How to install android car stereo in your lexus gs300 gs400 gs430 DIY

- in this video I show you how I wired my after market android car stereo into my lexus gs300 but works with gs400 and gs430 years 98-05. There are a few websites with wiring diagrams but I found that a few of them are not accurate below is the wire colors i used on the vehicle as well as the location.
Constant 12V+ Blue/Yellow located on radio plug
Switched 12V+ Gray located on radio plug
Ground no wire available ground wire to chasis
Illumination Light Green located on radio plug
Left Front (+) Pink located on factory amp plug
Left Front (-) Purple located on factory amp plug
Right Front (+) Light Green located on factory amp plug
Right Front (-) Blue located on factory amp plug
Left Rear (+) Black located on factory amp plug
Left Rear (-) Yellow located on factory amp plug
Right Rear (+) Red located on factory amp plug
Right Rear (-) White located on factory amp plug
The factory amp is located behind the glove box. Remove the glove box via 3 philips screws inside along the top and 2 10mm under the glove box on the ouside of it.

Just wanted to say thank you. I’m on my third GS in 12 years. They are timeless, and my favorite car. I’ve always had double din head units in four years of owning this one I haven’t touched anything on the audio. and had a connect at Carson Toyota where I was able to get the oem Toyota double din plate and mounts from Japan, But now have been unsuccessful because I think Toyota stopped making them. This is literally the cleanest modern look you can get without any major modification, and since watching this I have placed an order for mine. Thanks again brother 🤙🏻

Just in case someone might not know: installers use a bundled cable called 9 wire. It has 4 channels worth of speaker wire plus an extra one for amp remote signal. Saves a lot more space than running 4 passes of bulky speaker wire over to the factory harness.
Would be good from trunk to the rear of head unit, this method as shown is good as the wire can be virtually purchased any where vs the 14,16,18-9 not carried in to many places

@Dos Santos on my Wide body GS I removed the OEM subwoffer from the deck and replaced it witch a 10" alpine type S, I also used a aftermarket alpine amplifier

@Dos Santos I have air suspension in my trunk, with sub box I won't have much more trunk space so decided to just do the deck sub as I mentioned

Get a aftermarket Amp kit with and do an external sub and box wich is what I did

I followed your method but l did find out that the white with black stripe wire is ground on the big wire harness that plugs into the amplifier

Hey I have a 2000 RX 300 and of course having the same issue there's no plug and play... This video is helping me because I may have to run the wires to the speakers myself, so I'm just curious about the amp situation and wondering if the bypass is required
Never delt with a rx before but should be the same but maybe different color speaker wire

Hey man, thanks for this tutorial. Looking at doing this in my GS. I was curious if you ever made a video of replacing the factory amp and sub in the original positions. If it’s possible to significantly upgrade the sound without losing OEM form, I need it, but I’m having a hard time finding videos of the process on here. Thanks again!
I have not made a video, I ended up selling the silver gs300, on my wide body I do have a 10" alpine type S sub in the factory deck location, it fits with no mods just make sure you add rtv

Nice video... The reason why its slow is because theres only 1gb ram in it.. I bought the cheap one too thinking it didnt matter. It does. At least 2gb of ram, maybe 4 if you cant find it. Also what year is your GS?
It wasn't terribly slow for the price it was at the time, this GS was 2003 but the car ended up selling 1 month after this video

Great video and we'll explained. My only question is why does my gs400 not have a grey wire. I used a volt meter to check for the acc (12 when car is in acc mode) but no success. Any ideas?

The brand was "DEC" I got it on ebay back in 2021, I just checked the listing and it is no longer available at least from the seller I got mine from.
Did you need a bracket to hold the screen in? If so, which one did you buy?
I used a mixture of the oem radio braket and the the ones that came with the new head unit, I show how I did it the previous video
I got another question man how do you install a skar sub with this? And the harness only has one line out sub
Sorry for the late reply, but installing a sub is just like any other head unit, you need an amplifier for your sub and obviously a sub in a box and a amplifier wiring kit wich contain all the wire to get the amp powered on and rca cable that run from head unit to amp, on the headunit there is a rca out put labeled sub, that's where you land the rca for the amp

do I need to replace the factory subwoofer if I have a gs400? is it the same process?
Gs400 would be the same process, with this method you are canceling out the factory amplifier that's also means you lose audio to the factory sub, on this silver gs300 I added an aftermarket amplifier and replaced the factory subwoffer with a alpine 10in subwoffer, the 10in fits perfect in the factory location and handles more power

I connect one of the channels of the radio to a speaker a separate speaker that I have. And I hear nothing play is there something I have to do to the radio so that I can hear the sound.
Also I think GS have subwoofer? does your wiring still support subwoofer? how to you wiring back camera from front to back trunk?
No the subwoofer will no longer be operational, the alternative I did was upgrade the woofer and install a aftermarket amp, I never got a round to installing the camera since the car sold

One of your eq wires is hooked up wrong
@@Ricardo_Wade that's what I'm thinking. I have it grounded to the chasis like you showed in the video. Getting power from the blue/yellow wire and the remote is hooked up the the radio remote.

