I have a black cardinal. I chopped it and now it has variegation. Nice red splashes throughout the green and it seems to be stable.
I absolutely LOVE the look of the Billietiae x Hercules hybrid. It's so gorgeous! I have a regular Billietiae (and I used to have an Atabapoense which have beautiful red back to the leaves as well) but I'm so interested in this hybrid cross.
My Dark Lord philodendron just put out the prettiest new leaf that is really dark. I have found it to be quite an easy grower for me and I have yet to try propagating it (I'm letting it grow more before I chop it). Hopefully Dark Lords propagate well!

I am obsessed with that sqaumiferm "blood" i bought a generic philo serpens a couple years ago and absolutely love the hairy petioles in contrast with the smooth shiny leaves. The darker form is way more amazing! Would take the spotlight in my otherwise fairly plain collection.

I have a black cardinal. I wish I hadn’t chopped and propped it 😅 The top cut accidentally dried out before I noticed there was a leak in the water container. I still have the bottom half, but I was looking at an old picture and it used to be such a majestic plant 🥲 I love plants with unusual leaf colors
My red cardinal just died today. It got mealy bugs like 2 months ago and the next area I moved it, burned the leaves and the leaves got reddish. Then Finally all the leaves fell off day by day🤦🏾♀️
I have a black cardinal that is tiny. It’s 8 months old and not growing so I moved it to pon. Hopefully it grows. I love dark house plants.

I grow philodendron "Majesty" indoors and out. Mature plants develop nice lobes. It is very easy. Philodendron " Imperial Red" is also very easy and more compact.
Love the red theme. El choco red is still on my wishlist.

I fell in love with the Philo Squamicaule when I saw it in your video last year! This January I bought one as my late christmas gift and I've been airlayering it with moss since then... While all my other plants have visible roots in their moss my Squami is just doing nothing... I thought maybe he was just slow. And now you are telling us they don't really form airial roots... Please upgrade us in case you find a good way of propigating it - I will keep the moss on and if it takes years for those roots!

Pertaining to the squamicaule blood - I honestly just grow them up a plastic backed moss pole... it's been really easy to cut and prop this way and I can just keep them in moss until the new owner picks them up or I just ship them in the moss 🤷♂️ 100% success rate

P. Caramel Marble insanity is still going on here (Czech Rep.) - precises are very high and still they sell immediately. I´d like to buy one for myself, but I´m waiting for this craze to somewhat calm down and prices becoming more reasonable. And if they don´t, I don´t need to have everything 🙂

I would love to but that Squami blood and Majesty. I have a lot of goth plants and Majesty/D. Lord/Royal Queen/Cardinal/Billie x Ata are my favs
My only theory on squamicaule, and I have the normal form and this has worked, is to let it crawl in a bed of media, preferably moss, and as soon as you start to see it shoot out, cut and put it in moss. I have had to do this 10x over the past year and now I have to give this 5hit away because I have so many cuttings.
It's not really a propogating method as your just cutting new shoots, but this is a method that seems to work.

Squamicaule in my experience needs to have established roots before propagating, never had one fail with air layering, but every single one without rotted away 😂

Maybe this has crossed your mind or comment section already, but... Could your mysterious dark boy be a hybrid between the brownii and some other? The leaf shape kind of reminds me of it. The other could be loads of things... The one you show here, magnificum, regale, andreanum black love or whatever andreanum was crossed with to get the black love...
Long story short 😂 brownii could perhaps be in the mix!
