I have 4 DJI FPV now including this one that I got a couple weeks ago, it's a fun flyer. I have only been flying FPV since about April of this year and my kids got me the DJI goggles as a gift for my father's day and my birthday so I was "forced" to switch to digital. My analog are all collecting dust now.
Made the switch to DJI this year after losing hope that FatShark would release something as good. I’ve switched everything to DJI/CRSF now except my 1S quads and frankly I hardly fly them any longer simply because of the analog. My heavily modified P16 flies so well I don’t really miss them!
Nice review I love mine! I have just been flying on 3s 450mah still has plenty of punch! I have changed to the avan rush 2.5" props and found it to be smoother.
Great video and flying👍 This bird flies well! Great power on 4s and well maneuverable for smaller area flying. Geprc builds nice stuff!
I love this frame. I fly a build on 1103s on 3s with a 360 go, maybe twice a week.
This handles just as good if not better, I love the digital, this is a really nice quad.

Yes, please do a video on camera tilt mod. More tilt = more fun. Also would be interested on your thoughts on the Torque FPV Hornet HD 3" frame for the Caddx Vista. Hope you can get your hands on one of those!

Yes. Vista/dji pumps the price up $89-$120. Its hard to overcome that price when the budget doesn’t allow and we are already invested in analog.

I agree. This is one of the best DJI BNF micros I’ve seen, but it would be significantly better with 3” props and 1404 motors.

I love the look of digital fpv and I have tried it as well. However for my flying and enjoyment analog does "just fine" haha. But seriously the reason I don't go to dji is I like to build a fair amount of different quads and its just to expensive to invest in atm.
But hey I'm still having fun, everyone said I'd hate it after trying thier Dji set-up... Give me caddx ratel a good vtx and HD02 and its a beautiful image in a different way to digital.
yes, fun is fun, and yes DJI is expensive, almost expensive as another build.

@@NickBurnsFPV she might the fpv hoddy gods have taxed me pretty good in the last 3 months for instance. True story my family got me the tinyhawk 2 freestyle for my birthday on sep 30th I live in North western Montana at the foot hills of the rocks god country for sure I've had birds of pray fallow and watch my 1s and 2s micros a few times or more well me and my kids where out flying and my younger daughter says dad a big bird is fallowing you again 3 to 5 seconds latter my vtx went out I strip my goggles and turn on my buzzer and looked for 6 hours or so and looked the next day and one more day after that nothing I got to fly that one for like half of a pack so ya I didn't know if I should even say anything about it every one will probably think I'm full of it. No I got a good woman I'm pritty lucky in that department.
Ya I gess one for me and one for the birds maybe.

Hi Nick Great video and review of the GEPRC PHANTOM HD , I happen to like it, looks like a lot of fun and good cornering for a 2.5in , I prefer 3in but the biggest problem would be that the props are in view and if I had the DJI version I would not be happy. I would have to pass. Thanks again for the video and information
Yea some don’t want props in view. I kinda like it if the aren’t distracting. I prefer not to see the motors...that’s to much
I can verify it’s possible to wreck your FC by crashing upside down, it wasn’t easy to do but the vista knocked a couple components off the FC when it smacked into it. Night flying + tall buildings + concrete. FC and standoffs were the only casualties, top plate sprang right back into shape when I took the bolts out and the battery was ok-ish.
crash upside down on concrete from high up...dang. I guess it still cheaper than killing a go pro. I am a bit surprised the vista a camera survived, must be well built.

sure, for absolute performance weight is a major factor in micros. Just no way around it if we want digital fpv. ....for now. :)

I really think the DJI stuff is worth it for so many reasons, before I even took off on my 1st flight I was happy with my purchase (only a few weeks ago). I just started laughing going is this how good it is?!?! That was on 25mb, 50mb is even nicer.
I'm a lil surprised another company in China hasn't made/copied the hd stuff yet for cheaper, surely it can't be too much longer.
digital fpv is a much different experience. I suspect it hasn't been copied as DJI either makes the chips or has the company it does on a strict agreement, similar to the products from DJI most are familiar with.
Just a matter of time that fat shark may introduce a digital version I've seen some early experiments they done looks nice. I think dji will eventually release their own fpv quad may be game changer in the freestyle arena ( not racing) there is a leak photo! looks like a nice 4 inch ripper! imagine with Gps! Imagine if they do it were u can change motors , FC, camera, with no soldering may well be a game changer for sure, but surely higher price will be added for that comfort.