I just received the same radio yesterday, And I install it looks perfect fits grate only thing is my amp is not behind the glove Box. It's in trunk, does this radio need a amp in order to hear the sound or can l just Connect speakers 🔊 to it. Having got to that point yet that's why I'm asking.
Did you originally have the oem gps?
No i did not i had a factory pioneer unit, if you wanna run this screen from a oem GPS you will need to purchase the non gps climate from eBay or salvage yard

I bought a 99 gs300 but the wiring is all messed up from a previous owner. The speaker wires arenall missing. There is a blue plug and a orange plug attached to a white thing on the left side of the blower motor but the orange plug has nothing plugged in, i was wondering if the speaker wires are supposed to be plugged in there. If so, couldnt i just take apart the plug and use the wires from there?

Why did you run new wires for the speakers, doesn't the factory ones work (pink purple etc)‽
I ran wires from the new radio to the speaker input plug at the amp, older cars did not have amp just a radio wich is why all the speaker wires were at the rear of the radio, in the lexus they only go to the amp wich is why I had to run new wires from the new radio to the speaker/amp plug

Yes but your speaker wires from the head unit will obviously be longer since you gotta run them to the trunk

I am an android user i wouldn't know of one, but if you click the link that I have in the description for this model it specs Apple car play, might be a 3rd party app but I know this screen was more motivated towards ios user base
does radio have a front camera feature also
Different purposes, on my Wide body I have a front facing camera pointing down, this allows me to see how far away my front lip is from a curve before I lower the car to the floor, on my raptor, ford put it in the grill so when your climbing a steep hill and your pointing to the sky the camera will point down or leveled so you can see the terrain or what at the top of the hill when you physically can't, but you can use it in any way you want

DEC exhaust manifold with integrated catalytic converted, bought it on eBay brand new

Not really long as both paired colors go to 1 speaker
Example: solid grey and grey with black stripe go to driver door
Solid white and white with black stripe go to passenger door etc.
So I'm replacing my old double din player with this unit, surprisingly the old power harness plugs right in and powers the new hikity unit. My problem is figuring out the sound connection . The system has an aftermarket amp and sub which has RCA jacks connecting to the old unit. How can I connect it to the new hikity unit?
Do you have 2 amps 1 for highs and 1 for subs?

@@SloppyJoe671 ok so you can skip this bypass and not hook up any speakers to the head unit, instead hook up to the rca outputs, the head unit only has 1 sub output female rca, you will need to buy a rca splitter 1male end and 2 females ends
I see a few newer 9 inch models on Amazon since this video has been posted. Should those fit the same exact way? They look almost identical

Illumination wire is so the radio dims when you turn the headlights on

so once you put in the aftermarket radio... the stock sub can not be used anymore? there's no way at all to use it ?
Unfortunately you lose the sub function, the sub is powered by the oem amp when adding aftermarket head unit your eliminating the oem amp along with sub, on my wide body gs300 I added a aftermarket amp and replaced the oem sub with a 10" alpine type s sounds 10 times better than stock
I got the radio working but no sound and the amp already looks bypassed anything you can suggest?

Congratulations, I've only had a gs400 for a few months most of my long term gs have been 300s with inline 6s (2jz) the (1uz) has been known to be very reliable as long as you up keep it .
Is it possible ot do a double din install on GS models with Navigation? I've tried searching online but couldn't find any info.
Yes but you will need to to buy a non navigation model climate control and then follow the way I did it from there on. The climate is built into the navigation unit on your model at the time

Why cant i keep the stock subs and the stock amp workin and also run an aftermarket sub and amp at the same time?
There is no way to to wire the aftermarket radio to the factory amp and the stock sub is wired to the amp so that's the reason, you can wire the door speakers directly to the radio and they are actually louder than with the stock amp you can get a amp to run the stock sub or just replace the stock sub with one in a box
By any chance can we just inpin some of the wires on the plugs from the amp and make them match the wiring harness?
You would have to color search on our gs there is 3 variations i belive

Whats the difference between the light green wires for the front right speaker and illumination?
They look the same color but different thickness the light green behind the radio is thiner and that just tells the radio to dim when the headlights turn on, if you don't connected the brightness will be the same day or night lights on or off, the light green by the stock amp is 1 of the wires leading to door speaker

