- What is the best 1.0 scale crawler tire?! In this video I test four of the very best tires in the 1.0 scale tire segment. We have entrants from LGRP, Proline, Injora, and RC4WD. These are all ~57mm and will work great on the Axial SCX24, Traxxas TRX4M, FMS FCX24, and any other mini crawler running a 1.0 wheel.

Best crawler channel on youtube. I just bought three SCX24's and im currently building a garage course. Thank you for all the information.
Thank you!
Thank you for adding text to the screen when you are testing the tires! It's super helpful! The timestamps in the comment section are helpful as well! Just a note, if the time stamps are in the description rather than the comments, it will actually segment the video for you!
Great tip, thank you!
I have an obsession with 1.0 tires. I have roughly 20-25 different sets. I don't have an actual favorite but I have 3 sets I love. LGRP swamp kings, proline mt pro-x, and proline super swampers. Those are my favorites and go to tires
Can you get the proline stampers off of the wheel they sell it on or are they glued? I love the rc4wd TSL narrows but are just a tad small
@@a.fab.antonfabrication2717it's only 3 little Allen head screws to get the tires off the plastic proline wheels they come on
Heck yes you are the man!
Haha those are exactly my top 3 favorite tires as well. I am excited to get the smaller swamp kings!
If you had to pick between the swamp kings and the mt pro-x which would you choose?
In my experience the Trenchers are a great tire, like the little Hyrax tires they just work! I've noticed that while Proline's compound is not as soft and sticky as some other brands that doesn't seem to stop their forward progress! My theory is that you can go too soft on the compound and the tread lugs just fold over instead of grabbing, I think Proline knows their stuff and their tire designs and rubber compound seems to be proof of that.
They certainly make great tires. Super impressed.
Great video, thank you! I would not have guessed the Trencher would come out on top, nor that a Proline tire would be cost competitive to the others. I ordered a set for my TRX4M. Thanks!
Fantastic review! I was surprised for the overall top two, but I believe it was the right choice. I love how in-depth and raw the review was. +1 for having your kiddo in the background, it's great that you include him so much in your hobby.
Thank you! Axel and I have a blast with these. It makes it so much better when he's involved.
awesome video, i'm sure people will watch this for years to come when they get into building little crawlers. i just threw the whole injora kitchen sink at my trx4m, celebrated a good month of biz and went nuts! now the waiting game... cant wait to see the new 64x24 injora tires
I hope you're right. I try to keep that in mind when I sink hours and hours of time into these projects. Hopefully its evergreen. Have fun with your build!
Sweeeet! 😂
I saw this video and decided to get the Proline Trencers, here's my review: My TRX-4M: Bronco White
When I first installed them and tested them on my homemade cardboard track I was actually quite disappointed, compared to the stock tires the Trenchers just didn't have the grip it needed. It would always slide down the cardboard hill that I have driven up several times with the stock tires. But later I decided to vent the tires since the rims that came with the tires didn't have holes in them so I decided to get some nicer rims with holes.
After venting the tires the grip basically doubled. All that weight forcing the tires to really crawl up is what the tires really needed, venting. Although I do have to say that the tires aren't the best when it's being driven on smooth surfaces (like cardboard) or marble etc and they are amazing when you drive them over rough surfaces as you can also see in the video.
These tires are better on snow than the stock tires.
The Proline Trenchers fit very well on the TRX-4M and don't require any cutting or extensions. (You might experience rubbing, just like when using the stock tires and the size on the Proline Trencers is just about the exact same as for the stock tires.
The Proline Trenchers doesn't use a very sticky compound and it cleans out by itself.
My ratings:
-Smooth Surfaces: 4/10
-Rough Surfaces: 10/10
-Shallow & Soft Snow: 8/10
-Deep Snow: 5/10 (all the way up to bumper)
-Very hard snow: 10/10 (Hard and rough snow)
-Dirt & Dust: 8/10
-Rocks'n Stuff: 10/10
When driving in deep snow you end up having to fight for traction sometimes.
-Average Rating: 7.8 / 10
Conclusion:
The Proline Trenchers are great for rough terrain and not so much smooth terrain (Cardboard, marble, etc) They perform fine until they get vented. After venting the tires they become grippy beasts. They perform quite well in snow and really well on rocks'n stuff as you can also see in the video.
