I own this DVD. I love every second of her performance. She is an extremely talented singer and pianist. She has the voice of an angel. Thanks for reaction to her. Take care...
I love, love, love Diana Krall! She's got everything going on! Her voice and tone are fantastic, her jazz piano is fantastic, and probably least important of all, she's drop dead gorgeous! My guitar teacher wanted me to specifically listen to her performance of When I Look in Your Eyes on the album of that title. He called it the prettiest love song ever written. On that album she performs with a trio with herself on piano with bass and guitar if I remember correctly. First of all, she's not old enough to know these songs! She doesn't have the greatest range but her superpower is knowing how to phrase a song such that you never heard it that way before. She's a huge fan of Nat King Cole. Fun fact: When I Look in Your Eyes was first sung in the Disney edition of Dr. Doolittle by Rex Harrison to a seal after a shipwreck at sea! When Diana sings it, you can interpret it so many ways! It really is a very pretty love song, but it doesn't have to be romantic love, or it could be. Loved your reaction! One of my very favorite artists, Lisa Lynne who plays Celtic Harp called you studio guys the "brain surgeons of music". I'd love to hear your reaction to her rendition of Chanters Tune from the Maiden's Prayer album. Sublime! I'd never heard that strong lead from a harp before. There's a viola de gamba sustained note that must go on for 8 measures at least, possibly more! (The song is in 2/2 time).
I can not thank Richard enough for recommending and you Jeff for sharing this performance of Ms. Krall's "Cry Me A River". Jazz will never die when stellar artists, of the likes of Diana, can reinterpret anew, the bedrock of the genre. And she walks amongst us, I'm loving life. Rb
I have been in love with Diana's sound from the very beginning. I believe it's from the same concert in Paris... You really need to listen and react to her "A case of you" Joni Mitchell cover.
Loving Diana, and how you listen to her. One of my favourite female jazz singers-and pianists, so smooooth~. ‘Live in Paris’ is gold ⭐️ Thanks for a stellar reaction, Jeff x
This could have been one of my own requests😍😄👍🏼. I absolutely LOVE listening to Diana Krall - the one and only! - have been doing so for many years now and this song and rendition is No exception!💫🌟✨😍🥰🫠 (and with brilliant musicians here, if not always👌🏼🤩). Sometimes I pop in to watch a video like this to just watch her perform, sing and play the piano …. being in the music ….. just so special and heart warming❤️🫠🫠. She really is one of a kind💎🎶🤩🥰. So delicate and precise - not too little, not too much - just perfect for the mood, feeling, tone, music …. I soooo love that🥰🫠🫠🫠. Richard - thank you so much for requesting her and this song+live performance from Paris, and Jeff - thank you for yet another lovely reaction and for picking this one out🙏🏼💜❤️💚🌱🌈🎶🥰🤗.
"...the guitarist..." is Anthony Wilson. He's been Diana Krall's primary guitarist in live performances since 2001 and on record since 2004. He also played guitar on father Gerald Wilson's east coast and west coast bands, taking over leadership for already booked gigs when his dad died. I bought his first album before it was nominated for a Grammy just because it looked more interesting in the jazz racks than anything else, and I really wanted some new stuff. On his latest albums, he sometimes sings self composed songs, and (IMO) his singing voice is far from his strongest asset. I might find something of his for your future reaction. On the Diana Krall piece, the drummer and bass were Jeff Clayton and John Hamilton, who were the rhythm section on her first album and have played on most of her albums since.
Is this song part of the "Great American Songbook" with Jazz standards? If not, it ought to be. If the greats like Dinah Washington or Ella Fitzgerald considered it good enough to include it in their repertoire it certainly should.
I suggest a comparison of this rendition to Julie London's original release (ua-cam.com/video/gCGNYJOrebA/v-deo.html) and Angelina Jordan's 2017 Proysenfestivalen rendition (ua-cam.com/video/Zr4INP8yhB0/v-deo.html). 😂
I Love Diana Krall...BUT this live version of the same song that she nailed in the recording studio years ago, reveals semi-tone issues and at one place where she is flat. Singing LIVE is VERY HARD to do and I credit her for trying this sultry song on a staged event. Compare it to her studio recording and you'll understand my critique.

Shout out to John Clayton (bass), Anthony Wilson (guitar) and Jeff Hamilton (drums)...and many thanks for your reaction video!
Grew up in Nanaimo B.C. on Vancouver Island.

Saw her live, don't miss a chance to do that.

I love Diana Krall's voice and technique, and this "standard" fits very well her skills
Accents were like a gentle touch. Krall is a giant with her voice. I always end up in tears when I hear that song.

Yes, l have her CD with that song on it. Great song and she does it justice.
Her tone! So rich and full!
Totally!

Actually, ‘Live in Paris’ is multi-platinum...
Nothing better than this! Thanks!

Yes!!!
Diana Krall - Newport Jazz Festival - Peel me a grape - the very best vocal in Jazz ever! - ua-cam.com/video/SeVayITavWw/v-deo.html
I had this DVD since it came out, as well as all of her early CD's. I just love her interpretation of the old standards. Just so smooth and silky.
I first discovered your channel for Nightwish reactions, but a series of Diana Krall reactions would be most welcome.
So so lovely! I love this style and this was immaculate. Loved the guitar solo. So good
NICE! Such a hypnotizing voice ❤

Check out a vocal group called “Rare Silk.” They were out of Colorado in the 80s. I suggest “Spain (I recall)”. Absolutely phenomenal.

very very nice. i'm pretty sure you'll fancy laufey as well, the icelandic jazz-wonderwoman
Her husband is Elvis Costello
