amp but ive used it for the last 2 years in different cars
3:46 amen
Did you retain your factory sub?
I used the factory sub for a short while and hooked it directly to an aftermarket amp. The factory sub was very under powered and almost blew when under load with the aftermarket set up. In ended up putting an aftermarket 12 in its place
I retrofitted it to the factory position
What fourms did you use?
Didnt use any forums. They provided no info. The only thing i really had to do was google the stereo wiring harness to get the colors matched up for each speaker
Sup man. I've been at this for 2 days. I got power but no sound. All the speaker wires are correct. Can u help me plz 😭
I no longer have that car anymore but the stock amp that comes factory with the car had to be bypassed in my car. I googled the wiring diagram for the speakers and amp to know where to connect the speakers from the aftermarket stereo. If the stock amp does not work in your car, then you will get no sound and will have to bypass it or get a new factory amp. If you plan to bypass the factory amp, please do this at your own risk. Otherwise i would recommend taking it to a professional to diagnose the issue.
@@JoeFasho yes I did exactly what u did. Bypassed it. No sound
It is tricky. It took me a few days to get it right myself. Without seeing it for myself its hard to gauge where the issue could be at.
If you have a spare speaker you can test the audio directly by connecting one of the set of speaker wires to it and see if you get sound that way. It acts like a bypass. If you get sound, you can run speaker wire directly to the speakers from the stereo
@@JoeFasho will def try that tomorrow. Freaking car gives me a headache lol thanks man I appreciate it.
Did something where my ac went out
Pretty sure lexus ls400 is the same thing just that the amp is under passenger seat
Nop in the truck... Either the left side if it's a small amp or the right if it has CD player
Exactly...! However, the harness that comes with the Dash kit does fit the plugs almost perfectly.
why not just use the low signal out (rcas) to the factory amp? than you wouldn't have had to butcher up all the wiring. those do-hickies serve as a good point to solder your rca leads too.
The factory amp was blown that's why I bypassed it the way I did
my friend.
what are the symptoms of having bad amplifier.
I have gs300 (2003).
the problem is that everything works in my stereo, but their is no sound coming from the speakers.
I think it might be the amplifier, but how to make sure that the amplifier working well
+Fahad AlMaawali im not sure on how to test. The amp. You may have to take it to a audio shop or your local dealer to have it checked
I want my factory stereo to stay in my car im just trying to bypass the ampliferi but the amp burnt out an the stereo wont turn on
+Emilee Guzman you may want an aftermarket amp to get the good sound out of it. I wired my speaker wire from the stereo directly to the harness bypassing the amp. You can find a wiring diagram on google that lets you know which colored wire is the positive and negative for each speaker
should this work the same way on an 04 lincoln navigator with factory amplified system?
+Brandon Matsubara It should be the same concept. You may have to google the factory stereo wiring diagram to get the proper wire colors for the speakers. Other than that you just need to find the constant power wire that has current when car is off, 12 volt switch wire, which gets power when you turn the car to accessory and find a solid ground
