Ive been looking for an SUV for a while now so that i could tow other cars. I saw this damaged range rover vogue 2015 with the tdv6 engine listed for sale and it was super cheap so i was all over it. Ive never worked on or owned a range rover before so this will be a completely different experience to what i usually do but im excited to start the project!

Hi Matt.. 15k is in my opinion a bargain for that car. The fact that you have no engine damage whatsoever and it runs and drives is the best part about it.

I just feel sorry for the RS5, this is Hannah's all day long when it's done. Can't blame her either - what a good move for some new content. Also, Matt changing the suspension arms in the same amount of time it takes me to refill the washer fluid. Not many channels keep the content this good for this long. Awesome!

The body kits for these cars are another level this is going to be good 👀 nice one mat! Have to show respect not everyone would tackle a car like this. Them engines are alright they use them in the jag xj and xf can get some good gains with some updated turbos and a remap
The TDV8s are bomb proof. The V6 not so much..

What a daily, that thing is lush! Just shows how easy it can be to own a car some would see as unaffordable just by changing/fixing a few parts and a re spray!

You’ll finally understand what a true money pit is now that you have a Range. My dad spent £13,000 on repairs, and parts that went in the space of 16 months! 🥴 Absolute madness the cost of parts is for these things, Matt! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this, they are monsters!

15 grand sounds good but time will tell after the fix and some decent miles. So many times hidden things come to light after completion. Best of luck and don't forget to hide the keys from Hannah!!
Casting some doubt that the boot was misshaped by the recovery “pulling it closed”. With most electronic tailgates (RR included), you can pull the boot lid down to the desired height and hold the open button to set that as the max open height. This is a feature designed into the car for the more… vertically challenged… folks. TL:DR, they’re designed to be closed manually 🤔
I’m with you on that. The tailgates going out of line are fairly common. There used to be technical bulletin from JLR for dropping tailgate

Common problem for the boot lids to drop you can adjust them up from removing the spoiler and hinge covers 👍

I love range rovers. Trouble is with modding them it can quickly go from tasteful to drug dealer chavtastic in a heartbeat. Looking forward to see what you do!

I have bits mate . A virtually immaculate front and rear bumper, door side trims etc. All removed as I did an svo conversion on my channel. It's all in red but I could paint it for you also. Good luck with the build they are great cars I have had 10 over the years all the models.

When you use soft close doors you slowly push is to the first latch when it clicks and then it will pull itself the rest of the way in

Just one small check I would suggest. I am sure it will all be good but just put your hand between the drivers door and pillar and the passenger door and pillar and make sure they are the same. Do not ask me how I know about this! :) Great vid. Cool wagon.

For the soft close to work you don’t slam the door shut, you push it shut slowly, let it rest against the door jams, and it will automatically soft close if it has the soft close

If it’s the same soft close doors as on a BMW then it works when you shut the door slowly but not properly shut (just on the latch) it’ll pull the door in and close in properly

Little note on the "no cat" on the auto trader ad. There won't be unless an insurance company deems the vehicle a total loss. If it's repaired, then it's just that, repaired. This information will be recorded on MIAFTR though, so long as this was logged with the insurance.
This is the reason yours has a cat, because the Insurer deemed it a total loss.

@backyardboys this is the sort of thing they would take on - standard Boyd damage repair (standard meaning replacing the unremarkable parts) other body damage such as scratches and dints- these smaller things can be repaired by simply sanding down and using body filler ect. Love to see this Matt keep up the 10/10 videos

I’m going to take an alternative view. It’s probably going to cost the thick end of £20k finished. Although it’s on a 15 plate it’s only the 3.0 SDV6. If you’d put another £3-4k to it you could buy one of the first (2013) L405s, undamaged with similar miles & more importantly the superb TDV8 engine.

The soft close doors mean if the door isnt fully shut it will pull it the rest of the way, doesnt mean it will automatically stop the door and softly close it.

It’s access mode Mat, don’t think you can drive it around like that. There’s access mode, normal drive height then wade mode where it lifts up 👍🏻 Went on the launch for this model back in the day to Morocco, it was amazing 👍🏻

US auction market on perfectly clean 2015 Range Rover SE V6 short wheelbase with just under 100k miles is right at $33000-$35000 but if it’s salvaged by insurance company then the value becomes right about half of MMR values what it would fetch at dealer’s auctions. So $15000.00 is like getting an average deal, not too bad but not the best deal for SUV in this condition. $10000-$12000 would be ideal due to repairs this SUV requires.
Soft close doors - they don't quite work as you imagined Matt. If you move the door near to the closed position it will close itself. This is how soft close doors works

Given your experience and connections, I think just less than 15k is a steal. Resale should be anywhere from 22/25k once it's tidied up. So erring on the side of frugality, you've around 5k to get this back to standard before it starts becoming a money pit. My dad has a '66 plate one and it's a seriously nice whip.
Since there’s no structural damage, the car has been really well taken care of, and you are able to repair it, then you can’t even argue that this is not a bargain. You’re actually smart for buying an accidental vehicle because you can save a fortune but you must make it like when it rolled out the factory. With airbags. 😂😂

Now this is a bargain and no mistake! I reckon, even with the mods, this will have cost you no more than £25k.... These are £100k cars when new and even at this age and mileage, you're still talking over £30k as standard... Can't wait to see this when you've finished it 🔥
Parts are cheap cause alot of these get stripped for parts due to engine failures. Facebook have alot of parts. Price is decent. Go for the SVO kit!!! Would look maaaaaaad
In this day and time prices are very high on most used vehicles. I would have the frame checked it does not take much to cause problems. I'd say you will spend as much money repairing this as what you paid for it if you do the repairs correctly. Good luck.
