Synopsis:A young waitress, Tiana, embarks on a hilarious adventure after her fateful kiss with a frog prince who cannot wait to be human again.
One of my favorite things is no matter how spoiled or krazy Charlotte is, she always put her friendship/love for Tiana first
I like this about her as well!
i love that they could have easily played into the mean girl trope here but they didn't and made her super ride or die
that and she’s super passionate and expressive
I like how it’s the 1920s and Charlotte and Tiana are friends without problems.

Well it’s a Disney movie. It’s not too historically accurate.
It's Disney and a film about talking animals and humans being turned into frogs. I don't think they were going for historical accuracy.
I mean, the prince marrying a servant in Cinderella would have been a problem in the real 19th century too!

My favorite theory is that Lottie got that blue dress made for Tiana bc why would Lottie, a girl who is only seen in big pink ball gowns, wear a slim blue dress? That also just happens to fit Tiana?! She clearly got Tiana's mom, who would know her daughter's measurements, and paid to make her a dress! And bc Tiana would never just accept the dress Lottie had to wait for the perfect time to "gift" it to her.

Facilier stepping on Ray was a shocking moment in the theater. It got very quiet very fast. That was... completely unexpected. He was already evil, but that... that was just brutality.

Well you were talking about Tangled when Mama Odie revealed why the curse was lifted.
It could only break when he kisses a princess. Since he married Tiana she became a princess and it made her eligible to break the curse.
It’s a loophole that much people didn’t think about.

Nah that's not what she meant. That joke just didn't age well. She danced with fake Naveen at her party who she thought was a prince.

Just accept that the joke didn't age well and move on. It's not a big deal.
It worked because once she married him, and then kissed him, she became a princess. The curse breaks when he kisses a princess.
Some Princess and the Frog facts: Directors Ron Clements and John Musker pitched the film to Oprah on a trip to Disneyland, just for fun. She loved the idea so much that she asked to be a part of it, Oprah plays Tiana's mom! The women who fawn over Prince Naveen are all caricatures of women who work at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Anika Noni Rose requested that Tiana be left-handed, just like her. Tiana's dimples are ALSO borrowed from Anika! In an earlier version of the story, Louis was a human who couldn't play any instruments, but really wanted to, so he went to Dr. Facilier who gave him the ability to play the trumpet-and turned him into an alligator in the process. It was too complicated, so filmmakers nixed the subplot.

I love the animation in this movie so much! The sequence with Tiana singing about her restaurant and Facilier’s voodoo. I wish Disney would return to 2D animation.
This movie is probably the most underrated Disney movie, imo. I just adore it and love Prince Naveen. All of the characters are so good. And the music is second to none.

Tiana, for me, is the most grounded and realistic. Wayy more modern than any Disney princess
Yeah, She's hard working and doesn't wait someone to save her but she is humble enough to accept help. There fore she is best Disney Princess and princess type. You don't just wish upon star, work for it.
The soundtrack for this movie is absolutely elite. And you know you F'd up when your own theme song turns against you like what happened to Dr. Facilier. Also, the Almost There scene was done in the art style of Aaron Douglas, a prominent figure of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. His two-dimensional art filled with symbolism and a passionate future for African-Americans have influenced many artists. The storytelling, animation, and music all work so well together in this.
I tear up every time Ray turns into a star!

Tbh this was a personal favorite of my sister and I. Our mom loved Ne-Yo’s music so she even enjoyed watching it over and over on DVD just to hear his amazing song at the end.

I fell in love w/ it when I first heard it when I was 13 .
My favorite thing about this movie was that Disney didn't go the tired route that would have made Charlotte the jealous antagonist. Her really, truly being Tiana's best friend was heartwarming.
The scene that always gets me is Charlotte saying, "All my life I dreamed of true love and fairytales and Ti, _you found it!!_ I'll kiss him! No marriage required!" through happy tears. Fantastic.
i mean is it a little problematic that disneys first black princess spends about 85% of the movie as an amphibian? oh absolutely😂 but tianas still one of the best princesses and this movie is still one of the best.
Also if you loved this music in this you would love hercules! it’s a gospel driven soundtrack and the combination of that with the mythology is just perfect
I understand, but in Brave the second biggest character, Queen Elinor, is transformed into a bear for half the movie. And she's played by Dame Emma Thompson, who has done tons of Shakespeare. So very famous, high status white girls get turned into zoo creatures, too.

