    Recently had the good fortune to travel to LA and order a pair of Engineer boots from Brian. His workshop has an aura about it. You sense all the great work that has been done there. He is a gentle soul with creative genius who crafts to perfection. We're lucky to have him. I hope others are inspired by him and follow in his footsteps.

    Loved your answer to the person looking to be a cobbler - good man. I'm older than dirt and build all sorts of stuff. People ask me 'how did you do that'? So I tell them. I know it so why not pass on your stored up knowledge. People use it as a power thing, I'm glad to see you don't Brian. Spread the word, teach people and learn from us oldies 😊
    Keep up your great work Brian

    Brian. Me complace ver tu trabajo.

    Thank you Brian for your Q&A session I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to future Q&A's! Really enjoy your videos Brian! Just a few months ago I discovered a local cobbler and had a pair of relatively inexpensive boots resoled, they did really nice work. After that experience I’m supporting them by purchasing most of my shoe care products there, really hoping your craft doesn’t die. Now I’m willing to spend more on quality boots and shoe to have them repaired! Keep up the great work!

    Thank you so much for answering my question! I do fear the cobbling trade is dying but I'd love to be able to continue such a beautiful craft. I've loved footwear for as long as I can remember, definitely will start to look around for master cobbler to learn from and then hopefully come in to my own way of doing things. Thanks again Brian! Keep up the crazy amazing work you do!

    Ayeee shout out to Pho Broadway! That was my friend's parent's shop. They retired and closed down after so many years. There's a ton of great Vietnamese food out in the 626 too, not too far from DTLA. But the most traditional and variety is out there in Westminister/Garden Grove.

    Hi Brian, I really enjoy your videos and your energy is great, please keep it up! I have a question that maybe other viewers/readers may have , too or may be able to help with. I suppose it’s more of a cry for help than a question. Due to past foot injuries I wear zero-drop or barefoot style boots daily. I’m looking to upgrade to a more durable boot for everyday use/outdoor work/winter, etc. (currently wearing the waterproof Boulder boot by Lems Shoes) and have been eying Carolina’s 8-in Amp USA moc toe boot; the idea I have in my head is that if I find a boot with a durable leather upper I can have them re-soled to meet the heel-toe rise level I need. Have you ever done anything like this for a client?

    Hey Brian I have a question I've been wondering for a wile. If I bought a pair of Redwing iron rangers in rough out leather could I die them my self or would that ruin the boot?

  • @actontreadway1168
    @actontreadway1168 3 роки тому

    I had a pair of boots that weren’t really that great, but I wanted to keep them alive so I got them resoled. Sadly, they didn’t do a great job and I can’t really salvage them. I’m unhappy with them but I will wear them until they need another resole and just get rid of them then. The leather just isn’t that great to begin with so getting them fixed now isn’t worth it.

    In the UK we prefer a lower heel on out boots anything over a inch and a half is seen as a ladies boot, do you see regional preferences on heel size in the US

    • @jr-zo9gi
      @jr-zo9gi 3 роки тому +1

      We have the same kind of dumb thinking here in the states. If you want a slim or pointed toe on your boot and an inch and a half heel or 2 inch heel they act like you’re wearing stilettos.

    • @austinwanner449
      @austinwanner449 3 роки тому

      generally leather is good as in insole material. over time it'll mold to your good more than a foam insole because foam tends to fall flat. generally though, the material under your foot matters more than any insole you have

    • @frandanco6289
      @frandanco6289 3 роки тому +1

      Luis Andarsio -- I have tried many insoles and the best I have found for several years are the Red Wing Shoes Custom Moldable Foot Support System, sold at any Red Wing Shoes Store... They are not found on the Internet sold by the Red Wing People..
      These Insoles are very comfortable, mold to your feet, and last a long time..
      I even use the oldest ones in my tennis shoes and it really helps them be more comfortable..
      God Bless !

      Hello the shank is a piece of metal usually a few inches long to about half/full inch wide flat piece of steel found on the inside of most well made boots, usually placed inside the arch or under the heel of the boots.

    • @austinwanner449
      @austinwanner449 3 роки тому

      you can but since they're a glued construction rather than a welt, and since the leather they use isn't really all that great, you run the risk of greatly damaging the boot by resoling it.

    • @Sifo_Dyas
      @Sifo_Dyas 3 роки тому +2

      Hi! Not Brian-hope he won't mind. The value of anything is the amount someone is willing to pay. So it's subjective. It's different for everybody. Brian hit on this in the video. If something has sentimental value to someone, they may be willing to pay far more to repair it than it's worth. "One man's junk is another man's treasure." Remember, it's your life, it's your money, you earned it, and that earns you the right to spend it however you want.
