- Checking out the rc4wd line of tires for the scx24. 1.0 tires are a bit hard to come by sometimes. What is best for your build?
My favorite rc4wd tires in order are below. They sort of vary depending on what size I’m really looking for on a certain build.
1. Mudslingers (large tire but killer grip) found here

Rok Lox are just too small for me. Never really been able to use them on any of my builds.

Great info to have for my own Deadbolt, currently running rock lizards with no foams on standard wheels with brass weights and they work very well. Always looking for the most grip possible though and this saves me a load of cash trying some out, so thanks for that. The patagonias are looking pretty sweet right now. Awesome content ❤️

@@2fmrc got my C10 I love it, it's a awesome Little rig, I've done the HR brass knuckles, Front dift cover. Aluminum bead lock rims , they got wait to them , RC4wd Rock locks, with crawler innovations foam, soft all 4. Performing pretty good, also lit lEDs, headlight, rollbar lights and taillights, looks awesome lit up, Love my night runs . I also have on the way from Bang RC gear,
Enter fender Wells with rock lights. And rock sliders. Then she will be done, I did get the E Max steering servo. Haven't installed yet . Waiting on the servo Mount HR. Then it'll be all done.

Have you vented any of your beadlocks or tires themselves? I have a few sets vented for dry runs.
Doug Hendrickson I really appreciate everyone who watches a single second so I don’t mind putting in the work at all. I normally don’t vent any of my tires because I usually go through or over whatever I come to so I have a hard time staying dry most runs lol. These smaller tires I could probably vent just because I’m mostly indoor. I always vent my race tires etc but have a couple sets that have completely filled up with sand and dust on me from my outdoor track lol

I’m running the scramblers with the Rc4wd breaker beadlocks with no foams in the rear, chopped up c10 with upgraded servo and motor, a few suspension mods, 4mm brass wheel spacers and other weighted parts and this thing is an absolute crawling machine!
Are the scramblers stiffer than stock c10 tires?
Crack3drc With foams yes they are, the scramblers in my opinion are however a little more grippy. But the scramblers without the foam melt like butter over a hot rock.

We run Scramblers on majority of our 1/24 rigs & love 'em. We don't use their supplied foam. We use a foam which is used for copper pipe insulation; we cut to a custom width, sizing it to the full width of our wheel rim; our chosen wheel rims are the beadlock wheels found on the HBX 2098B 1/24 Devastator.
Really like the RC4WD Thornbird tyre 👍

Drew cut his foam a bit wider than his wheel rim's width and used a two stage foam technique; I used only a single foam technique and cut foam 2b same width size as my wheel rim.

Rewatching this as I'm looking for new tires yet again, it's becoming expensive. Then I remembered you had done all the costly bits for us, so once again, thanks for the efforts. Not least because my beadlocks are stamped steel and are absolute effing pigs to assemble and I only want to reassemble one more time. I have rock creepers on just now, they're a little small on O. D. but man they stick like shit to a blanket. Only tall tires I can lay my hands on are the RC4wd scramblers
Between this video, and the one you did showcasing the thornbird tire helped me make up my mind on which ones I wanted to try on my 3d printed truck. Great comparison!
Crack3drc awesome! I didn’t feel like I had much info to offer honestly but hopefully it helps a little. I think I’m going to like the Thornbirds but haven’t had much time with them yet.
@@2fmrc just watching how they perform gave me a base.i tried those rgt ones from banggood before I even realized how small they were... They are good, just tiny. So watching your trucks and how they perform with different setups helps me allot! I've built many trucks, but 1/24 is new to me. I'm having a blast with these little crawlers!
Crack3drc nothing quite like these 1/24s! I know this winter I’ll be expanding like crazy to my course I’m sure. When it’s too cold and nasty to get out these little guys are always ready to rock! I’m planning to do more with each set of tires hopefully. I just have so much planned at the moment I can’t get to it all lol. I’m really glad it helped out some. Like you said those RGT tires are good but just too small for my taste.