I own like this car and I want to install a Pioneer avh-w4500nex on it, but I have a question, if I canceled the factory amplifier like you did in this video, would that make the sound better or worse?
It's defenatly louder, in my wide body, I have avh4400 with 2 10" alpine type S the head unit puts out good enough highs with the oem speakers, the oem amp mainly drives the oem sub woofer

@@Abdullah_Alfayez the w4500 is a good unit it will pump up better sound than the oem head unit, I myself added a alpine amp and a 10" sub to the deck, any 10" sub will fit in the same place and give you a better sound without a box unless a box is a option, I would defenatly get one

I’ve ordered the 10” alpine type s 2 ohm and 1100w boss amp 2/4 ohm, do you think it will work properly ?

You need a amp as well, the amp you would connect as you would any, Red to batter fused, black to chassis, and blue to remote on the radio

Yes I have it on both the silver gs and I also have the 10" model on my wide body gs both seem to push the door speaker well and I listen to my music pretty loud

I seen another video where they just used the harness and connected it to the factory harness from the amp area. They only used that grey wire. May i ask why you didnt do that or am i missing something? Thanks
The 2gs had 3 diffrent variations of harness and radios, my amp output to the speakers is located at the amp behind the glove box not the rear of the stock head unit wich is why I did it how I did and has worked on several cars I've done in the past

The wide body has infinity door speakers with mb quart tweeters and the stock sup has been replaced with a 10" alpine type R sub, I didn't do a box in the trunk since I have a air suspension managment and still wanted some trunk room
does it have carplay?
It's been a while since I've messed with it, but I belive its just normal 2 way bluetooth, it will still tell you the name of the track on the screen and you can can change tracks back and foward, directly from the radio
Yo just used your wire guide to do my stereo but do you know which wires are for the rear subwoofer ?
Unfortunately you lose the rear subwoofer when doing aftermarket radio on these GS
Ricardo Wade turns out you can tap the wires from sub to one of the speakers then you gain the sub but nothing too deep
@@noodlesaredelcious well yes you can wire it like that but your putting more load on that 1 output and run the risk of burning it out, you can just buy a cheap amp off offerup or craigs and wire it that way

So there is no wire harness to buy to plug and play? You have to cut wires? I’m deathly afraid of wires lol but need this in my GS after 15 years
Unfortunately there is no direct harness for our cars, I went into lengthy detail on this video to give viewers like you the confidence to do it, I understand many are a bit scared of electrical but if you follow this video you should be successful just be sure to dissconnect the ground terminal from battery prior to starting

@@Ricardo_Wade I just realized after revisiting your video o have a 400 with the Nakamichi stereo which means the amp is in the trunk. There is nothing in the glove box on a GS4. Will wires need to be extended to the trunk?

Android car radio, basically like a phone in your dash
Cannot install a radio in my 98 gs 400. Radio is navigation with the screen. There is no harness for it
There is no harness made for the GS that is direct plug and play thats why I made this video, if you wanna put a screen like mine you gotta buy the non GPS climate control then install an aftermarket radio

Where did you get ground wire from
It's just a wire nothing special about if that that's what you are asking as for grounding location any chasis metal is a ground, o grounded behind the glove box

No I used to factory radio ones just drilled some new holes and done

Never had an LS body boss so don't wanna give you wrong information, but I'm sure some tweeks here and there, it should be possible.

Just like any other aftermarket head unit, buy a amp installation kit, a amp of choice and sub

Yes will connect to any iphone via Bluetooth
What if the amp is in the trunk?'same set up?

I bought it off Ebay the brand manufacture is DEC EXHAUST MANIFOLD it's the cheapest one I found that was California compliant
So did the ash tray fit back under the new Android radio?
It had to be shaved a bit, I did it using a grinder with a flap disk, sorry I havnt updated a video but easy to do there is a metal support just shave the plastic trim until even with the metal support

And what gauge ground wire did you use?
I did not use a wiring harness there is no wiring harness that will be direct plug and play i encourage you to watch the entire video and you can see how i wired it up

@@andrewgerena5447 I'm not sure since it was some months back, I belive it was possibly a 16guage you can look at the wires on the radio harness and it should state what guage that is, i would go 1 guage lowere than what the radio is for example if the radio wore is 16awg I would run a 14awg.
Ricardo Wade hey I was doing this install and so far I’ve got the radio wired up and grounded and I ran speaker wires to my glove box like you showed.. but my car does not have a factory amp behind the glove box. Are you familiar with them coming without a amp and do you know any other way I can locate the cables to complete the install?

Not sure what you mean unlock Bluetooth, it should send you a pairing code when initially connection to your phone