Did you have flyaways on 4s? theres a lot reports about that, im torn, i really like form factor of phantom and 4s over babyhawk 2 and smart35, they are a bit too big for me at least...
No I did not. Flyaways is a fairly non specific way to describe something. If we have the quad setup with our radio properly if the control link fails it should disarm and fall to the ground. Flyaways could also be described as uncontrollable accent. But in my case neither. I still have this one and fly it occasionally.
Could go with a naked Vista system and regular DJI camera, would weigh about the same as Nebula and non-naked Vista? Would the regular Vista camera fit in this, as I know the Nebula is smaller width? Could the stack accommodate a naked Vista or is FC stack in your opinion?
Unfortunately the dji camera is to wide. It would take a heavy mod to make it fit. I might go naked with it though

I will surely be less responsive, but flying more straight line it will be fine, you might find the flight time does increase but I wouldn't expect it to be by a factor of x mah.

They sent mine with bi blade props which are unusable(found out the hard way), the wrong battery pad, and the camera mounted upside down. Looks like they sent the accessories for the analog frsky version

What control and headset do you use for this drone? I have it and well I’m a beginner.
Black and grey dji goggles that look like antman and the black square dji radio. But we can order with other receivers and use other radios. The black dji goggles are required for the hd version

I have mounted an instago360 2 with a tpu mount. I'm getting alot of jello. I have used the same camera on my cinepro without and jello. I also love the way this quad flies but don't like to rely on Google DVR. . I changed to pid profile 2 because I had flyaways with a 4s battery. No matter what battery or profile I'm still getting jello. I'm running new props. The motors look and feel fine. Any ideas would be appreciated!!
Is yours the hd version? And you have jello in the fpv camera or insta camera or both. I think the new insta camera will have a new firmware coming soon to handle the vibrations better. If the fpv camera has jello, check to make sure the motors aren’t bent and the carbon arms are solid. After that we have to work on the pids. I can send you what came on mine via email. I don't have the v2 goggles, but they will work as well. And Yes the black dji radio, big and square.

Nick, did you have flyaways on 4s, I just got one and been flying on 3s because of the flyaway I have been hearing about running 4s, how did you fix the runaway situation...?
I have not had fly aways, its likely due to the pid tune, there is another pid profile for 4s. I think its profile 2, or if your using profile 2 to fly 3s then it might be 3 or 1. Sorry I can't remember for certain.

Nick, I have catalyst machine works, 3 inch banggod HD, 3 inch more massive droner HD, and 2 5 inch merica HD all catalyst. Looking for 2.5 cruiser, ripper, would you go with this phantom or maybe the 3 inch beetle HD.
It’s a tough call, you have one of each. In my case a feel a little more “micro” on a 2.5 than 3 inch. Maybe it’s the sound or just knowing it’s smaller
I can say 100% stay away from the 3” beetle, the arm is cut down to almost nothing at the motor mounts and even a small crash is too much for them. If you look at the images of the 3” version on their site you’ll see what I mean. I broke 2 and gave up on that particular frame. It’s a shame because otherwise it would be my favourite micro.
For what it’s worth I’ve come to like the iFlight Titan HD3 frame, camera protection is a bit lacking but otherwise nicely laid out and tough 3” that rips on 4S 650 and cruises along for ~7 mins on 4S 1100. If you go that route 1404 5000kv and the HQ 3*2.5*3 props are a fantastic match.
How did you put the strap? Doesn't fit. Did you open the quad?

@@eightone5336 It will depend on the crashing and what we are crashing into. Concrete is so unforgiving. I haven't broken many motors over the years.

no real idea. My guess would be about 50mph

It can, mounting it will be a challenge if we chose to keep the battery on top. It won't fly as long with the same size of battery due to the extra weight, and it changes how it handles as well, but it can carry it.
have you ever got one stuck on the roof?
Thank goodness no. I have gotten a few stuck in trees, but not terrible high up. I was able to throw a ball at it and get it down.

Closer to 3min. There is 17seconds of arm time not in the video. This is also my shortest flight over the last week. Nearly a worst case scenario for flight time

The extra weight on the end of the arm worries me. As the breakage reports I have from others are arms breaking.

My esc just 20A, would you recomended others frames? I thinks about 3inch apex, but seems my 20A esc cannot match for the props size?