I'm from cincinnati, I'm hoping to find competitions close enough to me so I can go check those out and get more ideas. Cant wait to see what you come up with to add to that course.

Washing the tires with Simple Green will make the tire sticker & takes the mold release off. Can’t say that it will soften the tire but you can tell the difference. That was one of the best tire comparisons I have seen. I thought that the Nittos were better on my C10 but they are on steel wheels so not a good comparison really. Now I want to mount the stock C10 tires on the steel wheels. Maybe I need to order another set of steel wheels.🤔 Yea that’s the ticket.

Awesome! Really appreciate you checking it out and commenting. They’ve came out with a few new sets since I made this video. The mudslingers are the best big tire imo. They are wicked! Then there are a few others that are a bit smaller but still 1.0s that I haven’t tried yet. Once there is some stock again I may give them a try. Glad this maybe helped a bit!

@@slidingsidewaysrc91376 haha! I appreciate that! I’m running the rc4wd tsl bogger or super swampers on one of my C10s and the rc4wd rock creepers on the other. Both perform about the same honestly. I really haven’t been able to decide which I prefer. I like the size of them for the c10 though because they don’t require a ton of body trimming. I didn’t wanna hack my c10s all up because I wasn’t using them for flex monsters lol. I have other rigs for that

Great Video....Thanks for putting in the time and effort! I always wondered how much the different diameter of the tires would affect the performance and what I saw, it was not a huge difference. Have you considered or tried the Crawler Innovations foams?

Hey love the videos. This one helps with tire options for sure. Have you had a chance to try the MT Baja claws? I want a set of thornbirds, but finding any in stock is a problem.
Tech tip from racing rubber tire dirt oval I would take a rag spray pb blaster and wipe it on the treads. Then leave them over night in a ziplock .... The next day they are brand new rubber if you repeat it gets softer
Yeah I do that with wd40 usually just cause I get it free lol. Then slap the tire sauce to them at the track!

@@nolan_ryann8083 the size to look for is 1.0, that's the inner diameter size, most tires will differ in height and even width, but 1.0 is what you'll want to search for.
What rims are the thorn birds on? Love that bead lock look.
The rok loks on my C10 aren't bad but my only other wheels are stock so... I have the rc4wd stamped steel beadlocks and hot racing brass hex fittings and it crawls places I couldn't with stock tires. Though, I really want a set of those thornburgs
Turncoat Tony yeah the rok lox are just really small for me. The Thornbirds are awesome looking and actually seem to perform really well. I wish they were a bit bigger as well tho. They will be great on one of my C10s or something.

Tried WD40 in WPL tires - they did not good, tires lost shape. Won't do this again and for sure not try this on expensive RC4WD tires.
donaldsneffe lol I do my 1/10 tires on my crawlers usually once before I run them. Then they stay so dirty I don’t even bother lol. It’s great for the track!
@RC CRAWL No. The soft WPL tires (there are hard, medium and soft compounds) are at least equal. I do have 3 types of RC4WD tires, and none of them is better than soft WPL.
@RC CRAWL Probably you never had the real soft WPL tires but only the medium ones... - why do you call them trash tires? They are for a totally different size of truck, there are no RC4WD tires in this size. WPL tires are no competitors for RC4WD tires in anyway.

Did you ever get more time with the thornbird tires? Thinking of getting them for my k5. They seem a bit smaller than the injoras so im not completly sold on them. I like the looks of the bigger tires injoras seem to run big

Did you have any problems mounting the Patagonia's on a bead lock rim ? I read a review on Ebay and the guy said " NOT FOR BEAD LOCK " I'm wanting to buy a set for my grandson, I just bought him these green split rim bead locks from Amazon. The wheels are sick lol . And I just want the tires to fit the new rims .
Just dropping this here for everyone.
The losi mini sumo crawler wheels and tires also fit the scx24.. if you can find them used do so. Tires are vary grippy and soft. And the rims are beadlock style with weights. Good and cheap alternative.

