Right on Andy. Exactly my thoughts the first time I flew mine in 2S 450 packs. I was immediately impressed. I hear a lot of whiners on the forums and social media sites about weight how this type of quad is a waste of money..... when these folks don't even own, nor have flown this model. Well it s great in my book and those other folks blinded by ignorance and inexperience will just need to live life without all the fun this one provides. Cheers my friend.
You are the best LOS pilot Ive seen on YT (aside from what Minchan Kim can do with a collective pitch heli). I've been flying for a few years and have never seen an FPV drone fly in person. I'm always somewhat jealous when people spectate my flights. I live in rural Oregon where nobody in my area flies FPV.
i always prefered top mounted mainly because i break more batteries with bottom mount...and to those people who say batteries are cheap....id rather not waste my money and intentionally break my batteries...its very interesting how geprc is always on the bullseye when it comes to keeping up with trends. Gotta give them props for this great product.
For anyone coming along in the future, the Avan rush 2.5" props completely transform this thing. Much more locked in and barely any loss in flight time on a 450mah 2s (approx 5 minutes) Also much much quieter.
I bought one of these quads, Flew it three times with the bi-blades, Then Instantly put on some Gemfan 2540 tri-blades. Such an amazing quiet flyer. So much more performance on 2540 blades. Really like GepRc products.
@@OscarTRob I was always curious about those blades. Going to add some to my prop collection. Wonder if you ever figured out how to set osd with gesture commands. I own this, but the two problems I have with it are the camera angle is severely limited. The second thing is where do you buy spare frame parts or frames? Can't find any. Any ideas @AndyRC?
camera angle suits me so i guess thats a personal preference. its a freestly model rather than a race frame so its not unusual to have a 30-40 deg limit although id say its pushing 50 at full uptilt on mine, perhaps you need to losen the screws some more? as for the frame its called the GEPRC GEP-PT and you can get it here bit.ly/2T80MfG
great job geprc guys, this looks like a real winner, stick a caddx tarsier on this and it ticks all the boxes, even the price looks amazing. as always great review andy, hope you get the time to push this little quad to its max potential with batteries and an hd cam of some kind.
Caddx Tarsier might be pushing it, but RunCam Split Nano will fit without any mods, you will just need to tape the board to top plate. Maybe move VTX to to back above RX. You'll still be a bit over the recommended AUW for 1103 on 65mm props but it should still fly pretty well.
@@FilipRadelic yeah youre probably right, it would be so cool to have a 4k toothpick though, i keep mistaking performance for load carrying ability and they arent the same.
Excellent review. Since I have been watching your reviews on these micros I have learned what to watch/listen for. Don't have your experience but the knowledge you spread is very helpful. Thanks AndyRC 👍💖🤓
i made one myself the front end is switched around, with the standoffs behind the cameraplates the cameraplates extend forwards to protect the runcam nano 2 the stack in the geprc looks like a rebrand of the succex 16x16 stack i didn't have much luck with the vtx in it it overheats very quickly, after 2 min sitting there it showed 73°C the antenna popped off once in a light crash and after just a minute, the vtx burned out this is most likely due to poor soldering, there are many gas bubbles under the RTC[some numbers] chip, this can be seen under an x-ray i have replaced that with a unify pro hv, which is overkill [it no longer overheats at all], i recommend the eachine nano vtx, which is currently still in preorder, that one goes to 400mW if you want to build one yourself, get the succex stack without the vtx, or even better, the upcoming diatone 16x16 stack the diatone has the pins converted to pads, so you can connect your own vtx more easily i think i'll upload a video of my frame soon
its not a rebrand of the sucexx stack geprc have always made their own hardware which is why geprc were the first to have their dual f7. Regardless a 16/16 vtx is far too small to have built in thermal protection and most of the larger ones claiming to have it will also burn. Iv got 5 dead unifys that are suppose to have thermal protection... As for the overheating. Thats what pit mode is for. vtx's do get hot and you need to secure down the micro UFL with a heat restrictive adhesive called Kafuter. Its the same material used on the XM plus bit.ly/2MyxgON. . 400mw might sound impressive but RF power is not linear. 200mw in dbm is not that much less than 400mw its a trick vtx manufacturers use to make you think its double the power but if you work with DBM you will realize u are getting duped. either way best of luck with your build.
Thanks Andy, think I may pick this up unless you can recommend anything better? I'm out of the loop, haven't flown or looked at quads in a few years now. Hope you're doing well!
Hey Andy, awesome video as usual. Well you sold me on this one for sure, if you don’t mind answering a question for me please, what size shrink tubing did you use for the VTX antenna? Thanks much.

Good review Andy, ugly day to fly mate, sorry. lol Love the GEPRC. Another winner, in a row, from a company that listens to the right folks (wink, wink) and takes that ssoooo valuable information and produces a quad that WILL perform , out of the box, the way it shoud. Great build quality on all the models. Thanks, Jeff
So.. Since this video has anything hit the market that is better than this? also HD video? any flavours of this with HD? I want to go exclusively sub 250 and this class is looking promising.