Having a discussion between AA characters without dealing with physical stereotypes was the aim.
We hear Tiana's words when she says, "You're the laziest, most worthless", we do not have to look into her human eyes every time.
This film is attempting to have people embrace their humanity through how they deal with these most unhuman characters.
This is my favourite Disney princess movie 😭 this has one of the very rare prince with a personality... like Eugene (Flynn Rider), Aladdin etc.
If anyone’s wondering what that medal on the fathers picture is at 2:27 it’s the distinguished army cross the 2nd highest medal anyone can achieve in the US Army. The only medal higher is the Medal of Honor
Lottie is hands down my favorite character in this movie. At first she comes across as pampered and spoiled (and she absolutely is), but when it comes to it she always puts Tiana first without any hesitation what so ever. Stashed her name away for a future service dog for obvious reasons.
"Seb discovering a frog kink" is not what I had on my 2023 bingo card, but okay go off king 🐸
This movie scared my little sister when we first saw it. To this day, it's the only bearable princess movie for me, yet it hardly gets brought up

I really enjoy Charlotte. She is that crazy over dramatic friend we all have. It may be self absorve and assumes everything goes around them, but in the end they are, there when we need them.
By the way, prince Naveen is one of the most sexy and handsome prince that disney created
I was trying to figure out what was making me so emotional seeing this movie again after only seeing it once & it’s because it was released in 2009 the hardest year of my life and I also lost my father like Tiana. I remember watching this in theaters, actually enjoying myself & laughing, forgetting all my problems for the hour.

I know it’s months old but quick note! The reason they both turned back to human, is that the prince needed to be kissed by a princess to break the curse. It didn’t work with the blonde woman because she was only the princess of carnival for the one day, so it ended at midnight. But once Tiana and the prince married, she became a princess by marriage, and so their kiss broke the curse.
down south (american south) we call those bugs, lightning bugs or fireflies, usu the former but it depends. hearin you say "glow bugs" the whole time was a whole vibe. think i might start callin them that now. lol
If you pay attention to the Shadow Man's shadow in his shop, you'll notice that the design on the wall behind him turns into skulls and crossbones.
This is such an underrated Disney film.

Thank you so much for reacting to my number 1 favourite movie of all time. The princess and the frog is 100% criminally underrated. Both Tiana and Naveen get completely over looked for the likes of rapunzel and flynn and anna and kristoff (and elsa). It has amazing story line amazing art work amazing character development and some of the best songs in disney history. I wish people would give the princess and the frog the credit that it deserves. Tiana needs the credit she deserves everyone sleeps on her but she is real and keeps it 100 she had a dream and a goal and she didn't let anything holdnher backnans stop her from reaching it even being turned into a frog shw showed resourcefulness charisma sass loyalty and that as long as you put your mind to it and your heart is in the right place anything is possible. 10/10

Most underrated Disney musical in my opinion. The songs are just banger after banger.
In a movie about talking animals, voodoo, and frogs turning into princes, the most unrealistic thing is that Tiana and Charlotte are best friends and that a black woman can work with white people without racism issues in the 1920s

After they got married Tiana is technically a real princess now because of Naveen is real royalty, therefore it broke the spell because he needed to be kissed by a princess

Seb, if you haven’t seen The Princess Bride I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend it. It’s AWESOME.
The movie was a banger. S tier i loved how Disney finally created a new story for a princess and prince, don't get me wrong the classics are nice but i never really understood to romance in them it felt forced. But here, you see how Navin and Tiana go from feuding to partnership to affection. And the music was bussin. Man i loved it.
have you ever seen the road to eldorado? its an absolute classic and youd get plenty of ayo moments. its probably the biggest ayooo kids movie ive ever seen. its hilarious, not very much music but what it does have is a banger, and its a great story and animation.
Frozen one and two is one of my favorite original animations. That just touched me and I felt unexpectedly.
Tbh, I never vibed with Dr. Facilier’s song until I heard it on Disneyland Momentous. That arrangement is much more than a banger.
Ray becoming the second star is a reference to "the second star to the left" from peter pan, thats how you get to neverland

the ray scene makes me cry every time
While I do enjoy every minute of Princess and the Frog, for me, the best part of the movie is Ne-Yo’s song “Never Knew I Needed”, which is the first song on the end credits for those that don’t know.
I honestly feel bad for the shadow man. He's just a guy who got into too much debt and couldn't pay it back.
God this has always been my favouritest disney movie. EVERY SONG IS A BOP.

Sad thing yet still amazing thing is that Tiana's dad almost likely fought and died in WW1 given that hanging on his army photo on Tiana's desk is the Destinguished Service Cross which is only second to the Medal of Honor being the highest military medal for valor in the entire US military.
Alot of African American's were not awarded the Medal of Honor due to the color of their skin, through WW1 and WW2. Often being awarded the Distinguished Service Cross despite their actions being well and deserving of the M.O.H.
