Hats off to your LS dealer. A free PR video for the dealer and the manufacturer. Also advertising for a new kit for that model tractor. I would buy from this dealer and have them maintain my equipment in a heartbeat.
Adam, I've been dealing with SLI for years, and they do remember you and keep records on everything you purchase and keep all of your information. They are truly a home town business and care about you.
A dump trailer with 14,000 pounds worth of weight capacity is absolutely the best single trailer to have if you are a smalltimer with 1-2 pieces of equipment that can fit into it.
@@Thunderst0rn the axles on a dump are really far back in order to prevent picking your truck up by the hitch when 8,000 pounds of concrete tumbles to the rear of the bed when you dump it. … I routinely tow an 8,5000 lb excavator in a similar dump trailer behind an F250 diesel. It is tricky to get the machine far enough BACK to properly balance the load while still closing the trailer doors. But it works really well once you figure it out. The main real downside? Height. The deck is very high. Your trailer is less stable, you need to pay more attention to overhead clearance, and the ramps are very steep when loading/unloading.
I will probably never use a tractor however your video was so enjoyable to watch, especially watching Rich. It is always a pleasure seeing people working with such professionalism and knowledge.
Hey Adam! I stopped by your stand today and got $60 worth of firewood. Thanks for the wood,we are going to get some good enjoyment at the fire pit. Have a wonderful Memorial Day with your family and friends. Take care and God Bless you all!!!❤😊
Just bought a MT347 HC from Sandy Lake. Had the 3rd function installed. Hydro top link looks very useful. I’m taking delivery on it this week! I’ll be following your channel!
The top link and tilt sure make hooking up to implements WAY easier too. Even with quick hitch it can be tough if not on level ground and those functions make it simple regardless if level or not.
That was kind of the man to let you video the work & take time to explain it all. Some bulldozer company needs to realize you're a great advertiser & "share" a bulldozer with you!! 😉👍✨️ God bless you and your family!! ♥️🙏♥️
I have these options on both my tractors and they should be standard options, I use the TT on my finish mower when mowing over banks and ditches and the TT kit on my drag blade and box scraper, once you get these options you will never want a tractor without them !
Nice! I added a 3rd function to my New Holland T4.95 and it was an excellent addition. They should be more of a standard item on loaders given the number of grapples and such out there now. On my T5.120, it came from the factory with a diverter for running 3rd function. It's seamless and works very well. I look forward to seeing how your rear adjustability helps out. Nice video!
What a great video, I installed a hydraulic third link on my MX4700 last summer and what a difference it makes being able to adjust on the fly. Your right that should come standard on every tractor. Ill never be without one.
This was a great video Adam. A real eye opener for someone like myself. While it’s sometime fun to do maintenance work, should anything go South on you Sandy Lake will take of it. That’s where my son says it’s cheaper for me to have the work done. He told once, my times worth a lot more so I just have most maintenance done. It will be fun to see how you utilize your tractor for existing and future projects. When you use those new functions we’ll all think back to this video. 😊❤
I had the dealership install the third function on my tractor. Totally agree, not something I wanted to tackle. I’m still struggling about box blade vs land plane. When I make that decision, I will install the top and tilt myself since the rear remote is on the machine. Great video.
Nothing better than watching a Master Mechanic at work. At the end of the video I noticed the pond. I thought it would be farther along by now. How about an update.
Rich is knowledgeable and has pride as a mechanic. Fear is when these guys retire for good, Who's going to step up? Don't see many younger people like this. Hope there are some out in the world to do this work.
Nice video Adam. There at the end in the background it appears that the pond level is low. Is it still leaking? When are you doing another update on it?
Could you guys make a video or do you guys have a video of explaining the land you purchased? How much wooded and how much open land grass? How much is costs to buy and even approximately how much it costs to maintain?
I just received my LS MT357 Friday. I had the 3 function added before I got it. It is nice. 12 hours I had bolts backing out. Which the manuel covered. I like the hydraulic lift I need to ask about that
I wonder what Richards back story is ? How do you go from being in charge of an off shore oil platform to tinkering with tractors in a roadside garage ? 😊😊
Interesting seeing how thee 3rd function valve was put on. I got a 3rd function valve as part of the purchase of my TYM 574HC. I may have to consider a tilt kit though. I put a hydraulic top link on for my land plane, but can see the advantage of the tilt kit for my box blade.