Yes, it's my preferred battery for this quad. The gnb 3s 300mah lipos weigh the same as gnb 2s 450mah. More punch, no vibes, the only problem is a limit to the camera tilt because of the cam wires hitting the bottom plate.
Good Friend I've seen your channel for a long time and I've never seen such sincerity talking about drones ... Well, I learned a lot from you, congratulations on the excellent work👌👍👌
Really like this review and the quad. I am a beginner, have built a really crappy 5" build (on a QAV210-like frame) and an Avant X3 Evo 3" build. The 3" is much more friendly for me, I tend to run 2 practice runs on the 3" (on 3S 850) and then switch to the 5" on 4S 1,3 packs. I really like the idea of having a small and light (!) quad, that flies like the big ones (good range for RX and FPV signal), but if I might crash it the consequences are much milder. Like not breaking everything on the frame and destroying components. I would probably consider this quad alongside with the GNB 2S 300 mAh batteries. I reckon that this will be a great way to learn flying without destroying the 5" totally due to some noob mistake.
A friend of mine just bought one and I hepled him set it up. I noticed that it came with stock bf pids. Even though it still flies pretty good, did you adj the pids at all or did u just leave it on stock pids ? Thx.
Very cool informative video Andy. After I have had hours in the sky due to being a newbie pilot I may get a small racing quad. By way, advice. If I happen to scratch or very slightly chip any of my H501 Advanced propellers due to landing in the grass or ticker grass, can I get a bit of wet and dry sandpaper to smooth off edges a bit, or do I need to always put fresh blades on?
Thanks for this Andy! It looks like I’m going to pick one of these up! Just a couple of questions, would you recommend a top mount toothpick more than this one? Also, could you please test the hq 65mm tri blades out on this guy? Wondering if they’re too much for these 1103’s! And, is the stack connected via cables or pins? Thanks for everything!
Same here. Hearing the Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle may have some reliability issues (high fail rate after three months), I wonder if this would be a good pick even today (and does it still ship with that ancient Betaflight version we see in the video? :))
How come you landed at 300mah used? The lipo you provide a link to has 300mah capacity? Was it a larger battery? I thought it was good practice to land at ~80% of the battery's capacity i.e. 240mah
Thanks for the review AndyRC. Always providing good info. I am looking very hard at this quad. I'm not sure if I want a top battery mount. So far I have had bottom mounts. I am also considering the Diatone GTB229 Pro, and the SPC Killer Whale. I basically want to be in 2s-32 range in a micro but definitely would like 200mw. I do know the Killer Whale has a 100mw VTX and I might can settle for that. I would definitely consider anything you would recommend, so please do. Thanks again and keep it in the air bro!
Great review as always Andy. Quick question. My much loved Babyhawk R 2 inch died on me today. I am after a replacement 3S micro quad to take its place, and maybe extend flight time a little. Would you recommend the phantom and is a Tattu 3s 450 too much weight? I have a US65 1s, Trashcan for 2S and a GEPRC Cygnet CX2 for 4S.
I totally agree with you about the motors and this class running 3s. 3s is such overkill when 2s is the sweetspot. I run the 1102 10000kv on 1s and have loads of fun in smaller areas. I had already calculated 1103 8000kv on 2s will be a sweet spot for some good ripping 😎
Is the quality of components similar to the quality of components on emax tinyhawk freestyle? Which is better from your perspective this or th freestyle?
Hey Andy, because of your review i bought the copter and never regeted it. Now I switched to DJI. What do you think about the HD version? You think its also as good? Thanks in advance.
Little question, shall i buy 4x2 2s Alienmodel LiPo’s or shall i buy 3x2 3s LiPo’s, is there actually that much difference between 2 and 3s, and yes the HD version is good!
Great video! By the way, is there any point to building tiny whoop style models for indoor flying nowadays, or is it inconvenient to get the individual components and better to buy a model?
Has anyone had good luck with the Set VTX low power Betaflight command on this drone? Mine has strange effect with video roll and vertical lines after setting it to the ON command.
I have the beta85 pro2 witch is about 40g w/o its 2s battery Even tho it has whoop ducts its super light and durable. Are 3s micros much faster than a 2s like this? Something like a larva x?
I have the micro in this video, and lemme tell ya its fats on 3s, I'd say hitten close to 70mph. Also if you do want a micro, the geprc phantom is probably your best bet. The larva x is ok, but people definitely have been getting problems with it
I know its been a while.... But would like to see a Final AndyRC Tune on this thing running 4.1 RPM 48k =), Ive made a couple tunes but im not a tuner. Curious what you would come up with. I know your THF tune was on point.
Your Geprc is totally awesome ..In order to complete my Sailfly build, what motors and flight controller do you recommend...thank you Andy for sharing!
