As a Canadian , I can confirm maple sirup is not thermal paste 👍
thanks, i was getting a bit confused by the two.
Im Canadian but thanks for clarifying I wasn't sure
Pretty sweet

@@auzzzeee6637 Well the maple syrup doesn't but you can clean your motherboard with water. Although you probably shouldn't do it unless you know how.
@@iz2333 be careful, especially around the capacitors, those things tend to kill electronics.
i actually didnt know it was possible to clean it like that with water lol
Me neither but I guess as long as you give it a good place to dry completely its PROBABLY fine. I will not be doing that though lmao ill stick to IP alcohol and a qtip
why are u being a baby just do it
I think the solid minerals accumulated after drying the water might be dangerous. Although some good air blowing might get them out...
But it's not good for it
It won't do damage if it isn't turned on

Some extreme overclockers put their motherboards in dishwashers to clean the Vaseline off that protects the board from condensation. As long as you completely drain all power from components, water wont cause any harm.
It's not completely true! Water from dishwater is softened and so is a bit corrosive! Tap water is also dangerous because it may contain minerals that can deposit on traces and create false contacts! The proper way to wash an electronic device is by using proper deionised water!
these videos make me much more confident to change parts on my pc without damaging them.

Fuckin genius
Not cool to watch this at 7:30 am!?! Literally heart attack! Worked around comp hardware for 12 years and the feeling right before hitting the power button, classic!
motherboard : please unplug me .
Yep, keep in mind though if the water is heavy with minerals during the drying it could create short circuits, also capacitors stay charged, so idealy those should also be discharged, however as we can see usually its fine
hello love ur vids
I'll try this at home thnks
To anyone considering washing a motherboard, make sure to remove the CMOS battery first.
As I was watching this I was like: "I'm going to post a funny comment saying to rinse it under water, since no one would be stupid enough to do that!"
And then I finished the video
You can use clean water, just a lot of people would be impatient with the drying. That's what'll get you
The only problem it could cause is over time the Capacitor will take in water and then it won’t work, but it’s just a matter of replacing the capacitors and it will work if the capacitors didn’t damage anything else, the resistors, mosfets ics won’t take in water because they are sealed components, maybe the motherboard could take in some water and over time become brittle and the traces will be broken and when that happens the entire thing is toast, because there just isn’t a way to fix a trace that is inside of the board, you’d have to grind part of the board but then you’d be risking damaging other traces that you don’t know where they go