PS: My TRX-4M isn't very modified, just some tires and a few weights!
I recommend them for sure! - Just vent them (:
I would love the swamp kings to win, but I agree with you that the pro line trenchers got the win.
Awesome video Adam 👍, very informative. My all around go to tires are the trenchers, they seem to handle everything that's thrown at them
Thank you! I am very impressed with the trenchers. Probably going to grab a set in 1.9 for the big gladiator.
I'm a newbie but I think your comparison was spot on . My first upgrade job will be the 1/24 Axial Bronco and the Pro line Trencher looks like good start. I like the Swampers as well. Thanks
The milestar Patagonia I ran for a while, despite it being a small tire thr performance of it is extremely underrated. Definitely a tire to run if you’ve never used it
They are fantastic tires
Love your videos.! Tons of help and full of good ideas and advice. Thank you
I appreciate that, thank you!
I have been running trenchers for a few months now and I can say with confidence they outshine any other I have tried, with the exception of snow. They do not preform well in deep snow, but every other condition even wet they are amazing
Great tire!
Nice, just what I needed for my trx4m. Helps me out.
Rc4wd needs to make the wrangler in a bigger version...they have the best tread design for grip just held back by smaller size
Totally agree. A 57mm wrangler would be nearly unstoppable.
Yes.. totally agree...I've messaged rc4wd a couple of times asking them to make a bigger version so have a few friends hopefully they will listen
Great tire shootout Adam! I'd love to see you review some of the 1.9" crawler tires now that you have the SCX10 Gladiator...
Thanks! I'll be doing some 1.9 shootouts this spring/summer for sure as I continue to research and learn the 1/10.
ive bought many tires the rock terrains by far are the best ones ive used yet when the squish is right they grip on rock like no other ive even mudded with them and they went right through, they seem to not clean out but that doesnt hurt them as long as the knobs are clear
Thanks to this vid I ordered the injora tyres and white stamped steel headlocks with brass rings
Really good and helpfull test! My personal favorite is Injoras 58mm Swamp Stomper.
Great video! I have a couple of crawler projects I have started and this is great research! I do think you should do more video reviews. Maybe do a 4 part series with 4 different tires each time and take the winner from each round and have those four in the final. A kinda tire eliminator series. Thanks again Adam!
Thanks Chris! That's a good idea. There are so many good tires out there. A tournament style series would be cool.
Have you tried the rc4wd Irok .they are another great option for the 57mm.
I have not, but they look excellent!
I enjoyed watching this tire comparison, now I wonder what would happen if this same test was done with a different rig...
Thanks so much for this! I'm new to RC and just got a SCX24 Bronco. It's pretty immediately obvious that it needs better tires. I'm gonna order the Trenchers and give them a shot!
Thanks for watching! The trencher is great. Have fun!
Thx just saw this and got a lot of info on the tire game
Don't know if you saw my other comment ab CJ Crawler tires omg I love them I'm running no foam only air not vented and they stick I believe they're medium size check em out happy crawling
very informative video as always,i would like to see a video of maintenance and cleaning the rig after mud 😀,especially sticky tires like injora
very good comparison video 👍 friends😁👍🤝
Do you think the Injoras didn`t clean out the sand because of the compound?
I run the trail kings on my bronco and the trench kings on my defender. They rub the fenders a little but they are more trail truck/basic rock crawling.
I run the trail kings on my sons defender. Same results as you but I really like them on there!
Just the guide I needed. Thank u!
Good video. Hope you do update. Nice to see base rig used.
Just got the injoras in this video, interested to see how they perform, for me they've been great!
I like them a lot, so soft!
Thanks for this video. You saved me a lot of time and money testing them all myself. I will be getting a set of Trenchers for my TRX4M Bronco. What do you think about the Injora super soft inserts?
DC Crawler 60s are super soft and are my next test.
I just bought those 57mm Injoras and threw them on some Treal all brass wheels. They really need the added weight to grip but other than that they are really good. The one problem with being so sticky is they loose a lot of grip because they hold onto a lot of crap that you drive over. I still think the Injora T1008 are the best tires for a heavy TRX-4M.
The S5 compound of those things is outrageously sticky!