I didn’t understand why you pulled you wheel weights though... if they were all already weighted, and most folks are gonna weight the wheels anyways, why not just leave them in? I feel your pain though. I could never get my first set of weights out of my stock Jeep wheels!
I appreciate it! I need to update it now that the mudslingers are out and a few others. I really like the bfgoodrich km3s and the mudslingers are the best period if you can fit them. I didn’t have weights in all of them so figured I’d just go with a base test. Some of the wheels like the rage beadlocks won’t fit the wheel weights so I run the mil stone style weights etc so I figured it would be better to test them all minus their weights.

I have the scx24 Chevy C10. Did you need do cut the body shell to use the Mickey thompson baja claw tires on the Chevy? My question is because the stock tires have 50mm and the Mickey thompson have 56mm
Yeah more than likely you’ll want to. Lots of body rub even on stock tires
Hello, thank you so much for your extremely helpful and entertaining videos! Question for you: I recently ordered an SCX24 along with a set of the RC4WD Patagonia tires. I am planning to get a set of RC4WD Stamped Steel 1.0 Stock Beadlock Wheels, as I believe those are about the cheapest RC4WD wheels that will fit the tires. My understanding is I cannot run wheel weights with those, correct? In lieu of wheel weights, what would you recommend to add weight/lower my COG? Would you recommend the Hot Racing - Brass Front Steering Knuckle, Axial SCX24 - SXTF21H?

I have some on my SCX 24 and I really like them but the only complaint is the same with most aftermarket tires,and that is that they are small. The stock tires are taller wich helps getting over obstacle's. But don't have the grip I would like.

If not would you recommend a stock offset wheel and weight tire set up to get me started. Would like to order all at the same time. I Can't find those tires yet online.
Yes the Patagonia’s will fit a stock wheel. You’ll have to remove the stock tires or order a set of stock wheels alone. All of the wheels and tires I ordered from rc4wd website but almost everything is out of stock and hard to find for these things atm. I sometimes get stuff from eBay as well but people like to jack the price up on eBay. The hot racing aluminum steering links have been out of stock for a good month or so. There are some stronger/better plastic steering links on shapeways.com if you search scx24 you’ll find a bunch of stuff and should see the links as well. It’s really hard to link any of this stuff at the moment because it’s seriously all backordered. It’s driving me insane!

Also this wheel wieght thing is new to me , how do they work , just fit inside the wheel and right on to the hex ?
They just fit tight inside the wheel. They don’t attach to anything.

How do you change tires from brand to brand , are you putting tires on stock wheels or changing wheels and tires , Wich brings up my question ,,, how do you mix n match hexs and wierd deal on axial , n pand , do you have some kind of adapters ? And where do you get them
They all run the same hex size so they are interchangeable. As long as the tires are 1.0 based then they’ll also swap from wheel to wheel.
Which is the bestsite to order tires?
The c10 tires are ok weighted I have the full send hexes and wheel weights in the front and it does better but havent tried wd40 or cutting lugs
Since this post, I believe you got a pair of Mudslingers. How do they compare to the Patagonia's in this video. I think in another video you mentioned you run a softer foam from boggers, is that correct?
Yeah the mudslingers are my favorite tire. If you can fit them. Patagonia’s are great as well at just a bit smaller size. I prefer Patagonia’s on like my Jeep etc.
Great video! I was wanting to see the wranglers preform. But didn’t see them in video. The tires before the scramblers are bf Goodrich Krawlers. What’s your thoughts of the wranglers?
They are the second tires I try. Just after the stock. They are mounted on the silver looking rc4wd stamped steel wheels. They do really well most of the time. I like the Patagonia’s a little better on my course but the wranglers are no slouch at all.