Day 98 of asking to use solder paste as thermal paste…
Cleaning with water will create corrosion later. You should always clean with isopropyl lubricant liquid.
Day one of asking to use a cpu instead of thermal paste
That first clip legit made me cry
Day 1 of asking to use toothpaste as thermal paste
I use toothpaste when i dont have thermal paste, works like a charm
isoprophy alchohol is what saves the circuit..it literally evaporates along with the other foreign liquid it came into contact with. but this trick would only work if the alchohol were applied as early as when the pc is soaked in water.. if the mobo was let to dry on its own.. even that alchohol couldn't save it
Day 92, asking to use honey in place of thermal paste
ua-cam.com/users/shortsOzgdD_C8S80?feature=share it's done already
fun fact, you can actually put motherboards in the dishwasher to clean them. just set it to cold wash with no dry cycle and they'll be fine.
How you cleam that table?
he finnally got the suryup
Day 159 along for water as thermal paste
Ive clean a lot of boards like that, due to coolant spill from watercooling. Normally I soak them with alcohol after rinsing as it dries it quick. Never had one failed by it
Nice 👍 3rd
Yeah the only point of failure might be an inductor, if not dried properly. And it would need some time to fail for the copper wire to oxides it will not be instant failure.
As a guy who can only afford a Chromebook it hurts
Rinsing it water is commonly done in commercial applications. As long as it’s immediately followed by a rinsing agent to prevent corrosion it’s fine. Works on ultrasonic cleaners as well.
Then there me who hold my motherboard when building like it a baby... 😂
YOu should not use Ispropyl for the motherboard it will strip the soldering paste and other stuff.
Use distilled water. I learned this from a friend 30 years ago. He used to supply sound for outdoor events and his amplifiers and speakers would be caked in dust he would just dip it in distilled water and then use a compressor air used to dry cars he would take it to a service station and dry it.
He would tell this should work for computers. But I never had the heart to dip my computer in distiller water. But then when he started using laptops to play music he did it. He removed the battery held the power button for a minute and then would dip it in distilled water and dried it.
Im building my first computer tomorrow because of you so thanks d:
Circuit boards are cleaned with water during production BUT deionized water is used...even a small amount of dissolved solids can bridge a connection resulting in frying your board
TLDR dont try at home
Him doing this: pc works fine Me always taking care of my shit, my main laptop: broken
Thank God because I was just eating French toast sticks while installing my rtx 4090 fe. I got syrup all over the mother board and in the power supply
How many times have you tortured your cpu?
mryeester: yes
Uses distilled water, it will not leave any residue when it dries.
I can't even buy a one decent computer forget about gaming and here this guy trying all kinds of experiments on every motherboard and cpu he finds
Washing water will remain under various highly integrated IC chips for a long time without drying. If this does not go away after a day or two, it can burn the elements of the motherboard the moment you turn on the power hastily.
He said until everything dries
IC chips are very unlikely to short out capacitors, and resistors are more prone to water damage but you can easily discharge them by just holding the power button
1.
use synthetic oil that doesn't evaporate and dry up and shrink like veg base.
2. use very finely ground highly conductive ground metal powder as a heat transfer medium.
3.
bear in mind that using water to clean the motherboard and not spraying a light rust inhibiting coat - (after covering risky items that would create short circuits)
....will cause rust in the very near future - as with electric items that get wet and then sun dried without drying and coating crevices.
we lightly brush on petroleum jelly as a protective coat even when joining two wires together at home so as to get a longer lasting, corrosion free, and cozy conductive joint .
remember though, crap gathers on grease and creates electrical conductivity.
the method is usually good for wire and nut joints, and isolated motherboard parts.
a paper stencil can be used to isolate parts when spraying wd-40 type stuff.
works like a fresh lick of paint
Thx i never knew is posible to wash my hardware in dishwasher before

This man's scrap is better than a y tower I've ever had lol
been doing that since pentium dual core was 1st released way back 2006, motherboards are film coated, you can safely wash and soak with any shampoo or diswashing liquid, just be sure to dry it fully. Use hair dryer or heatgun or leave it under the sun..
As long the water does not short circuit, it's all safe.
The motherboard 🤝 hot sink water
Thanks bro i lost NNN to a pc and I needed to clean it up thanks
The things this pc has had done to it
When you washed the motherboard with water I literally almost died 💀
Yeah water isn't a direct problem if the system is plugged off but it can corrode the components
You can also use a sonic cleaner.
And if you're willing to risk it, you could just run it through the dishwasher. As long as its good and dry before you run power through it, it should be fine.
That is a war crime
Canadians: Throw it in the snow, that’ll do the trick.
Use distilled water instead house water...because normal water contains mineral salt that can deposit on motherboard..
bros motherboard has been thru war
the sweetest motherboard ever, "psych"
Having worked at one of Hewlett Packard's pc fab facilities, modern solder flux is water soluble. So water is fine, the optional would be rubbing alcohol which has 30% water so both ways of cleaning.
How Canadians cool their computers😆
Here in the PH, we wash it with liquid dishwashing soap.

Day 6
Yes!
I had cocacola on my motherboard. Never cleaned it, did run for years. And they say packardbell sucks 🤣🤣🤣
It's honestly not all that surprising really. I immersed a B350 motherboard from a flood damaged PC, first in distilled water overnight, let it sit to dry for 48 hours, then in 92% alcohol over, then again let it fully sit to dry for 48 hours. The board worked completely fine after that.
It surprised the crap out of me because when I came across that PC it had literal mold in it. Lol. Sadly that motherboard was the only thing salvageable. Everything else succumbed to corrosion
I had a visceral reaction to that maple syrup
I love the part this guy didn't remove the battery on mother board

Capacitors, CMOS battery - I thought you knew how computers worked
they can be discharged by holding a screwdriver to the motherboard battery, he knows his stuff
@@pecros First of all, wtf are you doing discharging a CMOS battery with a screwdriver, have you considered taking it out? Second of all, they didn't discharge the capacitors. Third of all, you should look at a plug - see that third prong? It's called ground. Exactly how is a screwdriver grounded?
I wish I could have the ability to was all that potential bc I need to get one for college 😂