I love to see your reviews I am a follower of you, I am starting this hobby drone race, is this the most appropriate? I have the Tyro 99 and the larva x HD am I thinking of buying the one that tells me? 🤔👍😉👍

i didn't have much luck with the vtx in it
it overheats very quickly, after 2 min sitting there it showed 73°C
the antenna popped off once in a light crash and after just a minute, the vtx burned out

Andyrc how did you get the RSSI to work on the the osd...
I turned my on but is stays at 49 and never changes value.
Now I want one. Checked out BG though and it seems the coupon code you linked is expired. Would you happen to have another one?
Any chance of installing a Caddx Baby Turtle or Runcam split 3 nano?
Does it makes sense to buy this in 2020 or better wait for the Vista version, as with everything else? Lol.
MindRider same question here
Same here. Hearing the Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle may have some reliability issues (high fail rate after three months), I wonder if this would be a good pick even today (and does it still ship with that ancient Betaflight version we see in the video? :))
hi andy some times when i arm my quad i get a badrx on my screen what does it mean?
Standing too close to the quad
That RSSI is amazing!
How come you landed at 300mah used? The lipo you provide a link to has 300mah capacity? Was it a larger battery? I thought it was good practice to land at ~80% of the battery's capacity i.e. 240mah
It is a good practice but 2s batteries are so cheap people are more willing to abuse them.
Do you still fly the Meteor?
i really like that im really into the toothpicks right now ill be adding one of these
Thanks Andy
Great video! It seems that the coupon code is not longer valid. Any chance you have another from GEPRC?
Awsome videos, what flysky receivers would you recommend for this quad and which flysky receiver would you use?
If Andy says it's good... I'm gonna get it!
Hi, i bought this toothpick and i reset the setting by mistake, where can i get the standard setting for this quad ?
Hi Martin, I did the same, did you have any luck finding it?
I totally agree with you about the motors and this class running 3s. 3s is such overkill when 2s is the sweetspot. I run the 1102 10000kv on 1s and have loads of fun in smaller areas. I had already calculated 1103 8000kv on 2s will be a sweet spot for some good ripping 😎
I just got my GEPRC Phantom and I am trying to figure out how to change the vtx power to 100 or 200mw?
Is the quality of components similar to the quality of components on emax tinyhawk freestyle? Which is better from your perspective this or th freestyle?
Hello Andy. I have a geprc phantom otw pnp version. I was wondering what channel do I set up the rssi? Thanks
Aux 12?
it's in the vid and that channel is working for RSSI
Hey Andy, because of your review i bought the copter and never regeted it. Now I switched to DJI. What do you think about the HD version? You think its also as good? Thanks in advance.
Little question, shall i buy 4x2 2s Alienmodel LiPo’s or shall i buy 3x2 3s LiPo’s, is there actually that much difference between 2 and 3s, and yes the HD version is good!
Would this be able to carry a Full Hd camera? like a runcam split.
Too heavy. Any extra weight is too much.
Is it supposed to run on a 3s? Or is their website wrong?
Great video! By the way, is there any point to building tiny whoop style models for indoor flying nowadays, or is it inconvenient to get the individual components and better to buy a model?
Is there an onboard DVR you recommend to add to this?
Has anyone had good luck with the Set VTX low power Betaflight command on this drone?
Mine has strange effect with video roll and vertical lines after setting it to the ON command.
Hmmm, GepRC Phantom or Diatone GTB 339/229? The GepRC and GTB 229 are in stock for pick-up at my LHS but the 339 sadly isn't.
The larva x is ok, but people definitely have been getting problems with it
Good job Andy, i might just buy one after this !
Great vid. Bought one! How should I set the warning voltage with the gnb 300mah?
3.5v per cell
Hey Andy. Yet another great review!
You think it's possible to add a hd camera?
We will have to see what these micro split cams are like
I love these videos. Im a big fan of GEPRC as well dude!
I know its been a while.... But would like to see a Final AndyRC Tune on this thing running 4.1 RPM 48k =), Ive made a couple tunes but im not a tuner. Curious what you would come up with. I know your THF tune was on point.
What pids are you using? my Motors are getting super hot and every time I yaw the Drone flips out
Can this run on a 2s 400mah battery. My country literally doesn't have 3s unless it's like 1500mah or 800mah..
great review. should have one within 10 days so can not wait.
Little question, shall i buy 4x2 2s Alienmodel LiPo’s or shall i buy 3x2 3s LiPo’s, is there actually that much difference between 2 and 3s,
Hi Andy, thanks for another great review. How did you activate the RSSI?
Your Geprc is totally awesome ..In order to complete my Sailfly build, what motors and flight controller do you recommend...thank you Andy for sharing!
the crazybee boards cant seem to handle any more than an 1102 motor. I beleive if you were to stick an 1103 on there it would blow the board
Andy, do you have any documentation on the flightstack? I cannot find anything. And GepRc is not answering. It is NOT the iflight stack btw.
I love to see your reviews I am a follower of you, I am starting this hobby drone race, is this the most appropriate? I have the Tyro 99 and the larva x HD am I thinking of buying the one that tells me?
🤔👍😉👍
