I was a Skins fan from 1981-2019 up until they did that ridiculous rebrand so games like this one and others you post really mean something to me. I thank you and respect you because you are obviously a Eagles fan yet you are willing to post games they lost. Great stuff keep up the great work love your channel its a must follow IMO. Btw I don't think I've ever been so grateful of a Eagles fan in my life, lol.
Since that team is moving to Virginia, I think they should call themselves the Virginia "Whatevers". DC should have fought to preserve the Redskins, but because they failed to, they don't deserve a team.
Fun fact: due to scheduling quirks and the long layoff due to the strike, this game was the Redskins' first home game of 1982 - played on November 28th!
I remember the Sports Illustrated issue that week had I think Donny Warren on it and it said Look who's 4-0 .inside spread had a two page layout of Rigging running in the mud .
I remember that also ..I was in 7th grade and checked out sports illustrated from library and remember opening it up and seeing the 2 page picture it said in gooey going Riggins rushed for 52 yards.
This is what's known as "football weather." Grit your teeth, push off, smash some mouth in the running game. Don't be afraid to get dirty. So what do the Eagles do? Throw it 42 times. Wasn't why they lost, but it sure didn't help
This game was Thanksgiving weekend. We went to visit my grandparents in PA and the roads were icy and major backups on I-81 on way back to VA so listened to this on radio.
What a perfect paradigm match up of NFC East deliciousness in it's finest early 80'S, sir! Cute story, I live in Long Island NY. JUST before cable TV was universally in every room - at the time we had a TV or two with rabbit ears antennae in other rooms - cable TV in the main TV room. And on our rabbit ears antennae TV's weird enigmatic "channel 3" - with the right kind of weather - we could actually get Philadelphia Eagles games from YOUR CBS PA/NJ affiliate (our NY/LI CBS was on channel 2). And I remember this very game laying down in my parents bedroom - in that grade school bliss. Same with our channel 6 and New England NBC affiliates (our NY/LI NBC was channel 4) . I could many times get Patriots games in the early to mid 80s on the right kind of weather. And ironically, it was BETTER NFL Sunday afternoon access than we have to this day with all the bells and whistles - as well as those god awful NFL wretched blackout rules that force the Giants and Jets on us every week. Back then, we could actually get as many as 6 different games on any given Sunday - depending on NY-PA-NE affiliates on RABBIT EAR TVs. Crazy shit when I dwell on it.
Redskins offense was "The Fun Bunch", a high octane scoring machine. Watching the Eagles before the Buddy Ryan years (and excluding 1980 season) was PAINFUL!
1982 Eagles were really thrown off by the strike - started off pretty dynamically the first two weeks, but they were a different/worse team after the long break, for whatever reason. Then by '83 the core from the 1980 Super Bowl team was getting too old to be dominant anymore, even with Mike Quick emerging as one of the best WRs in the game.

I've watched quite a few old NFL games where Tom Brookshire was the color commentator for Pat Summerall. It's interesting to hear him do play-by-play since he started that sometime after John Madden joined Summerall.

I will remain a fan however a silent one...just as long as 'Damn Snyder 'has anything to do with the franchise
Redskins fan here 1975-2019....old replay games and hi lites are all we have left now. HTTR!!!
The Redskins will always be the Redskins, not these stupid names they have now
@@tomcollins5112 I wish they'd choose "Confederates" just to mess with the woke jackasses.
Wow this is my first time seeing this! Excellent footage. Great hearing Tom Brookshire and Wayne Walker too!

I believe it was Rich Milot tackling someone on the cover.

The 1982 Washington Redskins were powerful!
Even the uniforms were better back then.
Rip we lost Big DAVE BUTZS THIS YEAR GREAT DT
Great player and person.
This was a battle. Tough hard hitting game played at RFKs muddy field.
I miss muddy fields... when it was a mens league

16:10 Spagnola loses one life....
Strike year.. Washington wore the helmet with the curled feathers.
RIP Redskins. Snyder should be indicted for murder.

Brookshier and Summerall. As good as there has ever been.

The 1981 Eagles were a really tough team as well.
Jaworski had a cannon. He could spin it!

Old school NFC East.... Battle to to the end ...
