    its weird. I dont remember logi getting as much flak for the superlight. I know they did and some people hated the price but I dont remember this level of discussion around this transition to lightweight stuff. Its almost like logi benefited from holding back on features for their mice. Both companies made sacrifices to arrive at a low weight and high price. but razer seems hurt more by it because they had more features to strip away.

    • @shaekisbat5043
      @shaekisbat5043 2 роки тому +154

      and remember logi used the same sensor, the exact same shell and the same shitty omron switches on the superlight and still charged a huge markup. At least razer is pushing the technology on their mice as overkill and unnecessary as they may be.

      It's more like, logitech did it almost 2 years ago, when the market wasn't as competitive. Why get a deathadder v3 pro when the pulsar xlite v2 exists. There is too much competition nowadays to sell such a normal spec mouse at 150.

    • @ayyayyron
      @ayyayyron 2 роки тому +12

      Logitech didn't get flak because the superlight launched in a market with almost no saturation. The only real competition at the time was finalmouse, who also had ridiculous prices. The $60-$80 lightweight mice started becoming well known after the superlight released. Razer is releasing this mouse into a market that now has heavy competition at far lower price points, and doesn't really offer anything new over their competition.

    • @badseedtech
      @badseedtech  2 роки тому +58

      Yeah that's a great point. I remember have a *small* vocal minority that weren't thrilled with the Superlight, but mostly people were excited to get a big-brand performance mouse that didn't have holes. The lightweight wireless game was mostly served by like G-Wolves and others if memory serves. Maaaybe Glorious, can't remember when MoW dopped. Felt like a bunch of low quality, generic mice with holes at that time.
      But yeah, to your other point, the 1/2 combo of the Viper Ult and the DAv2 on the dock was it for me - I didn't mind the heavier weight on the DAv2 bc I knew what it was and what I was gonna use it for.

    INNACCURATE INFO AT 1:10 - the measurement labels on the EC2 are incorrect, the listed values are for the EC1.
    DAv3 *is* still a longer, taller EC2. It is a hair wider though - not narrower.

    I’m glad to see a good refresh on the deathadder design. It was my first mouse. The price is pretty hard to swallow though, and the lack of a top DPI button. I do love Razer’s optical switches, but I think for the price I’d rather go for the glorious or Pwnage ergo options

    I think this was a good move on Razer's part, the Deathadder is a comfortable shape, but previous to this model they have always been crazy heavy. I have the Viper V2 Pro, but tempted to get this mouse simply because I haven't used a Deathadder for a good 10 years and it would be kind of nostalgic.

    My favorite part of the death adder is the flared clicks as no matter where my fingers are it’s always able to click. That’s the issue I have with any other mouse the edge of my middle finger always hits the edge of the mouse and messes with my right click. Huge shame they changed that. Also no dpi buttons in the middle. I really see this as a downgrade.

    • @JDAWG2111
      @JDAWG2111 2 роки тому +5

      This is a MAJOR downgrade from the V2 Pro. The significant redesign, that whole list of features removed, the removal of the side rubberized grips (forcing you to use the much uglier grip tape if you want it). I'm so glad I recently picked up the V2 Pro for cheap.

    • @justinedzard
      @justinedzard 2 роки тому

      Yeah, those flares and the ergo shape are the main reason that I mained two mice now, the RVU and DA V2 Pro, Viper for comps, DA for light work and casual games

    • @3ildcard
      @3ildcard 2 роки тому +2

      @@JDAWG2111 Well, lucky for you as i highly doubt they're going to discontinue the old DA any time soon. The price may even drop more. I got mine for 80€ months ago. It seems to be "on sale" for the past 6-7 months in my country every other week. It's not my shape and i haven't used it for over a week in total but it's very good mouse indeed.
      As for downgrade, it's targetted towards different audience but, i don't like the "less features, less plastic, higher price" marketing tactic that has been floating around for the past year. Not just with Razer, but everyone else that falls into that category.

    • @FriendNotFoeBand

Its hard to fork over $150 for a lightweight ergo when you have mice like the Xlite and Model D wireless (Now pro version too) out there. The dimensions on 1:14 for the Zowie mouse are for the EC1 not for the EC2. I am pretty sure its labelled incorrectly if you go by the official measurements by zowie on their site.