Just ordered the top link for mine. Didn’t get the tilt kit. I’ll be interested in an update video after a while to see if having the check valve on the top link really matters or not. The one I ordered from agrisrore has it.
Smart move Adam going to the dealer for this. The third function valve install looked fairly detailed, complex and not intuitive. The functionality and ease of operation for your tractor will be greatly improved. Anyway, happy Memorial Day. Stay safe healthy and cool. Bill H from Cranberry Township
Hi Adam, What is the name brand of this 3rd function? It looks to be factory as it has the same joystick as stock with the 2 buttons. Is it an LS 3rd function? Dan
Adam I'm surprised that you could hall that size tractor and trailer with your truck? But it seemed to handle it you will enjoy that rear remote function! Can't wait to see the building and how's the pond doing?
17:15 You can tell Rich is someone who knows that having a hydraulic gauge whipping around on a 18" lead is definitely not fun. And if you wanted to get him a nice Christmas gift, get him one of those 20 gallon low profile oil drain pans from Vevor :). He won't need near as much kitty litter.
How do you strap down your tractor in the dump trailer. I want to consolidate to one large dump trailer but can't figure out the best way to strap down the tractor.
I have 4 D rings in the corners of the bed of the trailer. Now finding a good tie down point on the tractor itself is a different story. If the machine was mine I would probably try to weld on something for tying down
To use piloted check valves on a hydraulic top link and/or side link is highly debated on the various tractor forums. The only reason not to us a check valve is if you intend to use an implement in float mode. Othewise it is best to use a check vale on both hydraulic links in the name of safety and to prevent leak down changing the position of an implement how ever small the leak down may cause. To see a seasoned mechanic using tape on a hydraulic fitting was disturbing since it is considered "taboo", the tape can lead to residue in the hydraulic fluid and can lodge in the hydraulic valves. I (and most others) use Loctite 545 on all hydraulic (and pneumatic) fittings.
The key to using tape on a fitting is to start the tape a thread or 2 back from the end of the fitting. I have used it that way for 40 years without a problem.
With all the hills you have, be careful loading on a slight incline. If the rear tires of your truck come up a little off the ground, you'll be going for a ride you won't like..
IMHO if you have a box scraper you really do need the Top & Tilt functions. However, the manufacturers of that kit need to re-spec that top cylinder of the top & tilt kit. The one they chose is too long. Fully retracted is about what I would consider a neutral position and the rearward "droop" is super excessive. Right now if you wanted to rip with the scarrifier teeth you can barely pick up the back blade to avoid scraping and moving dirt at the same time.
Honest dealer, honest work, despite his age... think seriously about who you want your daughters to see as their President.... if they wore that much make-up as 45... would you let them out of the house? Or let them in his car?
Not to bust your balls to much. But when you load your tractor. You should block the front tire of your truck. Can see your trailer moving forward as you load it. I had it happen one time loading a skid steer on a trailer and the rear tires on the truck came off the ground and I was along for the ride.
Yeah I knew that would happen. As long as you’re prepared for it and know what to do you should be fine. When you’re at that point either get on the trailer or get off. The worst thing you can do is freeze. My truck and trailer only moved about 6” because I kept driving forward to get the tractor to provide tongue weight and get the truck tires back on the ground. Or better yet park on flat ground and you don’t have anything to worry about
Rich is the type of guy we all hope is working on our equipment when a trip to the dealership is required.
I agree
I have a good dealer where I am. Your guy was impressive. You can tell when someone cares about the work they do.
Rich is obviously a very knowledgeable, skilled mechanic. You were in good hands. Great video Adam! 🤠👍
Absolutely
An employee like Rich is the reason I would purchase a tractor there
That's what a professional, skilled mechanic looks like. Nice work Rich!

Rich knows his stuff. I'm also impressed with that trailer of yours. It can carry so much weight.
A dump trailer with 14,000 pounds worth of weight capacity is absolutely the best single trailer to have if you are a smalltimer with 1-2 pieces of equipment that can fit into it.
I agree but I wonder what the vertical load is on the connection with the pick-up. It seems large with the wheels rather far back.
@@Thunderst0rn the axles on a dump are really far back in order to prevent picking your truck up by the hitch when 8,000 pounds of concrete tumbles to the rear of the bed when you dump it.

I agree, when I bought my L4060 Kubota new I ordered it with the top and tilt and third function. These should be standard equipment.
Good video 👍 Great upgrade 😊 The ability to be able to crown your drive alone will be worth it.