I'm currently using the rok lox on my k10 ( c10 ) and I think theye look way to small on my truck and I'm thinking about ordering a larger tire to fill my wheels wells do you think the MT baja claws will do the trick?
I feel like they would fit much better. They are around the same size as the boggers (slightly bigger) that I run on my gray C10 and I feel like those fit the c10 great. The rok lox are 48mm outer diameter and the MTs are 51mm so they should be a decent amount larger. I’m gonna have to pick up a set of the MTs soon to test!

Welcome to the scx24! You’re gonna love it! Those are the rc4wd competition beadlock wheel. They mount straight to the pin on the axle without a hex. Really good wheel but sort of an odd mounting system. These are all 1.0 wheels and tires. Thanks so much for checking out the channel! Let me know if I can help with anything else.

can you run these tires like the thornbirds on the stock c10 wheels? Are the stock tires glued on?
Yeah the stock tires are glued. There are methods to remove them but for the price of new stock wheels it’s not really worth it imo. You can get a set of stock wheels for less than $10 if you wanted to glue new tires. I prefer the beadlocks just so I can swap tires around when I want.
What tire as a whole have you liked outside the best in non wet, decent to good traction type areas? I’m wanting more clearance, so Patagonia is one I’m considering. Thoughts?
Patagonia’s are definitely my favorite tire on anything but slick and super loose surfaces. They are great on the rock for me!

Thanks! Those wheels are the rc4wd competition beadlock. They are fairly expensive but I love the looks of them! The only thing I’m not a huge fan of is they don’t mount to a hex. They mount directly to the pin in the axle.
@@2fmrc oh... that's different. what is it you don't like about them not mountaing with a hex?
@@DustinWoloschukI just liked having the hex because sometimes I run the brass hex. Sometimes it’s a little harder to get them on the pin than it is the hex. Not really too bad but it’s just odd they went that way with them when all of their other wheels mount to the hex. They work fine though.

I would say they should mount up fine. You will wanna use some tire glue but I would think you could make them work. I always just get beadlocks in case I wanna change tires later. I don’t have to buy new wheels every time. I haven’t tried them on the stock wheels so I can’t say for sure though

@@bburt1623 I’m sure they’ll work just fine. Even if the bead is a tiny bit big on the stock wheels you can probably make up for it with a little tire glue lol. You’ll love the creepers!
The next time you are trying to remove the wheel weights try putting them in the freezer. The brass should shrink more than the steel and that should make it easier to remove.

What tires you highly recommend for a scx 24 jeep rubicon pls help a im tired of chosing tires
I really like the Patagonia’s on my Jeep. They are a good size for it and have the look that I wanted for my Jeep. They seem to do really well indoor and outdoor so imo they are a great choice. The wranglers are also very good and about the same size. I don’t think I would want any of the smaller tires on my Jeep but that’s just personal preference really. The new mudslingers are probably the best tire imo but they are also huge! I don’t think I would want that big of a tire on my Jeep.
I'm going to ask you this because you seem to know alot about these scx24s i bought one and i got to run one battery through it and the motor quit. now did i just get a lemon or are thay all like that?
You got a lemon for sure. The stock motor isn’t great but I’ve ran several of them for 25-50 runs I’d say before replacing them and that was just because I wanted to upgrade. I have only killed one and it was ran for a very long time. Where did you buy it? Usually they’ll replace it fairly easily. Contact axial or horizon or whoever you got it from for sure! Sorry to hear that it died so soon. They really are a blast MOST of the time lol
So the wrangler tire is slightly taller than the Patagonia? Them scrambler tires look bigger than I was expecting. I wanted to put them on my c10 since I put the kinetic double barrel shocks and they give it a pretty decent lift. I'm currently using the stiffer springs that came with them. I'm just not sure about the the Fitment
You’ll definitely need to do a lot of cutting with the scramblers or the mudslingers on a C10