Im new to the hobby... Out of your opinion what is the best 1.0 tire
Thanks again for your reviews Adam. Greatly appreciated and valued! Wish you could do some more reviews and set up as far as radio/receiver/esc for scx24. Been running stock electronics but wanting to clean up RED .
Sorry. Was trying to attach a picture of my all red buggy crawler.
I'm still educating myself in this area as we speak. So far I'm pretty limited in my experience here, but I'm getting there!
You should do the same video of just injora tires and all sizes. I also want you to do a video to on the injora 58x20mm crawler master please
This is exactly what I needed. Thanks!
I think the old Injora rock terrain tires outperform the new Injora tires except on rocks. The new Injora mini pins are surprising too. Looks like a set of trenchers are in my future. Loving the mini swamp kings though. Thanks for the comparison video. LGRP ever going to get those wheels back in stock? lol
The wheels are restocking next weekend I believe!
Redo these Series ? with a Scx24 and all the new stuff.
Really considering getting the 1.0" MT Baja Pro X Pre-Mounted Tires, something about them just look so badass! Wanna get those to use on the Bronco.
They are awesome you won't regret getting them
@@johnnyhotshoe1292 sweet! 👍🏻
They are amazing, the proline pro x are heads and tails better than the same pro x tire by rc4wd.
@@joedavidjarvis7617 Right on! 💪🏻🤙🏻
As always, excellent informative content. I've always had the best results with Swamp Kings....all of my rigs have Swamp Kings....might just be my build preferences. Anyway- awesome info and, like always, great content.
Thank you sir! Swamp kings are still my favorite tires. Great all around tires.
@Cape Crawlers definitely my favorite tires so far.
So what do you do about tire slipping in the wheel? Can it be glued or do you have to go with beadlocks?
99% of wheels you'll find are beadlocks, but there are some glue on wheels. There needs to be something to be holding on the tires.
Love your video's!! Great information 👍
Hey there. For smaller tires, check out the jconcepts tusk in green compound. I tested them against the trenchers and they hooked up better in many situations. Trenchers and tusk are the top two tires right now in my book. Peace.
Those look great. I am learning more about Jconcepts tires research the 1.9's!
@@CapeCrawlers the 1.9 tusk are the sooo good. I use those on my c2 comp rig. They hook up like no other. It’s just a great compound mixed with a great tread style. Peace.
Hey, could you do an updated tire comparison with a bunch of tires for the trx4m?
Yes, I need to work on that. Lots of new entrants into the scale tire space!
Что посоветуете на fms k5?
Спасибо за видео)
You should do a review of the proline dual stage foam . I don’t see any reviews anywhere
Im going to. Haven't tried them yet but definitely want to
I have traxxas beadlocks, I just got some injora tires. I can’t get them to hold. Do I need to get injora beadlocks to match the tires?
You shouldn't have to. 99% of the time the brands all work interchangeably
@@CapeCrawlers Thank you. After your message, and watching the video again, i was able to get them on. Upgraded to the 64 mm tires!
I got trx4m with micky Thompson Baja pro from traxxas. But they seem so small after I put the 59mm shocks on. Looking for a slightly bigger tire for rock crawling but still wanna look scale what size tires would u recommend?
I like the treal trail burners on this thing. They’re a great size and look awesome
Nice review. I might try some Trenchers on my next build
Thanks! I was very surprised at how well they did.
@@CapeCrawlers i thought the Swamp Kings would take it
Can I use this wheels on Eazy RC Arizona? I am new to that hobby and bought the Arizona for god price and search some upgrades for it.
What car is that in the video?
Yes you should be able to. I believe that uses the same size hex as these trucks
I think that instead of doing the best tire from each brand, you should have done a tipe of tire like all terrain or rock terrain or loos terrain to get a fair comparison on everything
i think the injora rock terrains shine alot because of the squared shape wish more tires had a squared shape
I’m new to this. Just got a TRX4m. I’m going to order the prolines, any suggestion on which wheels. Is there any performance considerations, or is it just a personal visual preference?
There are performance considerations. Weight and width primarily. My favorite wheels are the mofo RC UPW or deep dish wheels. Tons of customization options for width, weight, and style.
Thank you for your Work on this. Great Video.
Glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of work lol
@@CapeCrawlers Changing Tires is the easiest Part in the Production i think ;) I would love to get the trenchers without the Rim.