    Totally agree that its less mouse for more money, as other people have said I bought the v2 for most of the features they have now removed and found it very comfortable they didn't need to change anything other than USB C and the rubberised sides as they wear out very quickly.

    Never been a Deathadder fan, in fact I couldn't stand the shape previously. This new mouse however looks like one I definitely want to try though I guess that won't be anytime soon thanks to that price (to be fair that goes for all wireless mice). I got the DAV3 wired and i really loved it but the cable was just a bit too stiff, i think if they made the wire on it super flexible like previous wired razer mouses i've owned, i gladly would've given up the 8000hz polling rate for a better cable. The DaV3 is probably slightly better in terms of sensor placement, cable and weight, but the Prime is 100% perfect when it comes to build quality, shape and buttons. The latter of which the DaV3 seems to not be, as it’s reported it has some side wobble and notable post travel. I can’t stand side wobble, especially if there’s signs of the post travel being scratchy as it has been on my previous 3 lightweight ergo mice 😅 Luckily I found a mouse with somewhat unique buttons/switches with absolutely zero signs of that

    The price is steep however this is where they have me in a bit of a bind. I also have large hands. I've tried a lot of other mice and this mouse alongside the model O and the model S are the only mice that feels comfortable to me. The fact that it uses usb c a plus to me because I travel with my mouse to work or use it at home for work. It will be nice to forget about the cable because all my devices use USB c or lightning. This is highly contingent on the port being able to accept non proprietary cables. The big Downer is that the docking port for the USB receiver is gone I wish they adapted what roccat did with their kone pro air mice where the receiver can be seated inside the mouse for travel purposes. I'm not going to miss the lighting from my dav2. If this is that much of a letdown then I'll return it.

    Im getting more of a Razer Mamba vibe with this, instead of the Deathadder.

    This is a good mouse, but slightly hard to justify for me personally. I purchased a Deathadder v2x for $45, and I like it a lot for what it is. The matte black finish and no RGB is a design aesthetic I can relate to. I also own a Steelseries Prime Wireless, which gives me a lot of the EC shape, but without the DA front flare. So while I am curious about this mouse, I basically can't justify the price tag. Perhaps wired though. Would be interesting if that came with 8k polling.

    Best mouse ever made! Ergonomic, fast clicks, Zowie-esque shape, light-weight baby, good build and great sensor as well as up to 4000hz!

    Looks like a great mouse and the price seems fair to me given the performance and overall quality. Currently I'm using a Logitech G Pro Superlight with G915 TKL keyboard but will be scooping up the Deathadder V3 Pro and Deathstalker V2 TKL to see how they compare.

    I love that shirt! Ive never used razor since I feel like it isnt for me, I do kinda like their mouses, the shape isnt really as good as lets say a Logitech g pro super light in my opinion(I got like basically same size hands as you, maybe a bit shorter, like an inch or half an inch) Razor is still very good with their mouses.

    Looks similar to the Mamba Wireless which was also a pretty good ergo shape and I snagged one at $80 when it was on sale. I'd like to compare it to the DAv3 when I get a chance as the Mamba Wireless is a bit heavy so it's relegated to mainly productivity usage in my rotation.

      @@badseedtech It looks like a welcomed change since I could never get used to the feel of the Deathadder since its inception even though the 1600 DPI sensor of the first model was pretty flawless. Maybe they'll keep the Mamba line as a midweight option where it has a spot to store the wireless receiver as well as having RGB.

    Can you set the hyperpolling dongle to a lower polling rate, thus saving battery life? Often I just play casual games but I do care for higher polling rates when I go and play competitively.

    I'll stay with the V2 first gaming mouse ever was a deathadder back in like 2009. Just got another v2 for $70. I'm glad they have the USBC charging, but it bugs me that I purchased the wireless charging dock for the v2. Plus I'm a student now so I'd honestly rather have Bluetooth than a dongle. Preferably both. This thing doesn't even hold its own dongle. Iunno. This is Kind of meh for me.

    That’s right, it’s not (headline). It’s missing the very important DPI buttons on the top of the mouse that far more people use than these companies realize.
