I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but virtually all Ford diesels are collaborations with Peugeot. That's why older Jaguar X-types and Land Rovers had a 2.2 diesel whereas later ones had a 2.0 JLR motors. It costs so much to develop new engines that most are collaborations. Merc A-Class 1.4 has a Renault power unit and their small van IS a Renault. Common Rail was a FIAT invention that ended up being finished off by Bosch. Cummins and IVECO developed 4, 5 & 6 litre truck engines, in fact Cummins bought out IVECO's engine making company a few years ago.