Nice video bud! You ever try the ogrc tires, they are Rockstars!
I have not tried those. I will check them out though!
What are advantages of smaller tires (or disadvantages of the larger versions of swamp king and this injora tire) ?
Smaller tires keep the center of gravity down low and look more scale (if that matters to you). They also don't require body modifications.
Bigger tires also require more torque
What are the the rims used on the injora tires in this video ?
LGRP cyclone I believe
Hey cape I was wondering if you would review the Texoma rc slayer chassis and then compare it to the warthog I’m curious as to whom would be better
Yes, I'd love to. I need to reach out to Texoma to see if I can get my hands on one
I don't like that the Injora's have such a sharp edge. A little bit of rounding would make them much better.
Do you prefer the injora 57mm rock crawler tires or the 64mm?
64mm for sure.
What tire foams ?
Nice I’ve got the trenchers on my rig
They work great. Excellent tire.
We’re you using stock foams in every tire?
Yes I was
The rc4wd mudslingers are my favorite
Those are great tires as well!
Hello Adam! Thanks for the great review. I would love a quick comparison between the Injora 64mm you run on the comp/black Bronco VS the Trenchers that you ranked no 1 in this video. I am debating between these two. Are you planning on switching to the Trenchers on the comp build? (Im aware that you did a comparison on a specific size of tyre but Im searching for the best overall for crawling for the trx4m!)
Thanks for watching! I think the 64mm's would walk all over the trenchers. The extra clearance and bigger footprint would give them a big advantage I think. The only downfall would be the added height could cause the rig to be more tippy on vertical and sidehills. No, I am not planning to switch to the trenchers on the comp build. As good as they are, I still like a bigger tire.
@@CapeCrawlers Thanks so much for your insight!
Running thornbirds on my c10👌🏻
So which Bronco do you like better, the Axial, or Traxxas?
Tough choice. For a bronco, probably the Traxxas.
If I put the 64mm swamp Kings on the TRX4M would I have to trim anything?
Specifically, the bronco
I got them for my trx4m bronco but they are just too big. If you have the lift for your bronco they fit pretty well
The proline super swampers and proline mickey Thompsons pro x both fit great on the trx4m with stock suspension
They will rub something fierce unless you lift it and or remove the mud flare things which I decided against. I bought these specifically for my bronco and I wish they had worked. I'm running the proline swampers, and pro x on my broncos
I think a cool way to test off-road tires could be driving until the tread fills up with mud/sand/dirt then drive them X amount of feet on dry pavement and compare how they clean themselves out. Should be pretty telling as to which tire would clean itself out while on said terrain
Great idea!
@@CapeCrawlers thanks buddy 😄
What wheel is that on the picture of GoodYear wranglers
LGRP torque beadlocks I believe
@CapeCrawlers yeah just found them online. Nice rims!
I'd like to see the Tusk green compound
I would like to try those. I am hearing a lot of good things about the JConcepts since buying my scx10
@@CapeCrawlers 1/10 scale they are great. They also make them in 1.0
the goodyear wrangler tire is modeled after the goodyear wrangler MTR tire. Had 2 sets of 35's on my YJ about 10 years ago. MTR's are great tires IRL
They look great, and they worked amazing on my SCX24 bronco. They may just be too small for the 1/18 scale rigs.
Awesome video, you should compare different inserts to see how they make tire’s better
Thats a great idea. Lots of insert options nowadays!
@@CapeCrawlers definitely is, flub rc, ccxrc (I believe) Yzzr inserts etc
You did a great job but thank you for doing the research
Thanks! It was a lot of work but lots of fun.
Hyrax or Pin Tires.. any money they will be the best.
Inserts make a big difference also, obviously
What size is the proline trenchers
57mm tall, I can't remember the exact width
@@CapeCrawlers thanks that helped keep videos coming there great
What is the stock tire size
57mm stock
MT Baja Pro X FTW.
Good stuff. Great content as usual.
Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉
f yeah the vid
No aggressors? what.
I don't have any Boom wheels. May be time to invest in some since their tires seem pretty good!
@@CapeCrawlers I felt the same way, so ordered some red compound Aggressors. Someone said get reds if your rig is over a certain weight as blacks are so soft they will just fold under themselves.
Great video as always 👌