Yes they will and if you can’t get mudslingers then I would recommend them. They are some really good tires overall.
Have you tried soaking any hard tires you have with WD-40? Few hours in that it softens the rubber, also expands them so make sure the tyres are already glued to wheel before soaking them!
Yeah I do my 1/10 tires sometimes. I tried it on some of the stock scx24 tires but only once. It may have helped a bit. Probably would’ve been better if I had soaked them a few times.
I did it by accident trying to loosen the tire glue on my barrage 24, didn't mean to leave them in over night 🤫 .didn't effect the tyre glue at all.. the tyres performed way better tho
So which one do you run on the c10 now?
In 2024 What would be some of the best tire choices for grip, especially smooth surfaces like rocks? Any really soft, sticky compounds that stand out? Im looking for an average size, not a larger tire. I'm new to crawling and i'm trying to get the best tire on the first try without having to switch to something else later.
Jconcepts ruptures & megalithics are great. I really like the Injora 64mm s5 compound tires. Proline trenchers & dj crawler 68mm are good also. So many good tires now!

I’m so sorry I missed this comment until now. UA-cam is really starting to hide them from me and I try to keep up but miss some. I would recommend checking out my video that I did on my Jeep setup. It don’t have a ton of mods and is an amazing little crawler. Definitely wheels and tires with some weights and a servo to start with. Shocks and steering links next in my opinion. Then you can dial it in from there with a little brass weight here or there if you want. That’s really about all the Jeep needs. I love the cr24 shocks on my Jeep and wouldn’t change them for anything at the moment. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else. Again, so sorry I missed the comment.

The Baja claws are one of the only 2 tires from them I haven’t ran lol. I just never have ran them. They are so close to the boggers and I’ve always had a couple sets of those so I never bothered getting any. I LOVE the Patagonia’s honestly. Perfect size for most rigs and great grip indoor and outdoor usually. Boggers are also great outdoors. Just a tad smaller than Patagonia’s

Any experience with the RC4WD KM3s?
Looking at the RC4WD comp beadlocks or the rage beadlocks for a set of Scramblers. Do both hold them good or does one work better then the other? I have Treal beadlocks and the Scramblers come off the bead.
I’ve had a couple issues with my rage wheels losing the bead on the scramblers also. Not sure if it’s the scramblers or the wheels lol. I haven’t had an issue with my comps losing the bead but I haven’t had scramblers on the either.

Can you mount the thorn birds to the stock wheels?
Should be able to. Just have to glue them. Sometimes the rc4wd tires fit a little loose on the stock wheels but usually you can make them work just depends on the precision of the tires honestly. I definitely prefer beadlocks for them.

Small tires with flipped dish stamped steel wheels give away do much diff clearance the are almost worthless on rugged terrain. It was painful to watch it struggle. Lol

I really just wanted to show one climb with each and hopefully it helped out. When I do a tire test, it is head to head with only two sets. The video would get very long. You took on a huge task presenting so many at once and kept it pretty concise. Credit given. 👍

Not really. If you could get the stock tires off of the wheels clean enough to reuse you could I guess. It’s usually hard to get them off though. Honestly the stock tires are so hard that they really don’t even need foam.

Those are the rc4wd stamped steel wheels with the hex flipped. It widens them and gives them the deep dish look

Yep I vent all of them now. Lots of better compounds and tires available now. Plus we have Flubberstufferz which work great with vented tires. Most of these Rc4wd tires have been left in the dust now with all of the new compounds we have.
What are the white wheels on the c10. those deep wheels look great.
Those are the rc4wd stamped steel wheels with the hex flipped. You just mount the hex to the outside of the wheel instead of the inside and it gives them the wider stance and deep dish look!

Honestly no. When the mudslingers came out I pulled the Thornbirds for them and haven’t looked back lol. I really like the Thornbirds it they are small. Other than my C10 I wouldn’t really run them in anything else just due to their size. I’ve been meaning to get another set of wheels to mount them on and run some more but everything has been hard to get ahold of lately.
Are the mud slingers a 1.55 or 1.9 tire?
They are a 1.0 also. I have a video on them as well. They hadn’t been released when I made this vid.

Really appreciate it. I did a small/medium tire sort of best of type video awhile back but even it is now outdated. The tires just got to coming out sooooo fast it’s hard to stay on top of them lol. I need to do a vid on my favorite overall tires at each size. Like my favorite tire in a small,medium & large size.

Well there was but they’ve all been out of stock for the last 2 months so none of the links were any good. Kinda aggravating that we can’t even get wheels and tires at the moment. Maybe I’ll add them back to the description and just put a huge message at the top that I don’t know when they’ll be back in stock and I’m sorry if the links are no good lol. I just kept having people say “the links no good, it says out of stock. Where can I get this or that tire?”

And as far as listing them in order that’s sort of personal preference really and always changing. Now that the mudslinger are out they are 100% the best tire in my opinion but they are also huge! So not for every application. They released several new tires in the same compound as the mudslingers but they’ve been out of stock since release so I haven’t even been able to test them. With the list of tires always changing if I list the best now then it’ll change in a month or 2 and then people will be complaining that I’m an idiot because I think X tire is best. They won’t look to see that the video is 3-4 months old and that tire wasn’t even available then lol

@@2fmrc Definitely in your video will be your personal opinion, but still with the test on your track we can see how they perform as I haven't tried any other than my stock Axial SCX24 I can't say, but you can easily make an order for tires that you'd buy again...

What wheels are you running with the white jeep?
They are the rc4wd raceline beadlocks. Very nice wheels. If you get them plan on getting a driver for the little tiny screws in the beadlocks or making a tool. I had to make one with a screw head that fit over them because the tool they send with them stripped on the 2nd screw. Everyone has problems with the tool. It’s junk!

the Rear should always be stiffer, stiffer foams stiffer shocks for climbing, you Never want your rear end collapsing on a Crawler 1:1 or 1/24 & you always want your front end softer, softer foams or no foams & softer shocks.. 👍🏼
I definitely agree on not wanting the rear to collapse but I like a little softer tire more firm suspension in the rear for traction but no tipping. I definitely don’t want a super soft front for those downhill turning situations. Has a lot to do with truck setup and personal preference. My buddy and I run quite a bit different setups on our 1/10s but both outdo most. It’s crazy how totally different setups can work well but just gotta be dialed in.
So you think the super swampers are a good choice for the c10?
Yeah I really like the tsl boggers/super swampers,rock creepers,bfgoodrich km3s or maybe even the Patagonia’s on the c10. The Patagonia’s are a little bigger so you’ll have more body rub though.

@@jayf2487 yeah the Thornbirds are pretty good tires. They are just too small for most of my setups. I like a bit bigger tire personally. The Thornbirds are some of the smaller rc4wd tires. Sort of like the rok lox if you’ve seen those.

@@tobias2517 those are the rc4wd stamped steel beadlock wheels. You actually mount the hex backwards on them to give them the wide (deep dish) look. They normally look a little different. It does widen the truck a bit. I’m running the rc4wd rock creepers tires on those in the video. Both came from rc4wd. They are sometimes hard to catch in stock so you just gotta keep a close eye on their site. Hope this helps!

D 4 one of the only sets I don’t have. Haven’t seen too many people use them regularly so I never picked them up. I may grab a set for my tire series. Do you have them?
@@2fmrc I recently got a set of them, running foams front and rear they are a night and day upgrade from the stock c10 tires. They are slightly taller than the stock but not by much. They look pretty damn good tho
Has anybody else soaked their stock tires in wd-40 and had them Ballon up? I don't recommend it now I have 4 different size tires that rub like hell.
Never had mine balloon on me. Are they still vented? Not holding wd inside them?
